We have just returned from a nice 2 night stay at Lomond Woods caravan park. This was our first time away in new caravan and thankfully a great success the layout is great and works better for us than our motorhome layout did. Weather was very cold all weekend but we went to a nice christmas fayre yesterday. Today the ice was gone but very wet outside. A nice hours drive home now sitting watching the football. Home for Christmas then away in the van again between christmas and new year looking forward to that.

Erm......just wondering........if one finds oneself stuck for any length of time on that carpark known as the M25, not at a standstill, but shuffling at a very low speed........what happens if you are in an EV? Other linear car parks are also available, M1, M5, A1 etc...

    Serious enquiry, just wondering.

It might be a problem in the dark if you had to keep your headlights on all the time or could you reduce power by switching over to city lights? In urban driving on well lit roads, is it necessary to use dipped headlights all the time?

I now have Mr Brue's cold, that is my news.

It must be a mistype because I'm sure that it's flu that you have Brue, granted it might be Man-Flu but this is definitely not a cold.

Now that Mr.Brue has fully recovered from his 24 hour man-flu it's about time you received the nursing. Remember just the rest of the day to suffer.cry

Really miserable day of constant rain today- but OK. Wood fire going and watching the Ospreys on T/V.If dry tomorrow will cut down another tree to stock up for 24 months. Saves a lot on Oil.

Bakers2, No we didn't need thermals in the Cathedral last night. We estimated that there must have been about 1000 people there last night and we kept each other warm 😁. We certainly needed them this morning though, it was freezing. ❄❄. When we came out it was raining freezing rain. We went to have soup, a mince pie and coffee at our daughter's to warm up. We are flying to Belfast from East Midlands airport this time, it takes about 50 - 60 minutes, depending on the wind 😕Sometimes we fly from Stansted, it depends on price. I hope you have a good and safe journey to NZ. I presume you fly from Heathrow? I hope you have a wonderful time with your family there. I bet the grand-daughters are getting very excited.

brue, sorry to hear you have your OH's cold and hope you feel better soon.

EasyT and Francis I am so pleased to hear your new caravans are such a success.

moulesy, whatever you all do today I hope you have a good time. Tell your Peterborough friends that the weather is just as bad here. I hope Harry and Lady are enjoying being spoiled.

Helen and Trevor, I hope the supermarket scrum wasn't as bad as you feared.

I am now off to do a practise pack for N. Irealand to see how many clothes I can fit round the presents 😂

We got an Elddis Affinity 554, picked it up in June , have had quite a few breaks in it now, most recently at Ferry Meadows in the snow, and so far so good. Loving the Alde heating which we haven't had before.

Thanks milliehull.  Yes we fly from Heathrow.  Your journey time much shorter than ours 😂😉. 27.5 hours this time, just a short stopover for plane change in Kuala Lumpur of 1.5 hours. Hopefully we will get to stretch our legs this time, not my favourite airport, last time we had an hour there but we're 1.25 hours late going up from Heathrow.  How do folks check in and forget to get to the gate on time? So 9 planes held at KL, our gate was immediately next to one we came out from 😆, others not so lucky so run or fast walk.

I know what you mean about what else you're taking. Our stuff is out together with the odds and ends we've purchased for them. We get very good baggage allowance and hand luggage but it's space 😲. At least we know it'll be warm/hot whilst we're there so easier to pack than a UK trip 😉. Plus the washing machine is in daily use for them so we can just recycle.

Edit forgot food treats of UK shops but this is hand luggage, much easier for the rigorous  NZ screening.

Funny day today weather wise. We had lovely sunshine, freezing conditions but nice winter weather. Drove into Perth to see Mum and as we went down the A9 it became very grey then foggy once on the outskirts of the city, we don't often get fog here, assume it must be because the ground is still frozen solid but the air temp is rising undecided

Got Mum's room trimmed up for Christmas and the home is looking good with all its trimmings up, the staff do work very hard at making things look nice. They had a Christmas party for the residents on Friday with an entertainer coming in, by all accounts they all had a good time and I believe a visit from Santa.laughing Saturday morning a group of young adults (teenagers) came and gave a fiddle concert for the residents.

Once back home we did the last bit of painting in the lounge, tomorrow it will just be a couple of rolls of wall paper to hang on the fire breast, fancied a change so we have got the same paper we put on the feature wall in the adjoining dinning room. Then it will just be a good polish of the oak furniture and shampoo the carpet, new curtains to iron and hang and that should be us done.

Bakers2, I asked the OH if he would consider re-signing on again, unfortunately his reply is not something I could post laughing

Malcolm, you have a unique way of looking at things, just glad you don't teach my Gkids economics.

Francis and ET, glad to hear that you are both enjoying your new vans.

MillieH, last night sounds wonderful so glad you enjoyed it.

Slow cooker been on all day so very little to do now towards dinner which is a good job as I have now to sort out the mess and get those curtains ironed.frown

Oh forgot went out mid afternoon for a walk and delivered the village Christmas cards, pavements still very icy but no fog here.wink

Tammygirl that's exactly the reply I expected from your OH.

Gee do you ever rest? 😂

Made our cake, taking forever to cook. Normally 2-2 1/2 hours been in 3 hours and more and hardly cooking 😲. It's only an ordinary fruit cake that I make regularly. I do hope the oven isn't playing up 😲😲

Gosh Tammygirl, what you are going to do tomorrow would be a week's worth of jobs for melaughing I wish I had your energy - but perhaps I did have 10 years ago.undecided

What a long flight Bakers2 - but well worth it I know. How long will you be in NZ for?

I have had the practise pack with added 'help' from Mr H.yell He kept transferring things from one suitcase to another in the hopes we could get away with booking in what they call a 'smaller' suitcase.  I can't seem to get him to understand that it is small as in weight not in size. Things are now squashed and I am totally confused and very stressed yell I will try again tomorrow. frown

One set of curtains ironed ready to hang, lounge has 2 windows, dinner just about ready. OH tackling his bits of ironing.

I think packing suitcases is always stressful especially if you get 'help' laughing

I love being busy when we are at home, I get my break when we are away. As we don't have our boys and their families living up here our Christmas will be low key so no need to be baking like I used to.

Presents and cards all done and delivered. Everything on track for a relaxing Christmas day wink

We have 80 days away from home. Flight costs similar however long you stay 😉. I had a work colleague  who's son lives in Melbourne and she did a week 😲😲😲. With the the time difference we leave 10am Thursday arrive 11.30pm Friday.  Coming back we get a 36 hour day. Flight just after midnight 2 x 12 hour, roughly,  flights stopover and home about 7.30pm. We like to try to arrive both ends at bedtime local time it helps with the jetlag 😉.

Much better to test things on your own 😉

Edit packing here is done by OH. I once packed for our holiday when the children were little and he was working long hours. It was all unpacked and repacked. Lesson learnt. His stress these days.  I do my folding. Although however well it's folded and packed 3 days in the case tends to leave ceases 😉

Our neighbours are off to NZ in the New Year, visiting their family over there, I think they are going a bit later than you B2. I had a letter from my cousin last week asking when they were going to see a motorhome parked up on their drive....hint.  Hope we can get out there before becoming too decrepit, that said our neighbours are in their eighties and still tackling long-haul.

My Mum was not so good today, refused any offers of putting a few Christmassy things in her room (she has a box of things we usually put up at this time of the year.) As none of us were feeling too good it was one of those visits that didn't go so well. That said she might perk up tomorrow.

I might take a walk out in a minute, the street decorations are impressive and I always like a stroll around them, will take grandson on a viewing session at the end of the week. smile
