Thanks, have passed that on.  Haggerston would certainly be in the running, we went there about 22 years back for a mid term break, DD took a friend along, they both enjoyed it.

The touring pitches look a little "tired" in the few pictures we found, so will read reviews carefully.  Certainly plenty of things to keep the little people entertained, and plenty of places to go too.

Just worried it might be too long a drive for DD, but she will be the one deciding.

In October they had  week at Tantallon near North Berwick, which they all enjoyed.

I agree Ttda. We were there last September and really enjoyed it. Hadn't been that way for a good few years but won't wait as long again.

I'm a sucker for Travelogues and have just watched catch up with Portillo. The man is a bit of a pain but the areas are great and have just watched the one with North Berwick in it. Makes you want to go back.

A very quiet day for me today. Mrs WN just received a parcel with new to her paints in so guess what she's been doing? So I was left to my own devices quite happily I must say. She's been making a lot of "swatches" to marry up the new paints with existing ones. She does like to analyse matters. No bad thing.

Sorry I was a bit premature Bakers but good luck anyway. We've exchanged and moved on the same day before but apart from Father-in-law asking the incumbent when the baby was due when she wasn't pregnant everything went well.laughing Mrs WN also had laser treatment after cataract ops and she said it's easy peasy.

Don't they have H/S on the non-CL site if I remember correctly, might be worth asking, Kjell.

There's also Paxton House, which is in the same area. It was a CL but is now a small commercial site with H/S. Play area around by the big house and walks down to the Tweed.

Grey start to the day again but the sun came out later. We didn't do much, an early visit to Aldi and then daughter came round for a few hours to deliver some goodies from her latest travels and give us an update on SIL's parents......not looking good, unfortunately.frown

Best of luck to all that are in the process of moving homes, not a thing that we've ever done in over 50 yrs of marriage. However the day will come sometime,  but I think our move will in no way became traumatic as B2's.

    Just having a catch-up on CT, and, Nellie, you’ve been in my back yard! {or near enough}
Downham is a lovely village, the 1960s film, Whistle down the wind was filmed there.

Barley village isn’t pretty at all, but is very good base for walks over Pendle hill, over to Downham or Clitheroe, then catching the hourly bus back.

We’re just up the road from Barley, at Newchurch in Pendle, witches county 😱, nip in for a chip butty and a beer next time you’re in the ‘hood 🙂

We've booked Paxton House for our visit to see NE famiy, we used pitchup.com, a good web site to find places and booking is easy on there. I think Paxton House communications were affected by the storms earleir this year so we had to wait for things to get back on line.

More storms in the NE yesterday affected our son again. Last time the damage was to the kitchen roof and back of the main roof. This time the front roof and tiles damaging their car and another large tree down locally, leaning on some unlucky person's home. Hope those further up on the eastern side were ok.

Yesterday we had a good evening out, an evening of big band sound, one of my favourites played was the Stevie Wonder song "I wish" which they really got into. A great blast of music! (And we all wore masks to listen.)

It's been a beautiful frosty morning here so we've been off for a walk through the local woods, the birds are singing and maybe I'll get some on the rspb list today as yesterday was too windy for any self-respecting birds to appear. smile

There’s that lovely Chainbridge Honey Farm private site around there as well brue, not sure if it’s AO though🤔 Honey Farm is very interesting, great cafe on an old double decker bus.

Beautiful morning here. OH is out testing out the locals knowledge of new Highway Code, (😱 I have him on a tracker), while I took the pooch for a stroll, and am now tackling a big herbaceous border, and finding the garden is waking up nicely. I think this has been the mildest Winter I can recall in this house, I even have a Carnation, in a tall pot, in flower. No protection whatsoever. Not sure whether to be happy, or worried😯

    Yes, Chainbridge is adult only.

Looked at Paxton House, but with no facilities and no serviced pitches, I will pass on that when there will be 5 of us!   £25 per night.     Also, although pitches have hardstanding, it is narrow and access is over the grass.  Could be fine, but......

Lucky you TDA dong some gardening not here although the frost and fog have now gone thankfully but rain forecast for Monday so will start on some painting some trim in the lounge and dining area, have got some new shutters to paint and the inside doors and door frames to do, just had a glimpse of sun but it has been very dull and gloomy, did have 2 different scabious plants out in flower even with the frosts although it looks like I may have lost a large Yucca plant I put in last year grr.

Having a lazy Sunday here, we were going to friends tomorrow but now cancelled as 1 friend as tested postive and she has had all jabs just feels like she has a nasty cold so waiting for another test on Tuesday and hopefully negative this time as she does not have patience and always busy doing things and 2 donkeys to look after but not much you can do until the negative test, her village has had a lot of the Omicron variant mainly school children so we are staying away, another friend was with her on Friday but she has tested a few times now and still negative and as she still works mainly cleaning jobs and she is staying at another friends house for two weeks cleaning looking after 2 dogs 1 cat and 3 horses good job she has grown up with horses and knows all the issues with horses, although she only has 2 donkeys as well plus 2 newish cats so will be busy for awhile.

Have got some bulbs popping through but they have slowed down with the frosts.

TDA. I'm slightly anxious about "mild winters" let's hope the weather doesn't catch us out, we've certainly had some heavy frosts recently.

Hope your friend tests negative soon RedKite, sensible to keep your distance!

Kj hope you find somewhere, I didn't think Paxton House would suit but was interested to hear it mentioned, we're only on a short visit there but wanted to see the house and garden before heading off towards home. Have you looked at Parkdean, they have sites in the NE with touring pitches.

Been busy today. Got up this morning and the weather was ok so I moved the caravan out on to the middle of the drive and gave it a good clean even done the roof which was filthy it’s been almost a year since the roof was last cleaned so well overdue. Anyway the vans now back in it’s space nice and clean ready for the season ahead. It’s pouring now and the wind is picking up so think we are getting this storm now.

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend

No, a fine site,  but does not have all the facilities the little ones might want. Only basic play area.   Kids these days apparently want more!

Plus....when you add an extra adult.....it gets rather pricey!

Lauder would be better price wise, but still little for the little ones to use  compared to a commercial site.

It would seem, when you have us 2 plus Mummy and the 2 little people, the Clubs do not have the  best prices all the time, nor the preferred facilities.

However the commercials in the area are also charging top whack......£40+ per night  is pretty common.  Some even £50.

They have booked a pitch on a good site at St Andrews over Easter, good play area plus indoor pool.  Serviced pitch......£30 per night which I now reckon  could  be a bargain.  However, same as they paid on the 2 sites they used  last year.

We are going June 12th, so not what I consider peak season.

Will confirm with DD tomorrow, as we are going with them to a nearby soft play place to celebrate  Nathan's birthday,  but she is favouring Haven Haggerston, despite a 3 hour drive.

£25 per night all in, not serviced, but there are of course facilities she can inspect.  And if not up to standard, we can always press Callum into service to fetch the water!!

He was actually thrilled to be fetching and emptying water last year at CCC Glencoe and Oban!!!

They do have serviced pitches for £39 per night.

Just need DD to decide on dates now.

K, if you do stop at Haggerston, it’s a short drive to this place, which the little ones might love…..

Nice restaurant for the adults as well. It’s also only half a mile from Cocklawburn Beach, which is fabulous for children.

Pretty bad weather today,  a little sun but rain all afternoon, and wind getting up.

Disappointing also, as Ikea pulled out of delivering our order as planned.   Got up at 06.45 as delivery  was 07.00-11.00, only to find a text sent overnight saying delayed till next Sunday.  Just as well we had no tradesmen hired in.  No reason given  for delay, suspect the high winds.

Need  to start work on our bathroom soon as OH is fed up waiting for some progress to be made, and my arm is now up to it, but we need the Ikea stuff first.

Spent most of the day tidying and filing paperwork.......it is a good while since last time!    All bank statements etc now dealt with, files gone through, and stuff more than 6 years old sent for shredding.   Shredder has had a nervous breakdown and now sulking!    There is a LOT still to shred.

Only one pile of mixed papers still to deal with, might be all done  by Tuesday, we are out tomorrow.

DD and the little ones may come for lunch tomorrow, or we may go to them, so we are making soup this evening......roasted butternut, sweet potato, carrots and parsnips, with fried onion and garlic.....mmmmmm.

    Smells delicious already!

DD has just said they will come to us for lunch, so better make sure we have plenty for them to eat.

Just catching up too. As it happens we went back to Downham this morning as it looked as if it would be a good day for a walk, after frost in the night. Started off on the Boundary Walk and got about half way round before it started to rain, but thankfully it was short lived, but we do cut the walk short by missing the turnoff!embarassed After lunch sitting in the churchyard we extended the walk with a stroll down one of the quiet lanes. Wind has now got up and with it showers of rain. Could well be an area we will come back to, so will try the chip butty thenwink,

The paper shredder I have has a thermal cut out which decides to action itself after about three bins of shredding!  I know when its ready again as it just suddenly finishes off the final bit that was in its jaws as it cut out!

Haven't had paper bank statements for years. All statements are now downloaded as PDF files but rarely looked at.

Mmm....ours is similar......sulks for a while then suddenly leaps into life.

We do have most stuff paperless, only our main  current account gets statements  on paper, at OH's request.......above my pay grade to ask why!

Then we have the account that gets my pension from  Norway, we like that on paper so OH can see what is what.

Otherwise we have credit  card statements that come in the post, just in case we cannot access them on line while we are away.  DD picks up our mail every 7-10 days and texts us amounts  and payment dates, in case we have no internet.  A hang over from when we were away abroad for 4 months at a time.

Unfortunately OH is a serial worrier, not for me to insist we go paperless on everything!

We have got a good size shredder but have taken to burning all old paperwork in a dustbin like incinerator as we are not allowed any bonfires here although a few locals do have them, we had a clear out whilst away over the festive period gave OH plenty of time to sort it out and then he burnt it all last week so up to date now.

Good to see your snowdrops brue the nearest place around here that we know has snowdrops is near the church at the hilltop village of St Cirq la Popie car parking is free in the winter although half terms starts this weekend so there will be a charge for vehicles I expect.

Rain first thing and now some sunny spells but only 8C but warmer than it has been for over a week, some painting done in the dining area  will do some more tomorrow.

We have paper statements for everything as OH doesn't 'do' the internet.  They are always checked. We have a clear out every so often and they are burnt in our garden incinerator.  OH burnt a load this morning. After very few birds in our garden over the weekend - Big Garden Bird Watch laughing  there are loads of them on our feeders today!! We had a fairly quiet weekend but we did have a nice meal at our local son's last evening and son rang from N. Ireland yesterday to say they are coming over for the February half term so that is something to look forward to.
