You're on the right track, Husky. Give yourself 6 weeks or so to go up one side and down t'other - much better than just dipping a toe/paw in the loch.

Managed to spend 3 weeks on the Scottish West Coast last year, it was OK apart from the fact it rained daily and the midges.surprised  Won't be hurrying back, shorter distance for us to go to Wales, Lakes or Germany.laughing

A brilliant gig last night. Glenn Tilbrook was on great form and seemed to be having as much fun as us. Wonderful songs (most lyrics by Chris Difford) and amazing voice and guitar - acoustic and electric. And a chance to talk to other fans, who had travelled much farther than us.

We have a day out today, meeting friends in "Stur" (Sturminster Newton in Dorset) where there are two well known shops, one for crafts and one for DIY and hardware. My old school friend and myself will head for the fabrics and wool, our other halves will head for the hardware and then lunch in a pub. I've known my friend since we were both five years old at school together and we still haven't run out of news and chat. smilesmile

After three days off, it's back to work this evening for me. I'll be doing 17:00 to 21:00 so the first two and half hours of my shift will be in daylight and what a difference that will make!

By the time I get the new Smart Electric, it will be getting close to the summer solstice with maximum hours of daylight and only 6 mile commute to work, thereby giving me the full benefit of its 99 mile maximum range maybe 10 miles less using the aircon but no need for headlights or windscreen wipers on the more likely dry days.

Beautiful sunny day her and overnight frost now gone. Unfortunately waiting in for a delivery. Been having a few problems with the 12 volt hitch connection on the van, so have purchased a plug in tester, that tests both car socket and caravan plug. So I can check them out before I disassemble them.

Bought it on Amazon, wondered why it was two day delivery instead of one. It is fascinating looking at the tracker. Left a small place near Munich at 2:00pm Tuesday, then up to Nuremberg to a distribution hub, before being transferred to a U.K. bound transport. Arrived at Stanford in Essex on Wednesday evening. Overnight up to Nottingham, now showing out for delivery. Hope it arrives soon, then we can make the most of the day.

It was a sunny start this morning but seems to have clouded over now. We'll be going to Tesco Extra soon to fill up fuel for the Smart car and to do a few bits of shopping. Then back to the caravan for lunch before my afternoon snooze. I'll need to leave here before 16:30, to allow sufficient time, for my commute to Lancing, in rush hour traffic!

I feel quite rested after my three days off and glad to get back to work today as I need to make some more money! Good luck to Huskydog with his retirement plans but I can't afford to retire yet. I must keep at the grindstone!

    Interesting.

Question did it arrive Stansted Essex or Standford Essex?  Stansted has the airport, Standford Le Hope, to give its full name, close to 'new' Thames Gateway docks.

Great start to the day, clear blue and a frost. Clouding up a bit now, OH gardening and I hope to join him soon.  Put off a few indoor jobs yesterday which I'm tackling now - along with a nose on here 😉.

Brue enjoy your 'browse' round the craft shop. We have a great one in Tiptree, called the cheap shop, goes back and back. Everything from knitting, sewing, card making  and everything inbetween to dolls house making. A trip there either frightens me - too much to choose from or costs me loads as I get very enthusiastic.  Never know which way it will hit before a visit 😂. If anyone is in the area Tiptree is the home to Wilkin Jam factory which has a museum and a super tea room and little shop. They also run tea rooms in other towns and villages locally.

Malcolm hopefully you can now get yourself on target with your finances and begin to built up a safety net over the next few months 😉.

Carol quite often does beetroot and tomato soup (Slimming World recipe) which I quite like.

According to the track log it was Stanford Le Hope. I was just being lazy not typing the full name.

Yes, I hope so Bakers2. I lost a lot of time and money at work last year because of six weeks off due to a fractured wrist, 4 weeks off on a summer holiday and two weeks off for Christmas and New Year. Also 4 weeks between jobs. So I'm hoping that this year, I can make up for lost time. I need to stay free of accidents and illness and just use the days off as holiday. That could dramatically improve my financial position! Christmas and New Year are the best time for tips and people tend to tip more generously after they've had a few drinks and are feeling in a good mood! Home delivery means that they don't have to drink and drive.

This year I can maximise earnings by being available all bank holidays including Christmas and New Year. It's a question of keep providing service and keep making money!

We've just got back from filling up fuel for the Smart car, cost £27 and full tank in readiness for tonights shift. We also got a few bits and pieces of shopping done at the same time at a cost of another £21. All done using available interest free credit on my Tesco Club credit card.

Having said that, I would love to visit Scotland again but not this year. Although reducing the balance on my credit cards won't save me any money because interest free, it does make more money available when needed and I will have to pay £2800 deposit on delivery of the new Smart Electric car.

That's a lot of not doing £27 fill ups to get that back M. About 104 to be precise.🤔

Just read SteveL's post above and a thought popped into my head, it appears that those of us that don't have debts and have a little put aside for that rainy day, always seem to look for savings.  I know I do.laughing

Disaster struck at breakfast time. Mrs WN's temporary filling proved to be very temporary, so we now have to venture out onto the heavily used tourist roads to get to Chester this afternoon for an emergency dental appointment and will probably have to return home via a lot of back rods.
