Just watching on this evenings news the waves and gales have certainly caused major damage at Hemsby OP. So sad for those poor house owners who have had to evacuate.
Oh and I had our celebratory meal out today with our daughters and grand-kids. A good time was had by all.

Love art deco architecture and the hotel looks just great. Can't be certain but think I've seen it on TV.
OP, it was used in some episodes of Agatha Christie's Poirot, starring David Suchet, in 1989. Hope this helps.

There did used to be sea at Grange, hence it's name, and they used to run boat trips from the Victorian prom. But I don't know when they stopped. Must have been in the early/mid 1900's I guess, when the River Kent change course.

Woke up to another inch or so of snow on site this morning. Due to travel home but the lovely wardens said there was no rush to leave.
Luckily the snow was melting and we were able to take down the awning and dry it off for packing away. The water in the aquaroll had started to freeze, but all pipes had been ok.
We took the dog for a last run through the forest, and left mid afternoon. Trouble free journey and no snow left when we arrived home. We enjoyed our break even with the snow, and although we didn't get to do all we had wanted to we had a relaxing break, roll on the next one now.

Me too E/T but it doesn't stop for long these days. I can't remember ever seeing proper sand there, except for right down on the south end towards Kent's Bank.

Thanks nellie. I seemed to remember going to Grange in the 1960s to see one of OH's relatives who lived there and seeing the sea.

Enjoy your last few days away tammygirl. We are going to reach the dizzying heights of double figures by the time you come back 😁
A nice summer of around 25 degrees would suit me nicely cariadon.
I feel so sorry for the poor folk in Hemsby. Where will they live now? Will they get any compensation? I fear not as insurance will have been well nigh impossible.

Glad that both you H&T and the Moulesy's have been able to get back home safely.
Much better weather here too although we've still had a chill wind. The sun came out and nearly all of the snow has disappeared from the fields. We drove over to Woodall Spa for a walk in Ostler's Plantation before lunch and then through the town in the afternoon. The strange thing was that parts of Roughton Moor was all taped off with blue police tape.....wonder what's gone on there?

Glad you are safely home Helen. Great to have such helpful wardens.

Thanks Nellie & MillieH, I have just posted some pictures on the What have you seen thread of the birds life on site and the Sika deer at Arne.

The river keeps changing it's course over time, but the extent of the green estuarine grasses seems to expand year on year.

It's not much fun in the Pizza Hut kitchens on a hot day, SteveL. All those ovens blasting out heat! Now it feels comfortable at work, no sweat in these temperatures! A cold climate means higher productivity because everyone works faster to keep warm!

I thought you only worked in the kitchens if there were no deliveries? I think the chancellor might disagree on the cold climate bit, the country lost millions a day in productivity in that week long cold snap a couple of weeks ago. However, if the occasional hot conditions bother you, the answer is in your hands. The SE tends to get it hottest for longer. Where we live in North Notts, the number of days where temperatures are extreme can usually be counted on part of one hand. Go a bit further north and the incidence is even less.

Plan didn't work out yesterday as grandtwins came to ours, which was great fun. They rode their new bikes about 2 miles in the very strong, cold easterly wind. Back at our house their daddy called in and fixed a new loft ladder, 10 minute job for him, also being 6' 4" no other ladder required
.
So today going to do the things we should have done yesterday. I'll visit the van and pick up an empty gas bottle. I'll drop Mrs One off at the scout hut so she can pick up some road safety stuff for a cub competition. Then it's off to Norwich to try and buy a Safefill gas bottle. Well thats the plan

I have to go into the kitchen to collect the pizzas for delivery. On hot dry days, people tend to go out more, so there can be less customer orders, which means my having to spend more time in the kitchen. Also I have to walk around in the hot sun and sometimes climb several flights of stairs in blocks of flats to get to the customer's door. Such physical activity on a hot day makes you feel even hotter. Once I get back into the car with the aircon, it feels better.

We are just past the equinox and, as Julius was warned, "beware the tides of March"
5 -
Is that so, CY? I thought the Spring Equinox was on 21st March which would be tomorrow!
I'm glad of the lighter evenings though! It makes my job a whole lot easier!

Seems like your trying to teach an old salt dog to suck seaweed, A little googling would keep you better informed Malc
The vernal equinox is upon us: On Tuesday, March 20, both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres will experience an equal amount of daylight. For those of us here in the Northern Hemisphere, it marks the beginning of spring, with daylight hours continuing to lengthen until the summer solstice in June. For those south of the equator, it’s the beginning of autumn.

I have just read that the 'Beast from the East' might return for a 3rd time over Easter.

I'm not surprised Millie, our eldest daughter has her birthday at the beginning of April and it often snows around that time or as OH annoyingly says to her every year "it snowed on the day you were born...."
We've still got quite a bit of snow on the ground here.
