Just read on the BBC news website that there’s been a change of plans. The quarantine rules will now apply to travel from France after all.

Might change again next week, who knows.

Tried to copy the link but couldn’t get the to work, sorry.

I see people returning from France are included in those who must quarantine for 14 days according to a Government spokesperson today. The exemption would appear to be for freight drivers and some scientific researchers.

Won't matter to us as we're likely to avoid an overseas trip this year.

Edit - I see Pliers has beaten me to the news.smile

It'll give you plenty of time to empty the van, sort out the garden and upload your holiday pics.

Received an email from CAMC to check that my ferry reservations for June (3rd and 15th) was OK. Responded with Email asking for the trip to be deferred and cancelling my one trip RP.

That was on 13th May. No response yet but suspect that the club are really struggling atm, virtually impossible to get telephone access etc. The lack of response makes me nervous!!!

Just have to trust in CAMC and good luck.

Received email from Club this afternoon, Brittany this year cancelled. Full refund of pitch fees and ferry costs. How long before it appears in my account? We'll have to wait and see.

Currently still not clear from government on the position. However having just watched people recovering from Covid on our local news (eighteen months for full recovery) not so sure spending time on a ferry is really worth it!

Full repayment back in my account this morning. Although we are disappointed not to be visiting some of our favourite haunts in Brittany this year, there is always another year. Many thanks to the Club's Overseas Travel Dept. Not only was the online booking simple and efficient (yes it really was, as I stated on an earlier post some months ago, hard for some on here to believe, I know) but also the cancellation and refund process. There are benefits to membership you know.

If quarantine is in place to control the spread i would fully understand and i wouldn't be going. I wouldn't expect France to put it in place just because we have it in place like a tit for tat response. I hope by the date we go quarantine will be over in the UK and we start getting back to normal

An interesting point - if a French (for example) family arrive with van in tow and give a specific campsite as their isolation address for 14 days would that be allowed?

If they had a decent supply of food, probably better than a hotel. Unless they do room service.😀

But it seems if in the position of telling ,your citizens what  not to do  is not applicable to those who do the tellingwink

We have friends who are hoping to come back here from the UK on 31st of this month as their house is their main house not a second home as 1 of them had to fly back to UK just before lockdown and been unable to get back and the car was stuck at Toulouse Airport car park and a friend has managed to get it back out of there for them.

OH has been sending all relevant paperwork they need to come back hopefully.

Another friend had an email from a site north of the Lot to say we will be open from 15th June if they are interested in staying there this year.

We have seen a lot of Motorhomes about and 1 was from the Nimes area that is more than 100km from here also another one was pitched next to the river Lot and fishing again not local but they may have a second home in the area.

One of our friends run a b&b and had a lady ring the other afternoon asking if they had a room for the night as she was walking the GR65 route and they said sorry we are closed and not taking any bookings until 1st August at present but will see what happens after 2nd June but have not got any guests until 14th July and a family group for all 4 rooms, some of the b&b's around their area are only going to take groups of upto 10 people so if folk are out in a single walker or two they will find it difficult to find anywhere, as the b&b will have to have separate tables for each group and keep the distance between them owners will have to wear masks and gloves to serve them, a lot of regulations which will make a lot more work when there are only two of you.

As things stand right now the French border is closed , and after that there is 14 days quarantine for anyone from UK who manages to get into France, and another 14 days quarantine at home when they get back. Things are not unwinding yet.

My guess is that this will not last more than a few weeks before bilateral deal are struck with low infection countries. I'm still hanging on to my August ferry and French campsite bookings for the time being!
