What are you all up to

At last good news for me. I came home from hospital last night. I’m now sitting in a comfy recliner by the Aga catching up with what’s been happening at home.
We don’t think we’ll get away in the caravan this year. A step too far for me. So maybe a couple of nights in a posh hotel later in the year.

That IS good news @Goldie146 ! Here's wishing you a complete recovery - just take it easy!

Great News @Goldie146 take it easy and take care. A few days in a lovely hotel is something to look forward to and aim for.
We had a week away in north Norfolk last week. Mixed weather, but didn't catch us out, 😉 almost once! Did very very little and came home refreshed.
I fear I switched off again this morning! Headed off with the dog for a good walk, a few steps into it my phoned pinged - reminder of hair appointment in one hour! Swift round the block, no gardening on our return either..... Had changed the bed first thing, went to peg out the bedding on our return, couldn't recall putting detergent in - so rewash. By the time I was back and pegged it out weather on the turn! So its been in and out a couple of times, out again at the moment, almost dry 🤞. Glorious sun interspersed with HEAVY thundery showers.
Managed to move the pots, grouped together for ease of neighbour watering, to their places. Still not succeeded in planting plants, hopefully tomorrow or Friday.
Thought Friday was 'free' day...... Learned grandson's postponed May Day - maypole dancing now Friday so don't want to miss that and Saturday its carnival in son's village, both grandson's taking part, youngest will be in his pushchair i presume. So that's another outing. Sunday open gardens at Elton on the calendar, must check out what that actually means....
Great to read folks news and see photos, keep them coming.

Great news @Goldie146 so pleased to hear that you are now back home. I know you will be taking things as easy as will be allowed to by the family. One step at a time, and all that!
It sounds as if you have an enjoyable if busy weekend ahead of you @Bakers2 Glad you had a relaxing week away in Norfolk.
It has been a day of sunshine and showers but we managed to avoid most of the rain during our walks around the Country Park where the site is situated.

There's nothing like sleeping in your own bed to aid recovery. Best wishes @Goldie146. Everyone at the farm must be well pleased.

@Goldie146 pleased to hear that you are home, now wishing you a speedy full recovery.
Managed two full days of gardening before this cloudy rainy weather. Tripped over a stone plant pot and managed to obtain a very blue swollen toe and foot. Now going down and the pain has subsided, I find I’m more prone to tripping lately and I do try to pick the gardening tools up straight away after use but didn’t avoid the plant pot.
Our road into town, and most other places, closes on Monday so a very big shop at Tesco yesterday to stock up. It’s the talk of everyone we meet locally and will cause so many problems for so many people. Even the check out assistant was saying how badly it will affect her with work as the bus can’t then get anywhere near to her house. OH has his cardiac appointment at the hospital on Monday morning, the GP has asked them to bring it forward. As it’s the first day of the road closure we will have to give it over an hour to do the now 15 miles, which is only actually 4 miles away, as we really don’t know what the traffic will be like, all channelled into one road. But really glad they gave him the quicker appointment.
As it’s raining today is earmarked for sorting out some clothes for the charity shop, I’m not good at getting rid of stuff so we shall see how effective that will be.0 -
Excellent news @Goldie146 , so good to hear you are back home.
Busy few weeks for us, one way and another, but we are fine. Just wish this awful weather would change.

I’m home and taking it very steadily. I can’t get upstairs to the bathroom (and wonderful large walk in shower), so ever since I have been incapacitated we have improvised. We have large hall with quarry tiles, so I stood in a large drip tray from the dairy- whilst still holding onto my frame - and OH poured jugs of water over me.
But tomorrow it will be better - we have bought a camping shower! It’s setup ready to go.

@Goldie146 All our facilities are upstairs and when I was in Re Hab there was a concern how I would manage. Obviously our circumstances are not the same but they got me walking up and down stairs as part of the physio and they also got more stair rails installed. Stairs are still not easy but I manage, got no choice if I want the loo!!!!! Good luck with your recovery and I hope things become easier as time goes by. Would you have the option of a Stair Lift? Probably more difficult in an older building but perhaps worth exploring?

We haven't been able to get away recently for various reasons one of them being our normal carer had her car in the garage for several weeks. However we have scrounged 2 nights away as she's up and running again.
We've come to Overwater Marina CL about 5 miles south of Nantwich. First time here. We decided on this one as the weather forecast was poor so we thought we'd just relax, maybe get a walk in tomorrow if we feel like it.
The forecast was spot on, unfortunately for today. Teemed down this morning so much that I found my waterproof shoes weren't as waterproof as I would like them. Fortunately we were quite close to a Go Outdoors outlet, so an expensive start to the day, particularly as we topped up the LPG and the Diesel on the way here.

Hope the weather improves for you tomorrow @Wherenext and you can walk in your new footwear.
Just spotted the first patch of blue sky of the day, but it will be very quickly swamped by grey rainclouds I fear. Although it has been raining off and on all day we managed to stay reasonably dry during our walks. It was not worth going out in the car so we stuck to the forest paths from the site. It is a bit busier on the site tonight but there have been more empty pitches each night than we have ever seen during our previous visits here.

Arrived at Woodlands Fishery site, near Spilsby, Lincolnshire, yesterday afternoon after what was probably the worst towing experience I have had for a long time. The rain was absolutely lashing down all the way - visibilty was restricted in front from all the spray from other vehicles and I couldn't see a thing behind me in my mirrors because of the spray I was causing. Not a relaxing journey at all.
However, the site is beautiful😀. It only has 18 pitches which are surrounded by 5 fishing lakes which I shall be 'sampling' during the coming week since the weather looks to be getting better. Those pitches are set in small terraces, each looking out over the lakes. It really is quite stunning and very peaceful. Plus it's very reasonably priced.
There is a slight downside, though. It's not mentioned in any of the on-line descriptions that there's a resident flock on Canada Geese on site and we all know what they're good at! There's goose poo everywhere - and I mean - everywhere🙄. They are entertaining, though - here's mum and dad taking little ones for a walk - right in front of our van - and then guarding them while they had a kip🦆.

WN, Our shared narrowboat is moored at Overwater and I stayed there in my M/H 4 years ago to do a recce, when we were looking to relocate! I found the CL very pleasant to stay at and we are really enjoying our mooring there as well. It's a lovely walk along the canal into Audlum and back and Nantwich is an interesting town to have a wander around, but of course you have to have reasonably good weather for that.
It was such good news to read that Goldie is now back home and managing to cope, with some ingenuity!
Richard, Woodlands Fishery looks an excellent place to stay, but I can fully understand your comments about the drive there as driving in such conditions is not exactly a bowl of cherries. It is something which I always try and avoid if I possibly can, by keeping an eye on the weather forecast and leaving it as late as I can to book, but sometimes it is simply not feasible to do that.
Hope the weather improves for us all soon and best wishes to all who are not too good at the moment.

That looks a lovely site @richardandros, don’t forget to add it to the Small Private Sites thread if you don’t mind👍 I would add that it’s not just private sites that suffer with wildlife invasions, we used to watch a couple sweeping their grass pitch at Marazion a couple of times a day trying to get rid of the bunny poo🤣
It’s not raining here at the moment. Hoping for at least a couple of hours respite. 🫣

Good to hear that you are making progress Goldie.
Can’t believe that the grandtwins are 12 years old today. Unfortunately we won’t see them this weekend as they are off to Nottingham where Sophie will be playing in a football competition
Have a good weekend all, just hope the weather improves

"Overslept", if such a thing is possible on a day off 😀, but it allowed the remnants of the rain to pass through. We then donned boots and walked to Audlem, about 30-40 minutes south along the towpath of the canal. Lovely walk, lovely little place. Must be doing well as they still have at least 3 active pubs. Treated ourselves to a cider or two at the Shroppie Fly, sat alongside the canal. @vbfg will be pleased as we made a contribution towards the Canal trust as there was a volunteer by the pub.
I can see why you'd moor here @vbfg. Lovely place, friendly staff, nice cafe, and wonderful countryside. You can see the stress falling off OH. Some photos.
View from canal side seat at the pub.
Looks like a storage building next to the canal.

What foul weather yesterday. It teemed with rain all day and was quite chilly. We had arranged to meet some friends at The Bull Hotel in town for lunch and we got drenched just walking from the bus stop which is only a few yards. However it was good to meet up and we hsd a nice lunch. We put the fire on when we got home as we felt damp and chilly. Commiserations to @richardandros for a horrible tow yesterday. I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. Much better day today. Much warmer with bright sunny weather this afternoon with a brisk breeze so I got my washing dry outside - at last!
No great plans for the weekend. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hope the weather holds fair for all those away. That looks a fine site @richardandros and fingers crossed that you have success with the fishing. Glad you were able to get a good walk in today @Wherenext and kept dry feet!!😄
It has been a day of sunshine and frequent short, but heavy at time, showers and a stiff wind. OH did a round of washing first thing and most of it dried outside before we left Beecraigs. Had our shortest every tow between sites, all of 3 mls, down to a THS, and we were the first visiting unit to arrive! Had a couple of walks down to the Loch before dinner this evening.

It has been very wet here today, not all the time, but frequent very heavy showers. Windy too.
I have been doing stuff in the caravan, fitting parts DD has printed to heighten the drawer sides and back to contain the cutlery and utensil holders she is also printing. Still have to fix up some (additional) hooks in the kitchen and bedroom, nothing provided for hanging up dishtowels or jackets/other clothing. Though we knew what was provided, for the price of the van I feel they could have provided a few more hooks. We will very much miss all the towel hanging space in our old van. Going to start weighing stuff and loading up the van tomorrow, I have the spreadsheet ready!
OH saw GP today re letter from physiotherapist suggesting back x-rays and better pain relief. She was told no point in x-rays as they will not help, wear and tear is to be expected as you get older. Pain relief discussed and a prescription issued for low strength co-codamol to try using along with paracetamol. GP said the aim is to “take the edge off the pain”, stronger stuff has its disadvantages as can affect kidneys and bring on confusion.
Chest was listened to and found to be fine, blood pressure to be monitored at home for a week, and a blood test booked for after our upcoming trip. So, basically this is something she will just have live with as part of growing old, and there is nothing much to be done about it. Not good news!
Stopped in past our recently opened Sainsbury’s to buy dinner and a few ready meals to freeze for later/take with us on holiday. We bought Taste the Difference Moussaka, which we have had several times before, but this one was very disappointing as the aubergine slices were obviously not properly cooked, and too tough to eat. Time to give them some feedback on that!
Had not used the Touareg for a couple of weeks so were going to take it today as we wanted to go shopping and take OH’s wheelchair, it it was completely dead. Have charged up the battery now and managed to get it started, but a new battery may be needed. Does not feel like that long since I replaced the original battery, car is now just under 10 years old so seems poor to need another new battery so soon?

Of course they are - silly me🙄. Much better day, yesterday and the afternoon turned out to be quite hot and sunny whilst I was fishing. Managed to catch 6 fish in about a couple of hours - only tiddlers, though - 4 perch and a couple of bream. There are supposed to be some 15lb carp in that particular lake, but I thought I'd break myself in gently - not having fished for over 15 years! (Well that's my excuse, anyway!). I did seem to spend an awful lot of time untangling my reel until I worked out what I was doing wrong.
Delighted to read about Sir Kevin Sinfield this morning - a VERY much deserved honour in my opinion - a gentle and humble man who has done so much for the MND community and has set an example of the importance of thought for others, to us all.
Hope all goes well with you picking up your new puppy @DSB today, David. I couldn't forget it was today, since it's my birthday!
Sorry to hear about your battery problems @KjellNN. When my Treg was 10 years old, I had the battery changed regardless of the fact that there was nothing wrong with the old one because I thought it wouldn't last much longer - but you seem to have already done that and I hope I didn't make the wrong decision! It's a big job as well, since - as you know - the passenger seat has to come out to change the battery.

..Thank you @richardandros ..... We're picking her up from Doncaster this morning... on our way in about half an hour.
Have a good birthday today..... 🎂🍷🎂🍷🎂🍷🎂
