Good day of pottering, plenty achieved so pretty pleased.  Neighbour gave us lettuce and peas picked from his allotment.  Strawberries 🍓 still going strong in our garden.  Found a dead bat in the garden, sent a pic to niece, a licensed bat handler to see if she could identify.

Took  the  Aged  Sister  to  B & Q to  get  a replacement  for  her,  but  they  said  "Sorry  Time  Expired  Stock  laughing.  So she  had  to  get  a tool  to clean  her  high  inside  windows  instead.  Lots  more  humour  in  a  similar  vein,  but  it  came  back  to  bite  me  where  I  sit.  Went  for  a refreshing  swill  before  going  to see  friends    and  the  water  was  cold surprised (  well  barely  tepid  )  The  blasted  immersion  heater  control  had  failed,  so  back  to  B & Q  after  a  flying  courtesy  visit  to The  Friends.  Must be  a  common  fault  'cos  the  replacement  carries  same  make  &  mark  no's  as  the  original  so  they  must  have  brought  loads  and  loads  in  as  ballast.  I  must  try  drilling  out  the  security  screws  to  see  if  it's  repairable  --  purely  for  my  own  interest  of  course  wink

Now  the  water  is  right  for  dish  washing  etc,  I'll  go  &  have  a  proper  cold  shower.

Cricket  on,  football  to  come,  six  or  more  BBC  channels  showing  tennis  and  its  still  ideal  weather  for  soaking  ones  toes  in a   nice  cool  river laughing --  oh    such  a  hard  life  cool  !!

Thanks for the tip off tda. Yes booked Pinewoods and paid the premium price, cleared by OH 😉, to walk to the Hall. Jolly cross to find its not as close as we thought. That's doing research on a phone! But better to discover it sooner rather than later. Have broken the news to OH who said we'll drive, then I added that Wherenext said bus drops us at the Hall. So we'll investigate on arrival.

Must say we have both fancied the site for a while and with the weather as it is as it is it should be lovely. But bread and it meals 😂😂. No pockets in a shroud 😉

Well done Malcolm, have you asked for a pay rise? 😉

Well done on pottering Oneputt, nice to harvest after your labours.

DEBSC how lovely if you can get a shot we'd all love to see the jays.

Wherenext I'm sure you don't mean that really! Hope you actual dentist wasn't too painful.

We walked into Yarmouth today and tried to eat at Colombia Tavern, only to find it didn't open until 1730, not on their website. So went to Silver Darlings at Tide and Time, lovely sandwich before a very good visit into the actual museum.

As usual so much to take in but I wanted to concentrate on the herring harvest and I like recent social history so the recreated Row was great and the smell of smoke lingers in some exhibition areas where the herrings used to be smoked. I've always been fascinated by the herring girls following the harvest down the east coast. Very hard life and quite usual to gut 60 herrings a minute.

Trivia the women in Towers curing house were the first to bring an action for equal pay ( asking to receive the90p per hour to paid to the men) in 1976  after the 1975 equal pay act. They lost and returned to work. They weren't considered equal work to the men as they were only expected to fill 500 skeets (the pole the herrings are threaded onto) with 21 herring per shift meaning they handled 8,000 herring in 8 hours.

Now the football is on 😉

Surely super 5cs is caravan insurance, It is Steve's car that has broken down.  Mayday are the ones who will take you to your site and home again if necessary.

Have just had an email from H&T and all is well. I am sure she will post on here before too long.

Heard this afternoon that our eldest grand-daughter has passed her PGCE (teaching degree).  We are so proud of her as she has worked extremely hard (not naturally academic) and has had to overcome some difficulties not least her recent stay in hospital.  She started in her new teaching post yesterday as they like to have new teachers get used to  their new class for a few weeks before September.

Did my normal shift as a Cathedral Welcomer this morning. It took a while to get back in the swing of things after 3 weeks off. It was nice to be back.

Him up there looks after the just! We already use inexpensive CLs, B2, but can't do without EHU. I'm sure that I'll find the odd penny or two somewhere to pay for the repair.wink

We start off at Chester then down to Ombersley near Worcester, onto Cheltenham, then Bibury, across to Buckinghamshire, up to Nottingham, then Chesterfield and one final CL on the way home, yet to be selected. A short trip for us only 5 weeks or so, as we like to get home before the August Bank Holiday.

Thanks for the news on helenandtrevor milliehull and many congratulations to your granddaughter. I think those that don't find learning easy make great teachers as they understand how hard it can be. My daughter highlights this herself, she's great at finding alternative explanations to show the kids how it's done. Strangely she find languages easy when immersed in them. Where she teaches they have to include Maori, one or only 2 regions that did more are having to make it more inclusive, and she's got her girls (2 & 4) bilingual already. I was presented with a book to read the girls and couldn't because it was in Maori, my poor granddaughter was aghast 😂. Puts their dad to shame 😉😉😉 he was fully educated in the same area having arrived aged 4.

Nelliethehooker I did make the remark tongue in cheek. I do hope your bill isn't too bad. Rob Peter pay Paul etc it'll all work out fine. Sounds like another lovely trip planned. Ours is a bit on the hoof 😃

If you're driving to Holkham, there's a free parking area on the right as one drives up past the Pub towards the gates to the estate. It's a pleasant walk form there along to the House.

Great to hear that your granddaughter has qualified as a teacher, especially following her hospital stay, and that she's got a teaching position already, millie.

Thanks, may well check it out before we go to site. We're not overly long 6m but are high. Parking is £3 what's that on top of £30 a night 😉😂. The equivalent of a tip. I don't suppose himself will see it that way.

I heard from Adrienne today she has a booking for Baker with no contact details, thought it may be us - alas no. She said bookings are up and a visitor showed her a good review of the site in MMM. Really pleased for her but it's our bolthole 😉

If  I'd  had  to  to  wait  'til  tomorrow JVB,  I'd  have  expected  much,  much  more  than  10%  off  !!  but  the  electrickery  bit  was  needed  'cos  I'll  be  loading  the  motor  tomorrow,  as  well  as  drinking  copious  amounts  of  cooled  water  !!

Best  wishes  for  the  next  few  days  y'all  --  remember  Slip - Slop - Slap  &  wear  a  hat.

Niece couldn't identify the bat from the the photo I sent, to me it looks like a cat got it although I'm not sure how.

B2, the T&T museum is great, Mrs One mum had lots of memories of the scottish fisher girls gutting herring in the open whatever the weather along the quayside.  You could walk across the river from fishing boat to fishing boat on a Sunday as they wouldn't go fishing on the holy day.

Hope you get the van fixed quickly Nell, the potential doesn't bear thinking about.

Congrats to the grand daughter Millie, I'm full of admiration for people who take up teaching.

Thanks, Bakers2 but no pay rise apart from the pay rise I got on 1st April when the minimum wage went up from £7.50 to £7.83. The drop money remains the same at 80 pence per drop.

It is necessary if you have a holiday booked. Steve was booked to stay two nights on a club site within the 72 hours notice requird by the club for cancellation. The breakdown covers the car and caravan. I used Mayday when my car broke down.

Well done that girl Millie, you must all be so pleased for her.

We are waiting for our son's degree results, he has been a "mature" student and this was his first major study course after a big career change.

It's good to see them all making progress and tackling challenges at whatever level.

Well, up early, builders at work and I must do some too. smile smile

Good luck to your son brue.  I am full of admiration for people who tackle a degree and a career change when 'mature'.  It is such a big decision. Hope he gets the result he wants.

Bakers2. Pinewood advertise at our caravan storage depot and I had a look online but decided against it when I saw the prices laughing.  Holkham Hall is lovely. I am sure you will enjoy it. The bus seems a good option.  We found the Coast hopper bus very efficient when we were at Seacroft recently.

Enjoy your trip JVB! We are off on a rally soon, bad timing with builders but can't be helped, we can get back home if needed.

Yeovilton Air Show on Saturday, should see some interesting practice over the next few days. Watch out all on the A303, there might be a few traffic jams if travelling.
