Sorry but you're wrong about that, Oneputt. A mod has just closed one thread!

The snow came back to Devon & Cornwall with a vengeance yesterday! We were due to be driving home but decided to put it off till this morning - good decision because the A30 was apparently closed from Bodmin to Exeter. Now re-opened so setting off later this morning.

That's comfortable, EasyT!

Thanks, Pliers!

I spent 4 hours working yesterday evening doing deliveries in heavy snowfall. I felt like a snowman and probably looked like one too! Nevertheless, I still managed to get piping hot, freshly cooked pizzas to the customers!

Rather cool in the County Palatine this morning !!
Clearish blue sky with much less cloud so it's looking fairly 'Spring Like'
but, by 'eck it's still perishingly cold
Fed & watered the wild birds, restocked their 'ready use' bins and by the time that was all done there was a thin layer of ice on the b/baths again
. Brian is not going to fit an immersion heater to a bird bath under any circumstances !! The pigeons, starlings & crows can put clogs on and Tap Dance ** on them to keep 'em clear !
** Pun most definitely intended
Now it's 'brave the web time' -- Council Tax due plus one of my Bright White LED reading lamps has failed so that must be replaced -- ARGOS, Amazon, EBay etc here I come !! Keep warm, safe & peaceable please byeeeee

Was there ever sea at Grange over Sands and if so when did it disappear?

Not sure but if you are ever up there between May and September check out the Morecambe Bay walks with the Queens guide.
You will definitely see ( and paddle through ) the sea.

Snow more or less gone now, just the bits where it has drifted left. What a difference a day makes, although the wind is still bitingly cold. Brue and MH, we visited Baddesley Clinton today. As you said, well worth it. Because visitor numbers were low they were doing guided tours in small groups. Lots of interesting stories from the guides. Didn't envy the Roman Catholic priests, who spent 9 hours in the priest hole, which was under the Garderobe, although I suppose it was preferable to being hung drawn and quartered. Also learnt why we call the step into a room a threshold. Apparently a small step was put in to hold the thresh that they put on the floors in the main hall, from distributing itself round the house. We spent about 75 minutes in the house and we seemed to see most of it. Then had a very nice bean stew, with excellent seeded bread, in their restaurant.

I have just had a therapy session! Chopping kindling for stove! There is something very satisfying in a small axe and some old off cuts of skirting board, a gift from a neighbour! Surprising how quickly the pile grows. True therapy lies in a much bigger axe though...........splitting seasoned logs with a damn good thwack is superb fun! All pets safely out of the way though, especially those fond of helping!

So glad you enjoyed Baddesley Clinton Steve. Its such a lovely house with an interesting story. Yes I too felt sorry the for the priests. They were difficult times. Thanks for the photo, it brought back some lovely memories.

Getting ready for work now. I'm doing 18:00 to 22:00 this evening. Just four hours and then day off tomorrow and Wednesday.
Tomorrow morning, I have an appointment with the nurse for diabetic clinic at 08:30 a.m. which means having to get up early after finishing work late!
The following morning my wife has an appointment at the surgery at the more reasonable time of 11:00 a.m.
Thursday back to work again for another evening shift. Much easier commute though!
We're now getting a bit of sunshine here in Worthing at last but it's still rather cold outside. Nice and warm in our caravan though!

The problem, brue, is it may soon be replaced by the summer heat. Thank goodness for our air-conditioning. Another reason why our caravan is more comfortable than a house! There's no air-conditioning at the house address!

Went for a walk with the grandtwins down the seafront so they could ride their new bikes. Whilst their I was staggered at the damage to the southerly end of our beach caused by the easterly gales over the last couple of weeks:

Slightly cooler today due to a few more clouds, still managed the morning by the pool though.
This afternoon we went for a drive and took the 2 elderly sisters who have the next but one apartment to us. We have got to know them over the years. They are a great laugh and OH loves winding them up, one of them always bites while the other one just sits back and laughs.
Took the to El Golfo and Los Hervideros they loved it and couldn't understand why they had not been there before.
Once back time for ice cream and a sit down.
Glad to hear the snow is melting, hopefully tomorrow it will be a little warmer as well. Needs to be we are back home on Thursday.

Summer heat in this country unfortunately seems a lot rarer than the beast from the east. ☹️ Given the choice M, I will take the heat. We just open the windows and get a through draft. It takes several days of heat before it becomes uncomfortable in a brick built house, unlike a caravan which warms up very quickly.

Hope you enjoy the last few days away TG.
Nice to see Baddesley Clinton Steve, if you get the time or return to the area Coughton Court is a good place for plotting and intrigue!
OP it seems this winter has altered a lot of coastal places, looks like you had some sunshine.
We've still got quite a bit of snow around but at least the sun has been out here too.
