Family pitch rules not encouraging future members.

I think the OP has been honest enough to admit that the terms of a Club seasonal pitch haven't been fully appreciated, and what in fact looked a good deal in comparison to commercial sites, does in fact have more to it than at first is apparent.
Its a question for HQ really, is some modification of the terms and conditions likely to increase membership, or does the fact that most seasonal pitches are oversubscribed mean leave things as they are? Only HQ will have the answers, they have the brief to take the Club forward, regardless of what current members think.

The seasonal we have booked in the Autumn works out at £5 a night if we stayed on site all the nights we are permitted. I assume because they are such good value, seasonal pitches are often oversubscribed. Why would the CC want to open up what is already a bargain deal to the possibility of abuse. Involving wardens in the difficult business of checking if it was actually family members, or someone using their seasonal as a money making scheme.
The T&C's are clear enough, either accept them or don't apply. There are plenty out there willing to take your place. Given there popularity and price I find it difficult to believe the CC would consider relaxing the conditions.

If you were stopped, driving for example, and were suspected of an offence such as no insurance (just to take one of many possibilities) then the police are at liberty to detain you until the can determine your identity. But know you do not need to offer identification.

So, I'd had better take some identification with me , something like ,driving license, electric bill , council tax bill , photo of me standing next to my front door , photo of me sitting in my front room ,and a signed letter from my dog to say I am her owner

Off topic and joking aside, I carry most of that when we're away in case we need to hire a car.
Hire car companies are even fussier than CAMC about checking ID.

Thanks.
Check out a couple of hire companies' websites to see exactly what they want. The letter from your dog may not be necessary.
Most companies can do the online DVLA check for you.

Exactly the stubborn "we hate change" attitude that will see the club sites dwindle for future families.
Caravaning won't retain its popularity so long as the people who can encourage newcomers keep defending the rules, rather than look at improving them, and look at ways to move forward... Cos its always been done like that.
If you care to read the post again without the blinkers on, the rules I would like to change are the ones where immediate family members require to stay at the same address as the main member, and have possibly two or three named family, requiring photographic identification, who have been registered at the time of the initial season subscription added to the pitch.
As I said before, I absolutely don't mind paying for my daily use of services, when on site!

MollysMummy - There is no additional charge for the member who has taken the pitch nor for his partner and children. That is included in the seasonal pitch booking along with EHU whilst they are on site and that is why I maintain that little if any of the money relates to the pitch provision itself.

SO would you also welcome an increase in the cost of the seasonal pitches to include all comers?
I read without blinkers - did you? The fee is calculated in some form to reflect the terms and conditions one of which is that the renter, OH and Children along with EHU are catered for within the fee. To have brothers, sisters, adult children, using it would therefore mean that they were effectively using it free of charge. IF it were to allow increased usage then an increased charge would be reasonable or do you believe in something for nothing?
There is no such thing as a free ride .... somebody pays.

I would possibly accept a bank card as id if it were the one you were paying with. Not many people would lend out a card with the pin number I think. Or I might not!!!!

I lent my eldest daughter one of my Debit Cards to get some money when she was short on cash and had lost her credit card. Almost 3 years later I asked if she remembered my PIN ........ she did. If I didn't use my cards for 3 years I doubt that I would remember my own.

Definitely not the friendly club judging by the replies on here, yes the T&Cs were overlooked and yes the rules that are present now must be followed.
But it's like dipping your foot in a pond full of Piranha fish, not a good advert at all to the OP and any other newcomer where no intentional malice was intended.

+1
when we had a seasonal with our children it was excellent value and much cheaper than the school holiday and all the weekends added together.
So I disagree with the OP, the club is doing quite a lot for families, not only the seasonals but many family sites have kids a for a pound, and of course unlike most commercials there is no extra charge for dogs and awnings. If you go a club site during the summer most are full of happy families so the club is 'investing' in it's future very well.
And also as the OP has not gone to the high cost of actually purchasing a caravan herself ? so surly the weekly cost the OP described is quite low for a family holiday anyway? I mean where else could you take your whole family away in accommodation for £210?

yes but what happens on here is just not what happens on site. Also just look at how many posters there are compared to now many members there are in reality who never post on here.

We should, I guess, always be just a tad mindful of what we wish for. A change to the Ts&Cs which reflects that higher level of entitlement suggested may bring cost implications. If a sliding scale of charges were introduced reflecting the number of additional persons eligible to stay in the agreement holders caravan we might just find that the cost is not dissimilar to the current arrangements.
I suppose a bigger picture, one we don't always see, or want to see, may need looking at. Friendly discussion can help clarity and I think most of us are trying hard in this thread to be objective and helpful.I'm all for encouraging families to become involved in our pastime, just need to find the 'best' ways of doing this for all concerned..
