Stayed up very late last night,  well actually this morning embarassed talking about the house we had visited yesterday.

This morning was late start but we had waffles for breakfast,  others have gone to see another house so I'am taking five minutes break. wink

Hope they can decide Helen. My son and family are up in the NE having a holiday and looking at houses, it's a big decision isn't it? They had a difficult to sell house previously so we are hoping they will choose something that will be easier to sell in the future. Meanwhile we are the repository for their worldly goods, an initial storage session became very expensive after three months.

Their beloved hamster is giving us cause for concern, it would happen when they are away wouldn't it! undecided I have been looking at hamster health web pages, we had one when the family were young, Jimmy's passing caused a lot weeping and wailing, just our luck to be seeing it happen again....

Other than that I've actually had time to read a book today, rather than just a few pages late in the evening. smile

Brue, I hope the hamster survives until they get home.

Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings for tea. All washed up and cleared away.

Hedgehog fed and watered in the garden and the fish wouldn't let me pass the pond without feeding them too.

Wow sitting in the garden enjoying last of the sun before it goes behind the conifer and is lost to our back garden. Big plane noise 😲 quite low red arrows in formation! Must be returning from Eastbourne. Appeared to be in the middle of our road 😁 let a grey vapour trail.

Miserable day today, grey skies and dull this morning, raining this afternoon and evening frown

Went to see Mum this morning, she has finished her antibiotics but not convinced all is well, have requested that a Dr checks her out during the week.

Back home after a bit of food shopping, then a spot of lunch before giving the house a good going through with the hoover and duster.

OH cleared up his mess in the attic but it still needs a good clean as plaster/brick dust everywhere, he had covers over things but to no avail.

A couple of the items on ebay have been sold and OH sorted them out and took to local shop for courier collection. 1 item was bid for and won but the bidder came back to say sorry didn't mean to bid that much, request to drop out yell leaving him to stew for awhile until the second bidder lets us know if he is still interested, will mean less money though.

Had a lovely walk this morning, then as we were near Ripon we popped in to have lunch at The Royal Oak, washed down with a pint of Timothy Taylors. Good pub, dog friendly as well. Another stroll and a look around the cathedral, then home across the tops.

Thought it was going to rain all morning but it stayed dry but overcast.

Tammygirl sorry to hear about your mum, best get her checked again.

Sorry about your weather, but don't run away with the idea it's been sunny here, thick grey cloud which lifted slightly about 4pm, very warm and quite humid, I sat out about 5pm when the sun appeared very intermittently. I was reading and trying to drag myself to the kitchen to cook dinner when the red arrows flew over. OH heard them but was indoors so missed them!

At least 6 white butterflies, 4 blues various sizes and 1 painted lady, the first I've seen this year, in the garden this afternoon. Most I've seen all summer.

HelenandTrevor by the sound of it you didn't spend too much time on the air bed 😉. Much chewing things over on the big decis of house buying 😲. Hopefully if they decide it's right their offer will be excepted and it will proceed smoothly to completion.

Great photos of your grandsons EasyT - they don't look tired at all 😂.

Went into town yesterday as OH needed new formal shoes to go with his suit, I managed to find a dress I preferred to the one I was going to wear for the funeral Tuesday. Might have overnight guests for 1 or more nights so spent rest of the weekend blitzing the house and garden just in case! No bad thing as once that's sorted were off in the motorhome next weekend at the latest.

Tomorrow it's take mum for hospital appointment then straighten her garden. This weather, has made everything grow like spring again since the rain 😲

On Friday we went to Renishaw Gardens, which we'd not visited before, and it was well worth the trip. There were a lot more flowers in the gardens here than we've seen for the last few weeks. I was able to sample the fruit from a Mulberry Tree, only the second time that I've eaten them....lovely!!

Yesterday we were out for 4 hours walking on the Edges. Out along White Stone Edge to Longshaw and then back along Froggatt, Curber and Baslow Edges. The weather was just right for walking, a bit breezey but fine, dry and not too warm.

Today we drove up to Wentworth and met up with Tda and OH. Had a very interesting walk round the gardens, village and one of the two churches with a very knowledgeable tour guide.wink  After Sunday roast lunch one of the village pubs we continued the tour down to view the great house, Wentworth Woodhouse. Apart from a short rain shower the weather was kind to us and we had a great day out.

Thank you Nellie! I was at one time offered the chance to take tours round the big house as a volunteer, but didn't follow it up as I had too much on caring for Mum and Dad. I would probably have got into trouble telling some of the tales I told you!surprised It was interesting for us as well, sometimes you don't fully appreciate what is on your doorstep. So glad we didn't get chased by the cows. laughing

We envy your energy by the way!

We found a lovely cottage for our next break away. We were having trouble finding somewhere with the dates we needed, then I remembered that there had been a lovely holiday Cottage next to a CL we used on our last tour. Result......can't wait, so much to see and do, and it will be first holiday away with Mum and Sister for five years, will be so nice to share some of the lovely places we go with them.laughing Pooch friendly as well, big secure garden, lots of great walks and beaches close by.

Hope that your son and his partner get sorted out with a house soon. We do our best to avoid the M6 whenever we can, especially around Brum.

The trips' been a good one, shorter than normal but we've managed to fit in lots of new places and a few favourites. Only 4 days left before we get home and start the weeding!!yell

Have you any plans for your next trip?

Nellie and TDA how strange, I had just been looking at the Wentworth House web site yesterday and wondering which tour to take if we managed to get up there, any ideas gratefully received! (Probably next year.)

TammyG, sorry to hear abut your Mum, much the same as mine by the sound of it. More anitbiotics needed. The home is very good about getting the GP out and we have had a lot of conversations about her care but it is worrying for all of us to see things not going so well.

I was awake early today, it's damp and humid, better rise and shine instead of lingering over a keyboard! wink

Expensive, but don't do anything other than the dearest tour brue. You won't get to see much on the others. The big house is just one element of the estate, admittedly the most impressive. But the surrounds, village, monuments, Walled Garden, Heritage Centre and lots of other linked places make it much more than just a house visit. We filled a day with Mr and Mrs Nellie, didn't go in the house, and only walked the village. If I am around at home when you come up, we could meet up and I will show you some of the less well known history. In a decade or so, it will rival Chatsworth and Blenheim as a must see bit of history. laughing

Thanks TDA, do hope we can visit sometime, I was hooked on the Black Diamonds story so it's all your doing! Yes, I'll get in touch if we manage a future visit, that would be nice. I have a long standing friend who was brought up in Swinton, so I've actually been to the area (she used to tell us about the pollution in Rawmarsh, which was extreme years ago wasn't it?) But no-one mentioned Wentworth in those days.

I'll probably be off air now, my Mum is going into hospital, quite poorly and we're waiting to hear further news.

    Take care all. smile

As it was a Sunday and it looked like they were gearing up for a service we didn't spend too long in there. Fortunately we're going back tomorrow, principally to walk to Studley Royal, but intend to have a proper root in the Cathedral as well. We're hoping that there may be a "MillieH" to give us a potted history.

Glad you enjoyed your day with the "Nellies". He does have far too much energy for his age.laughing Must have been a nightmare as a kid!surprised

Sorry to hear your news Brue. Fingers crossed.

Had a nice cycle today. Took the bikes and parked at Spofforth Castle. Interesting history.

Helen - What was the name of the CL you stayed at en route to Dorset?Somewhere in Wiltshire wasn't it?

Nellie - We've a Mulberry Tree in the garden. Never get to eat the fruit as thd Blackbirds pinch the lot, usually before it's ripened. The results can be found later on all over the nearby caravan.surprised

Busy day today, bus into town to do some banking admin stuff.  Pottered in garden till daughter and grandtwins came round.  Daughter told us her and OH carted 17 tons of spoil and walked 14 miles in the process.

Finally mowed the lawns for the first time since about the 6th June.

Now sat with a well deserved pint of Adnams Blackshore 🌞🍺

"We"have had a couple of interesting dayssurprised

Decided to remove two big shrubs that had got out of hand this year, because of long trips away since May,far to much to put in bin,so decided needed trailer to keep car from damage,(have been thinking of one for a while)H

Halfords small Erdi 102 looked good, and had one in stock at local store? so saved it via on line,on arrival advised all sold, but could have next size up for same price(saving £100 laughing)and it was already made up,so went to back of store to collect only to find it had a seven pin plugfrown, but they had a converter plug i could have no chargesmile so number plate fitted (which i already had)then off home

Checked on times for local recycle/tip,and they are open todaysmile so started to load trailer, when OH told me i needed a trailer/van pass to use any tipssurprised and 5days lead time to get onefoot-in-mouth

Have off loaded trailer as it will be stored in garden  and now have very large pile of shrub bits blocking access to washing line for at least 5 days yell

hope the pass arrives as we are going away again next weeksurprised

The wedding on Friday was a great success. The weather was kind, the bride, of course, was beautiful, the groom and best man made witty speeches and everyone behaved themselves at the reception (well, most of the time!) Mrs M made good use of the kleenex tissues she took with her and even managed to persuade Mr M to take to the dance floor on occasions, though the disco seemed to be almost entirely Ibiza club music, good for the youngsters, but hard if you don't know any of the words! laughing

Groom's parents now working hard on his sister - hint, hint! wink
