Happy Birthday to R&R and I wonder if the BBQ has come into use?! It certainly has rained and rained up north but we managed an hour at Hebden Bridge in the dry yesterday. After that Mr Brue proved that his theory of women and spacial awareness is outdated when he tackled an archway in the MH. Now Gaffa taped along the roof line we are at least roadworthy...!

Oh brue 😲. We have our measurements, laminated and velcro to the lining just above the rear view mirror - hopefully to avoid this. Glad you're roadworthy. Hope you're dry too.

Finally found a few minutes to have a quick catch up. Sorry you have had a poorly dog, ttda, hope he is soon back to his normal happy self. We have to watch what our Collie tries to pick up and eat, he does seem to have quite a sensitive stomach.

Pleased everyone has arrived safely onsite, enjoy your breaks & Happy Birthday to whichever R is celebrating πŸŽ‚

Caravan had its service at the beginning of the week, all ok, thank goodness smile

We are off to the Peak District  for a few days tomorrow, I'am just hoping the rain, which doesn't seem to have stopped all week eases off!  Luckily the site is on top of a hill laughing

Have spent the week trying to master knitting in rounds on double pointed needles, nobody warned me how fiddly it is, surprised been driving me mad!!,

KjellNN I have also forgotten to leave the fridge door open, the cleaning was not pleasant.

Hope the damage isn’t too great brue. Can recommend a rather unusual Mongolian restaurant in Sowerby Bridge if you are still in area, call Temujin. We have had lunch there with friends a few times......interesting!

Double pointed needles are such a ruddy faff Helen, I much prefer to use one of those flexible jobs if I have right size. I knitted some gloves for OH this holiday, and had to do thumbs on tiny double points....gave up in the end as the swearing was getting too much for everyone😀

We've never damaged any of our vans but OH moved over slightly in a narrow bit of single track tunnel road as a pedestrian was just ahead. frown

We're near our son now who brought out a ladder and  helped to do a temporary repair till we get home. We've agreed this with the insurance.

Edit,  thanks TDA! We posted at the same time. We just had one night in the area, enjoyed seeing some new to us places en route. smile

Happy birthday R&R (not sure which one of you to wish it to!!). I hope you managed a BBQ in the dry.

Glad to hear that your poorly dog is feeling better TDA. I hope you have  safe and fairly dry trip home.

I gave up knitting many years ago Helen. It all got a bit too complicated for me! I hope you have a good trip to the Peak District and that the rain beings to ease off a bit.

Best of luck driving the MH Bakers2 and hope the MOT goes well.

So sorry to hear about the damage to your MH brue.  We had a similar situation many years ago in York when OH managed to clip the side of a wall near the Minister.  The Minister authorities came out in force and were not happy bunnies!! There was more damage to our MH than the wall and we patched the MH with gaffer tape until we got home.

We went on a U3A church visit this afternoon.  What should have been a lovely drive through the very pretty villages in deepest Rutland turned into a test of strength diving in torrential rain through very deep standing water and the church was freezing. We still had a good time though as the little church was very pretty and so interesting.  The 2 lady church wardens told us a lot about the church and the estate village it sits in and gave us very nice cake and tea. laughing

Mixed day today. Had enough dry weather for a walk up above Whitby. Managed 3 hours before the rain started just as we got back to town, luckily for a bite to eat.

Then some shopping. Great excitement as new Aldi had a grand opening today.smile Never seen so many staff in on one day!

Then home to take the awning down. It's done well in these winds and we ard a bit exposed as well. We were sold it on the basis that it would stand up to strong (not gale force) winds.

Feeling a lot better now. Thanks folks.

Hope Moulesy has a good time. Seems appropriate mentioning M and Beer, doesn't it? Take mud cleaning materials Helen.πŸ˜€

Hope the final bill isn't too expensive Brue. At least no one was hurt apart from OHs feelings.

Photos from today and the other day near Staithes.

Thank you for all your kind birthday wishes. It was me (Richard) who was celebrating- can’t believe that next year will be the big 70. Where does the time go! We did, indeed, manage a BBQ albeit a bit quick and ate in the van because as well as the wet weather it’s also not that warm. We had probably the best steaks πŸ₯© I have ever tasted - courtesy of Mr Aldi - will certainly try those again πŸ˜„

Good to hear that, despite the weather, everyone seems to be making the most of their time away. It must get better soonπŸ˜—

Looking forward to visiting the Sea Shanty Festival in Falmouth tomorrow. There used to be an excellent one in Hull, every September until the Council, in their wisdom, stopped funding it.

Well guess what it's raining again this morning  cry

Richard, glad you enjoyed the bbq steak in the dry. I often buy steak from Aldi, it's very good. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Sorry to hear about the damage to the MH Brue, hope it isn't too bad, and doesn't take too long to fix.

Wherenext pleased you are enjoying Whitby, we will be up there in the Autumn.  I've made sure the wellies are in the caravan,  I think we will need them.

Must dash  still got a couple of hours at work before heading off.

Take care folks  and hopefully dry,  enjoy the weekend. smile

How very rare you! laughing Trouble is, I've got to time the walk so that we don't get there too early or too late - mind you the website for one pub says open 10:30 - 23:00 so it's a pretty wide window of opportunity!

I like Beer. wink A nice little town, my Mum lived nearby for ten years, she decided at 80 that she wanted to be by the sea, a good move as she really enjoyed it.

    Enjoy your holiday Helen.

All those sea shanties R&R, you'll be singing them in your sleep! Hope you get time for a boat or ferry trip from Falmouth, in good weather they are worth doing.

Glad I'm not the only one with a talent for mistaking what I see, OP  surprised.  The sun came out while I was finishing a bit of tidying up indoors, so I decided, in my wisdom, to give a short back & sides to the largest of my bushes. Now it looks as tho' the Mad Reaper has been at it, the green bin is full and, once again, I'm having a mid afternoon snack of Ibuprofen embarassed.  How does that old Pete Seager song go ??  { # When will they ever learn , when will they eeeeeever learn ?? # }  Now if it had continued raining I'd only be whining and not wincing

Still this seat is comfy, well padded & allows me to get the TMS cricket chat as well as playing on here.

Brue, there's nowt wrong with sea shanties - I've got eight C.D.s of them in my motor --  great accompaniment to driving in the lashing rain & thunder wink

I’ve got quite a few shanty CDs downloaded to my phone, ABM and agree with you!! Lots of fun. Bit disappointed that Shanty Jack won’t be there - he fronted the Hull festival for years.

Pleased to report that the sun is now shining in our part of Cornwall- just got back after a lovely day out in St Mawes. Not sure how long it will last, though πŸ˜™

Mixed day here. Motorhome passed its MOT. I drove it to and from testing station approx 10 miles each way without incident - phew! Had a bit of an issue putting him back into his parking slot 😯. Nothing either side πŸ˜‚ but had several attempts to get it central within the lines, put it in first time last time. I thought it was ok and got out but OH decided he could do better and endorsed brue's OH about spacial awareness and hit the bank at the rear of the parking space with the offside bumper causing damage to the light cluster too 😯. Not roadworthy at present and parts to be sourced. Not so easy with an older motorhome. I'm not in the right frame of mind to start at the moment and he's dozing!

Treated ourselves to a pub lunch - if you're going to pay out you might as well enjoy spending πŸ˜‰. Driving back home low pressure warning came on for the offside rear car tyre again, 4th time since 3 April. Got that sorted as we passed a tyre garage within moments on the way home. Must remember to raise it when in goes in for its first service in a couple of weeks.

Hope others had a better day!

    Brue love the new puppy.

An easy mistake to make Oneputt, but sounds like a great start to your day.

ABM sorry to hear you were rather zealous at the gardening for yourself and the shrub.

HelenandTrevor enjoy your time away. I was hoping we'd get away very locally next month but that now looks unlikely.

I must search out some sea shanty songs. Not heard any, that I can recall, since primary school when we sang them as part of music lessons from the radio. (That dates me) Those and the old traditional British/English/Welch/Scottish songs like men of harlech and those stirring snippets that used to start radio 4 in previous years etc.

You could also look out for some old C.D.s of The Spinners the long retired Liverpool group they did quite a few recordings based on their Liverpool Home - even tho there were but four of them one each from Wales, Geordieland and the West indies --  not sure where the lanky bean pole came from surprised

Easy drive to our new CL at Flamborough. Set up and put awning up between sharp showers, which died down enough for us to stretch out legs along the coast path. Saw a Barn Owl quartering a field. Poor thing must have had a bad couple of days with the rain to be out mid afternoon. Called in at the Dog and Duck and settled Moulsey's bar bill.πŸ˜‚ How much?surprised

Weather seems fair for a few days. Out for a long walk tomorrow.

    Belated birthday wishes Richard.

Sea shanties and Morris Dancers?? Where is that Room 101?

You’re not staying with John and Kim at High Breame, are you? Small but the loveliest of CLs with fully serviced pitches plus loo and shower. We are there next month.

Just to get me in the mood for tomorrow, currently listening to a CD by Stormalong John and their lovely Liverpool-based shanties.

Thanks for the birthday wishes πŸ™‚

It's been a much better day today, though still a shower or two this morning. This evening we've got some very pleasant warm sunshine. We walked to Beer this morning, stopped for lunch before returning. The coastal path from Branscombe to Beer is a killer and just as bad on the way back. Going to sleep well tonight! smile

ABM - Those Morris Dancers scare the beejapers out of me.😱😱😱.

Moulesy, it's your own fault if you will allow the fairer sex to have a second drink. Yes, that cliff path is a bit of a gentle tug up isn't it?

Richard, can't afford such opulence. We're slumming it at Hartendale Farm site. Easier to walk out on the cliff path as well. There's 5 of us slumming it plus a Retired Cheshire Rally set on the rally field opposite. No complaints, been here before and suits us.

    Brue - Cute or what?laughing
