Couldn't you wall mount the tv, Tammygirl? That would surely save you space!

We're busy getting ready for our guests that are coming over for lunch tomorrow. So a lot of cleaning and tidying to do. There's no visitor car park on this site, so we'll need to move our Shogun forward to make room for them to park behind it. They will be arriving between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. tomorrow.
They're also in the CMC but always put their caravan to bed for the winter even though it's a modern Coachman designed for all year round use. Caravanning to them is an occasional few days away in the summer and late spring and they prefer club sites with hardstanding. The rest of the time they keep it parked on their driveway at home. It seems they tried it once and found they didn't enjoy going out in their caravan in the winter. It seems when the weather gets cooler, they prefer a few days away on a package tour using coaches and hotels.

No Snow here in this part of the County Palatine, just pale blue sky with occasional white fluffy things -- if they ain't my spare wigs then they must be clouds
.
Slowly getting back to normal here, arranging visits to those family members who have not been here yet, with time on my hands since Elderly Sister is going shopping with her daughter, relieving me of those duties 'til the new year !
Hoping that you all are warm, dry & well powered (!!) and looking forward to the New Year Celebrations
in your own chosen way !!

We're still getting plenty of sun here.
Still busy cleaning and tidying up ready for our friends visit tomorrow.
I think many posters on here would be able to identify with their way of life. They're both retired and have a reasonable sized house with a reasonable sized back garden where they grow fruit and vegetables and so are able to get produce from their own garden for their food supply. They also have a conservatory overlooking the garden. They both used to work in the NHS for over 40 years in G grade nursing positions at the time they rtired, so receive a comfortable pension. They have a smaller caravan than ours with no fixed bed, so have to make up the bed every night from the seating area. Their driveway is not long enough to fit a caravan of our size, which is why they have a smaller single axle van that does fit.

Just to satisfy the sceptics on here, our house address that we share with my cousin is large enough to accommodate him as well as us. It is a three bedroomed house and as he only uses one bedroom, there are two vacant bedrooms there. So plenty of room to accommodate us. However, if we stayed there we would have to share the other facilities such as kitchen and bathroom and why do so when we can have our own kitchen and bathroom by using our caravan?
That doesn't mean we're travellers! We don't occupy other peoples land without their permission and we always obey the countryside code. What most people object to is travellers that occupy land without permission and claim the right to stay there as permanent residents and refuse to move even after a court order to do so. They are using land that is not designated for the siting of caravans, there's no water supply or place to empty waste or bins provided for their rubbish to the extent that the place becomes an eyesore with rubbish and waste dumped anywhere and everywhere.
We don't live in that way. We stay on land that the owner has given us permission to use for a fee, site fee. Land that is provided with a designated drinking water to tap to fill the aquaroll and a designated waste emptying point, plus designated bins for rubbish etc.

Malcolm,
I am sure that there are many people who do not wish to have a large twin axle and the limitations that such a van brings. You do not see many such vans on CL/CSs and I believe they are missing out so much. Before everyone jumps in I accept some twin axle owners may use CLs but I expect it is in the minority

Thank you, ABM. My CMC membership is automatically renewed each year by direct debit.

Glorious sunshine and blue skies, albeit cold.
It's the first full day of work today, with our farm worker back. My husband and son have been "taking it easy" - only working from 5 - 8.30 in the morning and 3 to 6.30 in the afternoon.
And after the big push to feed ten of us on Christmas Day (with food enough for 50 I think), I've not had to worry too much about cooking. Sooner or later I'm going to have to tackle the carpet - how can one elderly visiting dog leave so much hair behind!
But first, another quiet sit and read of a book.

Yes I agree, Grant705, that getting our twin axle on to Lancing Fruit Farm CL is not easy. The road on the approach is full of potholes and very narrow, single track. So it's necessary to swing out almost over the edge of the road to angle up into a position whereby it is possible to fit through the gate. However, it is possible, only just and we have seen other twin axle caravans there from time to time. The other alternative is to unhitch and use the motor mover.
In our friends case, it's not the width of the driveway but the length that they have to consider.
If ever I did rent or buy a house, unlikely, I would want a driveway that is at least long enough to park our existing caravan. Having got used to a caravan with a fixed bed and more space, we wouldn't want to change to something smaller.

I doubt that Goldie will be sitting there long enough to need that, ABM. Farm work is very demanding so she'll soon be back on her feet again!

One of the best bits of all that frantic-ness before Christmas is the overcatering 😆. Meaning you can feed everyone good decent food with minimal effort 😉. I'm delighted to say that we have had sufficient 'supplies' with less to go in son' 'red cross parcel' than expect 😂😂. Once his partner arrives (she is coming but setting out much later, hopefully on the road by now) she will be treated to an exotic dinner of the last of the cold cuts pickles and jacket potatoes.
I'm sitting back now, only morning bits to be packed. 😆😆. Sleet keeps trying we did have a snow settle an hour or so ago but thankfully it's gone. I think ice is going to be a bigger problem - gritter went up the road over an hour ago.
Stay safe and warm folks.

The open, log fire is certainly well used at this time of year. Saves a lot on the gas fired central heating as thermostat turned well down.
I do hear rumblings from the 'greenies' how that such fires are nearly as bad as Petrol and diesel vehicles when it comes to pollution. My answer is that I am recycling the CO2 to the trees so that can split it up and give off oxygen.

We've just been for a walk by the harbour. We visited the corner shop, McColls about 100 yards from the site to buy some more milk. We also bought a couple of postcards from the warden which I completed writing on and sent one to work and another to my cousin at the house address. It was a long walk to get to the post box but we got there in the end!
It's getting dark now so time to get some evening entertainment and a drink with some nibbles.

We drove down to Cornwall this morning for our stay through to after New Year. A bit tricky driving to start with - quite a bit of snow on the M4 and around Bristol on the M4 (and still idiots whizzing past in the outside lanes which hadn'the been gritted!
).
Not to sure what to expect down here - we had a message from our neighbours at the weekend to say the park ran out of gas on the day before Christmas Eve - so no one had any heating, hot water or gas for cooking! Fortunately they had an emergency delivery on Sunday afternoon so all was well and they'd kindly put the heating back on for us so it was nice and snug by the time we arrived.
We had a stroll down on the beach this afternoon, curtailed by a sudden hailstorm - such is life - but forecast is good for tomorrow so it'll be nice to get out and about.
Hope everybody had a good Christmas and has recovered from any overindulgence!

I have to say I'm a little jealous of all you people out there who are camping over the holidays, for various reasons we're unable to get away for New Year this year so I'm stuck at home. Not to worry though, we're still very lucky.
Have a fab time in your vans wherever you are, I hope you have fun!!
I'm doing a chicken curry for tea tonight to try and use up some leftovers from the last couple of days 😂😂

Quite a bit of snow overnight and bitterly cold, especially walking back with the dog when we turned into the wind. Overslept this morning
as I was back at work today
not too busy thank goodness.
Just used the last of the leftovers for tea,
Moulesy have a lovely time in Cornwall.
