Did you or "others?"who had a problem with the said dogs contact the site staff with your "concerns"

Well you probably won't be reading this then, countax. Why would you think I was taking offence? Did you read my first sentence or just jump to an unfounded conclusion?

I'm perfectly aware of the different views expressed over time on this topic and was just trying to explain something you appeared to have misinterpreted! frown

We know that, Countax, and responsible dog owners would not leave their dogs as you describe.

I meant constructive suggestions as to how to handle a situation like that based on your experience. For instance, did you have a word with your fellow camper who left his/her dogs, or did you speak to the site warden, and what was the result? What worked for you?

I'm sure you will have found a way of tackling the issue unlike so many who do nothing at the time and then come on CT to moan about it after the event.

Complete and total rubbish and somewhat stupid and ill though out comment, we keep our 2 dogs tethered or on leads and only let them do what they have to do in dog walk and clear up after them. Most dog owners do that, at any time about a third or more of campers have dogs so by your comments 50 dogs would be running around by themselves and I doubt you have ever seen that.

To blame all dog owners is like blaming all parents for the odd child that runs feral or camper that has TV turned up all night or a generator running all day and night or a camper dumping litter on their pitch.

Bad parents, bad dog owners and nuisance campers do exist but the vast majority of us give and take and camp responsibly, if we didn’t campsites would be chaos.

Most of us also live and let live a little and know we are not perfect and accept others are not perfect either.

    Thanks for listening

Wei would never ever leave our dogs unattended at a camp site even for a few moments let alone 5 hours. They stay at home yes in a locked house with water and food but that is just not the same as a campsite it is our home a camp site is a public place.

Sorry we would never find this acceptable and would count it as unacceptable and irresponsible from a dog owner; I suspect an RSPCA inspector might feel the same. We know our dogs don’t bark all day at home because we have asked the neighbours.

I think the difference is RoyandBev, is that their are those of us that are dog people and those that are not. I appreciate not everyone thinks the same as me which is why my two border collies never inconvenience anyone. Their is the very rare instance,  thats what dogs do they are inquisitive but I deal with it straight away as they are never out of my sight. My 2 boy's are never, and ever will be, left in our caravan, allowed to roam free in an on lead area and I always clean up after them. They are my responsibility.

I just don't understand how some on here think its OK to publicly label anyone who owns a dog and uses club sites in such a derogatory way and make no excuses defending myself and other responsible owners.

I have already stated, I have yet to witness any of these issues with one recent exception when another dog owning member politely spoke to someone in a M/H about leaving their 2 small dog's alone for a couple of hours in some very warm weather.

This is just another example of lawless society that has overtaken us.!!!!I could list any number of "laws"that these days people completely ignore.....not only on caravan sites!!!!!!!!!

I say it again on this  post  dog owners always expect those inconvenienced to do something, not the owners  themselves. Yes it is a minority but unfortunately they are the ones that get attention. Why is it up to the inconvenienced to report to Wardens? Its the owners who should have controlled their pets that are  at fault

    "Yes it is a minority..."

I guess that's the closest we're going to get to an apology for the "always the same with dogs owners" line then, Fisherman!  frown

David sorry if I caused offence it was no intended but this is a subject that raises high passion for the many and the few.

I would never comment on yours or anyone’s relationship as no one’s is perfect just perfect for them, I also have a Autistic nephew and a friend with a Down’s Syndrome child and both have a calmer and enhanced life with the presence of a dog in one instance and a cat in the other.

What works for some doesn’t work for others that is why we are all special in our own way and just need to have a bit of give and take.

I was once told and find it to be true in any argument no one is absolutely right or absolutely wrong the truth is often lost somewhere in the middle

Isn't it strange that the word "dog" can cause so much disharmony surprised, some dog owners need to realise that not everyone is happy to be close to dogs and should respect that's persons choice ..

Well thanks for agreeing it is a tiny minority and not all of us dog owners causing a problem I am afraid those that are antisocial with their Dog, Cat, Barbecue, Party, litter, kids, noise, will never take responsibility for themselves as they don’t see themselves in the wrong which is why they need reporting and wardens strong enough to take action.

We all need a bit of give and take in life but some will take more and give less it is them we all need to report if we feel strongly enough about what they are doing

That's absolutely right of course HD!

But it cuts two ways - I've lost count of the number of times we've settled ours down only for other, genuinely well meaning guests to come over to make a fuss of them - Irish Setters seriously enjoy all that attention - so that we have to start all over again settling them. It's up to everyone to respect each other on site and not make assumptions. smile

Best wishes to all my old muckers but I will not be back for another look anytime soon.

The sooner the Club and CL's start charging an adult fee per dog, the better.

Excellent idea, then my dog can use the showers, toilets and all other things a full paying member uses. laughing

It can even cut across pitches which is the norm for humanoids, light up a stinking barby and fly a noisy flag, worth paying for I think. Just have to find a harness so she can pull the aquaroll at 7.00am  innocent

is that a fee per adult dog? How much reduction for puppies?

Also should it be based on the dog's weight? That is fairer isn't it? greater weight means more wear and tear on the pitch and the dog walk?

Now what about other pets on site?

I did see an tortoise loose (yes without a lead) on a pitch at (the then) Braemar club site, what would you charge for that?
