Just looked the cheese up Triky, sounds interesting, hadn't heard of it before.
Millie, hope you all enjoy the pantomime and family get together.
We have cancelled our New Year trip, we need to get over these colds and don't have the energy to sort the van and just now.
Going to stay in today.

Very cold here in N Lancs. Driving up to Tarn Hows near Hawkshead for a walk with the dogs.
Not sure if planned trip to Greenacres CL at Bibury will go ahead. OH has a touch of gout in his foot so is limping around. Admits now that he ran out of tablets for a few days last week and that's when it started!
im tempted to still go myself as I do the towing etc but not sure how well that will go down😂

I would have thought that Piers Morgan not being there was a bonus!!!!

Really hard frost this morning, but yippee no mud means a clean dog after his walk
only had to do a couple of hours at work today which was nice. Waiting for a friend to arrive, not seen her for a while so it'll be a good catch up with all her news.
Hope you enjoy the panto snd family get together Millie.
Hope all those with colds and coughs feel better soon, OH was moaning about a sore throat yesterday so he'll have "flu" by the weekend no doubt.
Sorry you've had to cancel your trip Brue, hope you can get away soon.
Spent last night trying to plan a few trips for next year, trying to find somewhere we haven't been before.

the new sofa luckily didn't take as long.

We have just arrived on site. The drive over was ok the roads were a bit icey but not too bad we made it in under 2 hours which is about right. Nice and cosey in the van we are just having something to eat and then heading out to the local supermarket for some bits and pieces.

Triky, some books written by Jasper Fforde are set in a parallel universe based out of Swindon and a part of book deals with the underground sales movement of cheese which is sold by dealers behind closed doors or in clandestine meetings. Most of it comes across from the independent and heavily fortified area called Wales.
So I'm actually wondering whether this universe has transposed itself to the IOW. Be careful who you buy off, it could be an undercover cop and for goodness sake keep schtum about it unless you want to end up in chokey

Shopping done at Morrisons ,not many people in the store which was a bonus, as an even bigger bonus was the amount of "fresh" food with todays sell by date but freezable, being sold for £1 or less,we got quite a bit as freezer has loads of space, and also pies, and sausage rolls we had for lunch at 7p a pack
,
And even better was we had a £5 Morrisons more voucher to use,all paid for with our Tesco Platinum credit card

,Thanks for the 'heads -up' "Where's,but the I.o.W has a thriving industry of it's own in home produced produce.(Canterbury too has it's own cheese ) The produce over here is so fresh and fantastic .I did manage to obtain just one portion of "Blue Slipper" after my contact informed me where it was all the way across the island to Ventnor .,the last of the last production run of Christmas.Yippeeee !!
.Cheese and' biskwits' tonight

Very cold all day, but also sunny, so have completed the fitting of the Isofix brackets to DD's car. Now the baby seat can be safely fitted.
DD has ordered a pushchair that the seat can also be mounted on, so she is slowly getting organised.
OH and DD have been to Ikea to look at chests of drawers for the nursery, so the choice has been narrowed down to 2 types. Once the cot bed is in place she will measure to see what fits best.
They also bought some shelves for her study, so putting them up will be my job for next week.

Seems that supermarkets are trying to jettison their surplus food. Even Waitrose had Duchy Original organic carrots for 15p a pack today!!! Unfortunately the English Wine we purchased as a gift for an Italian visitor was still £11 a bottle.

Sorry to hear you are still feeling under the weather brue, my Mum is feeling a bit better but she has been on antibiotics for a week now. Big sister and her OH are both still feeling rough and haven't left the house since Sunday past. Fresh milk and bread delivered to them but as they are not eating much nothing else needed. Its a rotten virus, we had it before and during our visit to Spain back in November, just felt washed out afterwards. Do take care and look after yourselves.

Thanks TammyG, although I've been cooking this week I haven't eaten much. I enjoyed some left over roast veg and the last bit of turkey today which I actually enjoyed. Hope your sister and co feel better soon, it's certainly knocked us out.

Very cold overnight and all day today, the frost has not lifted but we had a lovely brisk walk after lunch this afternoon.
OH has now ordered a TV
from John Lewis, Curry's had the same one but JL were offering a 5 year warranty for the same price
New suite will wait awhile as there is nothing wrong with the one we have, its 9 years old but its still in very good condition and comfy. We saw quite a few suites that we both liked so don't think we will have a problem when we do decide to change. Luckily we seem to like the same things and OH is very easy going so if I'm happy so is he
We also managed to pick up some bargains in the fresh veg dept yesterday, lovely cauliflowers for 29p each, picked out 3 nice ones all blanched and frozen when we got home.
Hope Bakers2 got away ok.

Sad about going home tomorrow as so cosy in the caravan after 4 hours outside. New Year's eve party with friends to look forwards to. Fliss does not drink. A glass of wine a handful of times a year and a rare fortified coffee. As she is not keen on night driving though it will be soda water for me as is usually the case whenever we are out.

Our friends arrived at 11:30 a.m. and we all enjoyed chatting and catching up with each others news. After lunch, we all went for a walk through the gate at the bottom of the site and along the harbour. We went past SS Great Britain and the M Shed and crossed over a couple of bridges to get into the city centre where we stopped at a cafe for a cup of tea. The path was quite slippery in parts because of ice. However, we had magnificent weather, plenty of blue sky and sunshine and a lovely sunset as we walked back across the harbour.

We've just got up to another rainy morning. It seems a bit windy too. We might need to do another shop at Tesco Extra in Eastville off junction 2 of the M32.

Snow here in Notts, with the temperature hovering about zero. Not too heavy as yet but there is still time, as it is supposed to continue for couple of hours. Perhaps a walk later when it has passed over, sunny intervals are forecast for this afternoon.
