OH reckons she has spent most of her day getting shopping.  We started at Tesco  as DD  needed Royal Icing Sugar, we got the second last packet.  Then she remembered she had forgotten to buy roast potatoes and garden peas, so those were found in the freezers.

Then down to DD's to help her with the children, and while I did some packing of  Christmas hampers for the in-laws, OH took Nathan for a walk and some sleep.   Very cold out, we had to defrost her when she got back!

After lunch she headed to  M&S for the 2.30 pick up of our food order.  Huge queue outside, but those picking up orders were allowed straight in.  Shop  very busy, shelves well stocked, hardly anyone else picking up orders.  As Aldi is next door, she headed there with DD's list.  Aldi was really quiet by comparison.

After 3.30 before she was back, then off again for her 4pm collection at  Morrisons, which was also very quiet.  For some reason the pigs in blankets and the Panna  Cotta had disappeared from our order, which was disappointing.

OH also prefers to see before  buying.  The week before the very first lockdown, we stocked up with frozen veg, but otherwise bought salads etc in our local Lidl.  We were then offered priority slots at Waitrose, so had one delivery and 2 click and collects,   mainly meat to restock the freezer, plus other bits and pieces, but found Waitrose quite expensive, though they do often have good offers.

We are fortunate to have all the major supermarkets within 4 miles, plus we have quite a few small local shops, but we find them  very expensive, and their slow stock turnover  means the fruit and  veg often looks "tired", so we do  not use them.   No farm shops near here, unlike where we used to live, so we stick with the Supermarkets.

Got the shock of my life this week.  Being cheeky I asked who was going to be manning the newspaper stand in my local McColl's corner shop on Saturday.   Dash it they cheered and said that the management had sent down e - mails to say that following their exceedingly exceptional  performance thro' the pandemic they were being given the day OFF surprised.

Didn't have the nerve to ask if it was to be deducted from the Years Statutory Annual Leave Allowance. Well, I might, just might, have been given the Telegraph  newspaper complete with all sections AND the  Magazine  all placed where the Sun don't shine  embarassedsurprised

cracking day yesterday, actually saw the sun for most of the day, charged up my outside Xmas decorations.

Walked the dogs along the beach to Warsash, beautiful walk on the beach when the tide is out, and the dogs dont get muddy. Pup has learnt that it is wasting energy chasing the Oyster catchers, a couple of Egret paddling around also yesterday. Today back to dull but temperature is up by 10 degs.

Spanish daughter arrives today, and that will be us all complete for Christmas & New Year, glad Boris did not go overboard with restrictions, and the news today says Omicron 50% less severe than the Delta variant so all good on that front although the number of infections is worrying. Had planned Indian meal for tonight but have put that on hold and we will have Fish & Chip supper indoors just to be on the safe side, support your local chippy, 12 fish suppers

All shopping done now, we have really good greengrocer/butcher/baker in the village, Coop a small iceland and farm shop close by, so never need to travel far for food, although the big chains are only 4 miles away.

Could be BBQ at the beach house Christmas eve brunch if the weather stays mild, must dust off the French cricket and rounders gear laughing

Hope everybody has a great Christmas and New Year, stay safe cool

Re last paragraph Tammy, your first set up needs a bit of concentration, however, the Tesco website is marvellous. It remembers everything you have purchased in last few months, and there is a Favourites page, so you simply add or subtract from that. It will show you offers, prompt you for anything you normally get but have forgot, and lastly tempt you with anything seasonal. I can do an online shop, a big one in under three minutes now. I have found Tesco by a long way the easiest and most intuitive shopping website to use. It’s set up very well. Automatically adds on all the Tesco points as well. Others are quite different, clunky I find. I don’t use Asda, Sainsbury’s or Morrisons as much. Waitrose is ok but again I find I have to do a lot of searching as it’s set up into sections (Duchy, Organic etc…)

A few egrets and a heron plus the usual crop of Brent geese the other day when we had a walk round the shore. Could hear a Curlew but didn't spot it. Very murky down the harbour today.

Thanks TDA, I might have a look at the Tesco site sometime, it's the one big supermarket I use now as Asda here has really gone down hill. Aldi is always good for most everyday stuff but I need Tesco for the other things.

Kj, the M&S food shop at the Inveralmond roundabout on the A9 was absolutely chocka, the queue outside was enough to put me off. So we popped in Aldi which is next door and got a few last minute fresh things. All the checkouts were working so very little in the way of queues, only 2 folk at each till.

Took a drive to the other side of Perth down by the harbour, we have had to replace the caravan battery as it was dead, couldn't be revived 😒 so this morning we took the old one to the scrappies, did well we got £20 for it 🙂.

Town and all the roads into it was very busy, good job we know all the back lanes and short cuts.

Weather is miserable once again still very cold but we know have rain as well.

Just walked past our church and services cancelled due to Covid. There was a walk around village Carol singing last night, I usually join in but seem a bit tied to the kitchen at the moment! wink

Moved over to our Christmas/New Year site today. It was a rather wet and foggy drive over, with the odd holdup due to weight of traffic, although we did managed to get packed up in the dry. We were first one to arrive today so had a full choice of pitches, so have taken the only one that we had not stopped on before. It was a little wet setting up but both our walks this afternoon were in the dry.

Hope one and all have a lovely time over Christmas. All our very best wishes.

Same to you as well Nellie, and best wishes to everyone else.

I braved a swim tonight, I was the only one in the pool😁 Quick in and out, got showered and hair dried at home. Might be too risky by next week, so made the most of it. All the eateries I passed last week that were very busy seemed very quiet tonight.

Arrived at Sandringham, yesterday afternoon, after a miserable 4 hour drive in fog, constant drizzle and heavy traffic.  Never seemed to get light all day and by 3pm - it was definitely dark!  Still - we got here safely but don't know why I bothered cleaning the van and the car before we set off - both look as if we have been off-roading!!

What surprised us was that, bearing in mind the site had been showing 'fully booked' until earlier in the week - how many empty pitches there were. Probably only about half-full at the moment, but that could change today, I suppose. Clearly a lot of people have cancelled but whether that's due to Covid or the Queen not coming - who knows? Wouldn't have thought the latter would have made that much difference.

Anyway, whilst I've still got a 4G signal - we wish everyone a very Happy and Safe Christmas from a sunny (not!) Sandringham and here's hoping that 2022 will bring us some better news.

Be interesting to know if more do arrive. The sites I used recently were nowhere near half capacity. (both Club and non Club) yet the weather was gorgeous Weekends and holidays might make a difference.

    Merry Christmas.

Hi R&R, As I often say to Jean, to annoy her, every day is a learning day, but have to say I was very surprised to learn that the Queen stays on the club site!

I think you can catch her on the telly if you are missing her.

Been a busy few days here. Yesterday I took one of our neighbours/friends to the cemetery so she could lay flowers at her relatives graves. Then SWMBO was out for lunch with her two sisters so I had to go and collect her late on in the afternoon it was dark most of the day and rained almost non stop. We are due to head off in the van for a few nights on Monday so will need to get that packed soon.

Merry Christmas to all on here from us. Hope everyone has a nice day tomorrow

Looks like Christmas day/dinner is postponed.

We are going to my nieces for the day or were. Her daughter has been in contact with someone who has tested positive at work.

So today she is doing a PCR test, all her LFTs have come back negative so far but she wants to be extra careful as her Grandad, my BIL, who will also be there has cancer.

Hopefully she will get results back in time to eat our Christmas Dinner on Boxing day, otherwise she will be staying on her own in her Edinburgh flat. She will have to if she's positive.

So I had better go and rummage in the freezer for something to eat tomorrow. Plenty in there so no problem.

A Happy Christmas to all on CT, I hope you all have a lovely day however you chose to spend it. 🎅

Good job you have time to defrost something TG.

A very pleasant morning weather wise so we had a lovely long stroll. Met a few new dogs/puppies that were very excited to be meeting people. Also had a chat with a 6 year old who is worried that Santa might get Covid as "he's visiting lots and lots of people, everywhere!" so won't be able to get to deliver any presents. I told her Santa was immune from Covid so not to worry, knowing full well that 'Dad" has already had it. She positively bounced up and down.

So after settling the excitement of dogs and ramping up the excitement of children I'm all set for a quiet afternoon before being Cinders tomorrow.

Talking of Cinders…….This Cinderella has a new dress (gasp from all those who know me as a jeans wearing mud lark🤣) Do I wear it tomorrow, or keep it for a far too distant on the horizon, special occasion🤔 I have had to send it back once as too big, (diet and exercise going ok at the moment) so another six months, and it might not fit. Decisions, decisions🤪
