It is a very nice site we have been useing it for years, before the club bought it,(do not pay for dogs nowwink),It only has one toilet block and that is when you turn left past the entrance,on what is the "original part of the site mostly grass pitches but firm, the "new part" which the club put in is right through the entrance barrier, and is all hardstandings but it can be quite a walk to the toilets from there, even when we had our motorcaravans we never had a problem on the grass pitches, ,there is/was a quite good bus service,

Thanks for the info. We tend to use hard standing pitches but may give the grass ones a try as they look nice and spacious in the photos

Another glorious day at New England Bay with absolutely no plans!

Ah but Goldie, do you have a Plan B in case the No Plans doesn't work out? Glad the weather is being kind for you.

Yesterday I was £110 worse off as I thought I would have to replace my front tyre on the car as it sustained a cut to it somewhere in Germany (they really do take losing a mere footie match seriously over there) but when I presented myself at our local tyre company they told me that it was still legal. As the vehicle manufacturers kindly supplied a full spare tyre with the car I asked the tyre dealer to swap the cut one with the spare just in case. The spare will do in an emergency, just like those space saver ones and I'll buy a new one when I need one, hopefully never.

The young man wouldn't take any money for changing over the tyres either but managed to accept a donation to his favourite charity (himself).smile

I really prefer using local traders when I can. They're always helpful at this tyre depot.

Just back from a nice walk in the greenwood (Sherwood Forest) Very pleasant  in the dappled shade. We did our usual walk, which takes in the Longhorn enclosure. There are only 12 of them and the wooded pen, shown in the two pictures, is about a mile square. So often as today there was no sighting. The rangers manage to locate them easily enough, they recognise the sound of their transport and know it contains nice tasting suppliment, so soon appear.

Found another dead bat in the garden today, took more photos and then sent them to the Norfolk bat survey group as I think we may have a  roost close by and the cats have got to them.

Supper duty tonight so more decisions to make.

Much cloudy but lighter breeze start to the today.

Oneputt I do hope you/someone can solve the dead bat issue. Did Mrs Oneputt mother assist Time and Tide with her memories or photos? Or is she featured?

We tripped over this lovely, but now abandoned church in Apsley Road when looking for the Cyprus restaurant, I do hope it won't go to rack and ruin and then be demolished.

After a slow start and lovely stay at Great Yarmouth club site we set off for Pinewoods. Good journey stopped at Cley Marshes for lunch and a stroll, lots of folk about carrying cameras 😉.

Smooth arrival at Pinewoods pitch allocated on booking which wasn't an issue. Very pleasant surprise as we approached the Horse Paddock touring area, very large spacious and open but tree cover from the sea-side. One way system with a halfway cross point and massive pitches with reinforced grass area for siting motorhome or caravan. Pitch is fully serviced 😃. Card entry to both facilities which confirm your visits are recorded. 2 family self contained toilets and a disabled shower as well as male and female at each facility. Paths through from one side to the facilities so no excuses for crossing pitches. 2 huge motorhome service points, and 2 areas with charger point for electric vehicles, token required current cost unknown.

Oh we're booked in for three nights and get 96 hours of WiFi included,  own login. Reasonable speed too.

So really £30 is pricey but location is great and the site is massive and spacious.

Lots of oyster catchers flying over with food in their beaks.

Ps to the above. Site rules that dogs on a lead at all times, one of the vans opposite has a dog without a lead 😲 so it's not just club sites 😉.

That sounds great for £30 Bakers. We are currently on Club Site special steel slag chippings (ghastly grey and dusty!), no wifi included. Mind you, 15 minute stroll into York centre makes it a cheap option. Have a good time. Can highly recommend looking around Cley church, and the Nelson church at Burnham Thorpe! laughing

So glad you've managed your York trip TDA, it sounds good. I think the two in one Shakespeare and football was an unexpected bonus...wink

We have had rain here today, real rain. But now it's evaporated and I think we're in for more heat. In the midst of a lot of building activity here, huge bags of aggregate etc in neat rows blocking our usual exit we also have a planned visit to Kingston Maurward near Dorchester tomorrow for a garden tour. Somehow, on the same day, we must pack the van, take in more "stuff" from son and family due to house move. It's going to be very busy.

Southlands is a nice site but in my view not quite so convenient for public transport. An hourly bus service is about a ten minute walk away down a road with no pavements! The Island Breezer does stop immediately outside the site  but those of us with English bus passes have to pay to use that servicesurprised. If we go back to Southlands I will think about hiring a car. A couple of weeks ago we were at Waverley Park at East Cowes because of the better transport links.

David, if you need it, this is the company we used on IoW.

    https://www.southwightrentals.co.uk

His cars aren't new but were perfectly adequate for our needs. Cheaper than Enterprise, too.

He's by Morrison’s so not far from Southlands.

No a lot of good really as B&Q's prices are 20% higher than most other similar outlets, I find.

Hope you get the van fixed quickly Nell, the potential doesn't bear thinking about.

Thanks OP et al. Just waiting now for the service engineer to come back and fir the replacement. There's plenty of time ( I hope) as we're not away again until the 16th. Glad that he found it, though, as I hate to think of what might have happened.

Thanks, Natasha. It's nice that this job is going so well! They're giving me more and more hours of work with the increased pay that goes with it. I think this is the best job I've ever had. Also many of the customers are regular and because I have delivered to them before, I don't have to use the satnav. I know the way which makes it quicker! It's nice to meet the same people again and again. They become like friends.

Just finishing a cuppa before setting out for a mornings walk. There's a decent hostelry halfway around so liquid intake shouldn't be a problem.

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather but please remember your dogs and cats and especially any elderly folk. Check up on them.

Gosh I think we're just finding out how hot it is 😂😂. We had been very comfortable in Great Yarmouth lovely chilly breeze. I'm breakfasting indoors as it's too hot for me already and we're off walking down to catch he bus by the Quay so can't to doing with putting the suncanopy out for a very short time. I have made our lunch as after the site fee and entrance fee £16.50 each I think we would have a large shock on food costs 😉😂

Enjoy your day folks and I can only echo Wherenext comments on pets and neighbours young and old and keep your liquid intake up.

The answer, wherenext, is aircon. Dogs, cats and people are much more comfortable with it than without! So why not go for it? It's made a huge difference to our comfort this summer!

https://www.hellomagazine.com/healthandbeauty/health-and-fitness/201007053811/air-conditioning/health/risks/    Aircon is can be a comfort, but unfortunaly it is not suitable for everyone

Take car everyone in this heat, adopt the European way by sleeping in the afternoon.
