The text messages from the bank are good, they send them after you've made transactions online.

I do get text reminders  from the dentist, although wish I could forget appointments sometimes! laughing

Was very dull here, now brightening but forecast is for lots of showers. Hope everything goes OK  JVB and the roads have dried up. We managed to get ours back in a clean state on Sunday.😀

We also seem to get reminder texts for more less everything. They are a very useful backup. Although I put all appointments in the iPad calendar, with an alert at 1 day before and 1 / 2 hours. As this is linked to our phones it also flags up on those as well. I am not sure how we ever managed before all this technology. Although I suspect my memory was a little better then.😂

will be annoyed if they have fenced it off and denied access for nothing to happen for months!

Hope they do for your sake H, as they can dig a set of footings and leave it at that as it classed as 'work in progress' so planning can stretch into infinity.

Just started to rain here, not that it matters as I have to stay in and await a packagesurprised

But most days were work days, no opticians, no medication, rare doctor appointment so apart from holidays calendar was pretty emptywink

WET WET WET here. Several HEAVY showers late afternoon and evening yesterday so our stepping stones in the grass are underwater.

OH has opticians appointment this morning, I'm going with him, it's going to be expensive - that's why I need to go cos he'll try to spend nothing 😤😭. Current glasses dispensed 2009. He's been with a large national company all that time, they advertise on TV 😉, change required last November. New glasses ordered ready for long over seas trip. Long story short returned afer retest alterations in store and and the the factory, money refunded a week before we went. This time he' coming to my opticians- small self owned and where satisfaction is important as well as their reputation.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of a contact lenses check - no change, booked my 6 months glasses check as cataract is developing swiftly, my contact lenses prescription has changed with it but they change as I order fresh ones every 3 months. I know I'll need new glasses this time, but will probably get single vision for distance as close work without support is no issue, to keep the cost down.

That was follwed by the dentist and a clean of my teeth. No charge, covered by my Denplan scheme which seems to work out as good,  if not better, than NHS charges, along with almost instant access should it be needed 😲.

Also sorted out the last of matured accounts so later today I'll need to update our sheet of where and what we have saved. Good for me these days as memory recall not what it was 😂😭😢 and ensures the kids will know where to look when the time comes.

Excitement doesn't get much better 😂😂😂.  Enjoy your day folks.

We're  going to have to cancel our trip to Scotland in August frown, due to putting the shop on the market at the end of the year and we need to concentrate on getting it ready ,and can't have it both ways , but I'm looking at the bigger picture when the world will be my lobster laughing

Shame you are disappointed with your car. My Venga is a petrol automatic (not really suitable for towing as its a bit lightweight). Whilst it does what we need it to do I would have much preferred to have had a diesel but they don't do it in auto form. I am sure you will find the diesel to be a much better towcar.

A letter arrived in the post today  confirming my Physio appointment, all a bit belt and braces!

Margaret had her letter about her x-ray but appointment is for when we are away in the van. Several attempts to ring and change she has failed to get through, even via the main Hospital  switchboard. Perhaps she should send them a textundecided

The hills on the Foss Way and the the A436 were a nightmares just no guts, engine at over 4000 revs and when trying to use the "manual"you could smell the hot gearbox oil ,a member on Cirencester site had had one and said they are hopeless  at towing with an thing above a camping trailer, but he now has the diesel which is fine

It's another night out today - Glenn Tilbrook (one of the founders and main men of Squeeze) at Kendal Brewery Arts Centre. I'm very quick off the mark when tickets go on sale and we we have front row seats. They're not the comfiest of seats (hard and narrow and close together), but we will be very near the stage, which is only one foot high, which makes up for it.

Then on Saturday it's the other founder and main man of Squeeze - Chris Difford - at Morecambe. No allocated seats this time so we will have to queue to get the front row. But, and it's a big but, I'm on the Guest List! I'm not really sure what the benefits are; the line in the email from Chris said -

let me put you on the guest list for the show, no need to wait around in the cold

Why such a favour you may ask? That's the reason I'm so excited and can't sleep at night. My husband was 70 in February and for a present I arranged a personal House Concert with Chris Difford. I don't know how I kept it secret for about 9 months until I gave him a home produced flyer and tickets. So in about a fortnight the man himself will be in our sitting room singing/talking/playing to us and 20 friends and family. He's an absolute master of words and lyrics and  my husbands favourite.

Sometimes I'm so excited I can hardly breathe.

And for the curious - a few links

Self service buffet and drink before Chris arrives, and available all night.

But children are not allowed to take drinks into the sitting room. And no one is allowed in there with red wine or coffee. Anywhere else you can spill what you want!

I’m not yet sure what to do with my daughters dog. But it is deaf!

Yesterday when shopping at Tesco we found some half price lamb. So we bought two legs of lamb. One of the joints was our lunch for today, roast lamb with lamb gravy and mint sauce plus roast potatoes and carrots.

    A day of mixed blessings

Opticians good eye check and slightly different results from the national chain. New glasses ordered 😲😲 double the price of 2 pairs in the national chain! But hopefully he will be able to see clearly through them.

Did bits of shopping in town for mum whilst we were out. Then did a 'big' shop, first since our return from nz.

Cheated a bit by taking  the car closer to town for later use,  made horrible noise when turning the steering wheel hard 😲😲😲. Short drive to another shop no better, limped the short distance home. Our garage can't check it over until next Wednesday we fear pothole damage, hit several unavoidable yesterday. That's put pay to a trip to visit our son over Easter and naturally I bought the M&S hot cross buns to take, thank goodness they freeze well.

Just had a quick conversation with son, looks like we only have to wait a week as he's home for the dentist the following weekend. Work behind on the farm so they won't come down this weekend - unless the beast from the east returns, which will mean they can't travel anyway 😉

Passed the hedgehog check of our garden with flying colours. Arbuthnott still sleeping soundly and we can' have him back until he wakes and has a health check. The lady who came has offered us a hedgehog house, surplus to requirements 😃 and hopes to get Arbuthnott a lady friend if possible.

What a fabulous present Goldie is that what you wanted keep hush hush?

Shame you've had to cancel Scotland Husky but I agree the bigger picture is important.

Just about the end of the day and the sun 🌞finally decided to make an appearance.  Dominant male blackbird sat on usual branch singing its tuneful song.
