You have only got to look out from the coast here and you will see a huge number of wind turbines that are generating green electricity, plus solar panels etc. Gone are the days when electricity was produced by burning coal!

My wife says she has no time to go out to work. She has enough to do managing the caravan and awning!

wink Sunny and bright here on the East Kent coast ,but heavy frost.Off to the boatyard soon ,,,in my new economic 1700cc twin turbo diesel (blown) Volvo V90,,eight speed automatic !!  sealed. STUFF your electric vehicles .It will cost far more to produce electricity for all those projected vehicles .Pollute the atmosphere more in producing new and replacement batteries.Building power stations to cope.Installing power points everywhere .Disposal of dead batteries .Oh !! the list goes on & on !! It's all pie in the sky at the moment for what's left of OUR lifetime !!All the research and development is fine & dandy to placate the 'do gooders' etc ,BUT when our health and the future of our children and the planet takes precedent over commercialism and profit ,,,maybe then future generations WILL benefit.undecided.  I.M.O surprised.

Still -4C here but very bright and sunny.

Because it was so clear last night I took the opportunity to spend time in the garden looking at the night sky through the bino's, spectacular is the only word to describe it.  Didn't see the large asteroid that was (according to some news channels) going to threaten our world even though it passed by somewhere between 2 and 4 million miles awaysurprised

Not going very far today although I may go to church this evening for the festival of 9 carols and readings.

    Stay safe and warm all

No, Bakers2, because changing to EV is definitely what I am up to and perhaps what others on here could be up to too. So it's relevant to the title of this thread! So definitely within the spirit of this thread!

Agree Bakers2 I'am sure a new thread discussing EV's would be better, as there seems to be a lot to discuss.

We won't be  buying one, any time soon. winkwinklaughing

We have threads running on EVs in other parts of the forum...strangely enough I recognise some of the input being repeated on here and I am increasingly aware that someone is just repeating those posts. If people responded to genuine  "what are you doing" posts we'll be back on track.....wink

Helenandtrevor there has been research into the assistance of swearing. It apparently allows keeping your hand in a bucket of ice cold water for longer. Why would you? 😉 but I suppose they must have a standard method of testing and measuring 😲 for baselines. I would expect it's similar for other reasons.

I don't bake too often these days as I'm too fond of eating 😉. This is for Christmas but I suspect our son will leave with a jolly full hamper of anything that will spoil in our absence 😂😂. OH reckons our freezer is filling when it should be emptying 😉

Oh brue sorry to hear that. I hope you don't suffer as severely. But then again maybe you should be nursed 😉.

That's all very well, triky but what about renewable energy that is being produced by harnessing energy from the wind and sun through wind turbines and solar panels? Don't you think that's a cleaner and greener present as well as future as well as being cheaper? That's where the power will come from to keep EV batteries fully charged.

EasyT good to hear you're enjoying your new van. I hope your cold is better and you have a great break.

I seem better but seem to sleep for an hour or so before and after dinner.

We have the first of our carol services this evening. Due to the constraints of a 12th century church, we have a second one tomorrow evening at a slightly later time. The regular congregation are being encouraged to attend that to make room for the 'Christmas, Easter and wedding' brigade. As you canine crew know, God is for life, not just for Christmas. wink

I'm off to see my Mum today, have got the slow cooker on for the return, both of us are feeling groggy but Mum has just thrown off a cold so I don't think she'll get ours. Hope you all enjoy the day ahead.

I’m just enjoying a quiet time on my own. One minute the house was full of children and grandchildren, and now it’s just me. My husband will be in soon from farm work and no doubt fall asleep while reading the paper.

No shopping or cooking to do, as I seem to have “over catered” last night.

I had better make the most of it, as I fear/hope brother, niece and children are coming round later.

And the washing up can wait. Out of sight, ought of mind.

We have our friends from Peterborough staying for a pre Christmas get together. Yesterday the weather was lovely, cold but sunny, so we went over to one of the nearby villages for a walk and a pub lunch.

Today's plan was to go to Cirencester for a walk through the park and to show them where the club site is as it's one they've always said they're keen to stay at. Then on to The Bell at Sapperton for Sunday lunch.  But the forecast is for heavy rain later this morning, though you wouldn't think so looking out the window now. So we may have to forego the walk and spend an extra hour in the pub! wink

Me too! I have an afternoon nap after lunch so that I can recoup some energy to work the evening shift!

The boss rang me to ask me to come in an hour earlier so that I'll be doing 17:00 to 22:00 instead of 18:00 to 22:00. So more pay and more tips hopefully!

Whoops cock up on the catering front 😲 no eggs. Will have to swop jobs around and shop first. Just having a fortifying cuppa. I'll be walking so that will limit 😉 supplies purchased. No point in sitting in a gridlocked car park.

Good idea, brue. I think the slow cooker is what we'll be using when our new EV is being charged. The slow cooker runs on very little power, only 100 watts.
