Off to cut some holly, our pup is spaniel lab cross and you think you had problems, made himself at home on our bed now, and just looks down his nose at you when you tell him to get off, but really glad we took him on, has his plus points, fully house trained at 10 weeks, and thus far only destroyed a corner of a bed base, and I am doing twice as much walking, so keeping the pounds down
, was considering trying to train him to run along side my bike, but i think that could be a bit ambitious and dangerous.2 -
It’s simple AD. There will be a phone number to call, a location code to give and then you will be given the lock code if it’s a public located one. The shop will probably just hand it to you. Well worth knowing, and they are simple to use, real life savers. They won’t work if you do something wrong, but instructions are simple. I bet you had to have First Aid as part of your job though?
Having watched the person I love most in the world have a heart attack, totally out of the blue, it’s something I take notice of. I am fairly confident I could still do CPR as well if needed, but I’d rather not. I am still “nellie the elephant” rather than Bee Gees “Staying Alive” (I hope that makes sense to a good few👍)

He’s a lovely looking pup😁 Be careful with the bike thing. We tried it with our at the time very fit Lab. nearly killed him. Some breeds are just too heavy, wrong conformation to run constantly. Gun dogs tend to do short fast bursts rather than sustained Dalmatian trotting.
Airedale enjoying a four poster! We finally caught him out🤣

We have a defib next to a small library and opposite the local war memorial I think most villages have have them here, did say to OH wondered how many folk would know how to use them we have in the past both had training for them.
Had a sprinkle of snow am after a very sharp frost then clouded over hence the snow now nearly all gone and the sun has come out a very mixed day for weather.
Great photo Rufs and like TDA's on a four poster, we know that look Rufs when we had two Springers.
Catching up on a few chores inside as plans for outside cancelled due to weather.

Our defibrillator is on the wall at the Village Hall. A 2 minute run around the corner for me and probably 3 minutes back. Might need the thing as well after that.
A trip to the tip this morning to get rid of 10 bags worth of leaves. Would have had more except for the weather closing in. Something to be done in the next day or two.
Sorting out some photos that have been sent to me by my cousin of my mother and fathers wedding day. My nephew is getting married next year and the parents of the two betrothed are planning to embarrass the poor youngsters with photos and ancestral charts of their forebears. So I was commissioned to try and track down old photos if possible. Must admit to being surprised at how handsome a young man my Grandfather was as I only ever saw the same photos many years later when a hard working life had taken its toll. He died before I was born unfortunately. There's a striking resemblance to my younger brother in him The elderly female relatives all look like they are held together with that wonderful innovation, the Corset.

I have a very strong suspicion that you went on a St John Ambulance course, then! After retiring from the Police, I was regional CEO for SJA for 15 years and was very active together with the British Heart Foundation in getting defibs into the community and introducing free first aid training into schools. The biggest problem is time - you've effectively got 8 minutes to deliver the first shock after a heart attack for any hope of success since the likelihood of surviving diminishes by 10% for every minute that passes. Being realistic, there still aren't enough about to make this achievable in many cases. We need one on every street corner!
Another David - you should have no fears about not knowing how to use one. An automated defib, talks to you and tells you exactly what to do and there is absolutely No danger of delivering a shock to someone who doesn't need it (everyone's biggest fear), because it simply won't let you. Even if you press the shock button, it won't deliver a shock if it detects a normal heart rhythm.

It’s been a while since I did a first aid course R&R. Not St John’s, we had a very good working relationship with what used to be South Yorkshire Ambulance Service. They had a really good (and lucrative) training section who did courses regular for most of Council needs. Our Lifeguards and other staff had to have a valid FACertificate, so we got to know training staff very well. 😁 I can remember the words to Nellie, much better than Staying Alive! Thankfully, I have never had to do much First Aid for real, but many of our staff did.

I heard the original song chosen for its rhythm for CPR was a Queen track 'Another one bites the dust' but the lyrics were a bit off putting.

My grandparents etc seem to look younger than they used to when I first saw their photos!
Panic statios here. We realised the "street" Christmas lights turn on event was sooner than we thought, the Brues have had to get their act together, (it's usually me) but OH helped with the icicles along the guttering and we've had to put off replacing the gutterng till the New Year..not a problem as we've had the "new" guttering for two years already so it can lie around for a bit longer....

Gloria Gaynor is good......I Will Survive
Basically anything that goes de dum, de dum, de dum at around 120 beats per minute. What does surprise folks is how hard you have to push to be effective. And you have to keep going for a long time.
Let’s hope none of us ever get the chance to try it.

It was very slippery due to hard frost on the wet ground when I went out with Flyte last thing last night, and not that much better for out first walk before breakfast this morning. Thankfully it had warned up a bit for our mid-morning walk and by afternoon it had started to drizzle. We had a further shower this evening but the winds have missed us so I think we have been very fortunate overall.

I'm inclined to agree with your last comment JVB - about the same cost as a high-end laptop!

The snow from Sunday has all gone today at most levels and it's a warm 10C. The roads were all clear yesterday and some lovely scenery and I've never seen places so empty. Still having a great time though. Have to prepare for Mrs C bug birthday tomorrow

Nice Land Rover C👍 We are hoping Northumberland is the same. Empty but open. We have a few things planned, but nowhere with lots of folks. Have a nice birthday time👍

Ambleside looks a bit chilly but nice to be around there Corners, hope your OH has a good birthday!
Just finished putting up the "illuminations" and OH is busy with a chainsaw, too many piles of wood waiting to be cut.
Hope you enjoy Northumberland TDA. I've just tried to book a site on the Tweed next year and all the dates seem to be booked....having a re-think now.

Had a busy day yesterday up and away early to Glasgow to on the train to collect the Volvo from the garage that’s another £500 spend but hopefully that’s the issue fixed now and it doesn’t give us any more trouble for a while it’s a car we really like so have decided to keep it a bit longer hopefully we get next season out of it and maybe a bit more fingers crossed. Despite being on the west coast we seem to have escaped the worst of the storms it was just a bit breezy over the weekend but not too bad and no snow thankfully although being right on the coast we tend not to get much snow. Planning to go away in the van at the weekend just somewhere local but will wait and see the forecast first before deciding.

We were not planning to put many up Decorations indoors as we planned to have Christmas day and boxing day at our 2 daughters houses, just a tree and the usual Welcome lights which are now burning brightly, however, Spanish daughter does not finish school until the 22nd Dec so will not arrive at Gatwick until the 23rd Dec, and will then have to self isolate until the results of the now mandatory PCR tests are returned, and who knows when that will be, guess most of the Labs will only be working with reduced staff, if at all xmas/boxing day, so it will be everybody round our place, well the rules say you only need to self isolate for 10 days if you have been in contact with somebody proving positive for Omicron, for anything else only if you have symptoms, and more than likely we will not have any result until after boxing day
. I know the govenment has to make a stand somewhere, but there do seem to be lots of holes in these testing regimes, last trip daughter paid for 5 day quick release tests but had to go into the nearest Boots store to take the test and her 2nd day PCR test results had not been received so she could have been walking around positive, she wasnt, but we did not know that.

Was that a freudian slip Corners? If not then Happy BUG day to Mrs C. Get the Lemsip in. Don't forget to gift wrap it. Got anything fancy arranged?
Went to pick up our new e-bikes today. As we were in the car Mrs WN decided we needed to make a detour via M&S outlet village store for essential underwear. Significant to notice almost everyone wearing a mask today whereas 2 weeks ago almost nobody was.
Then onto the bike shop where 2 new bikes awaited us, all ship shape. Except one of them wasn't the correct model! They hadn't noticed that the wrong model had been packed incorrectly at source. So we came home with 1 bike (Mrs.WN) and the other is being fetched from one of their other stores this week hopefully. However, good news though that this one will be the colour I originally wanted plus they are throwing in a consul that only comes with the higher spec models free of charge for both bikes. We'll try to get away in the caravan for a few days in the next week or so to try them out.

Hope your new bike arrives next week to allow to get away for a few days, WN. Good of the suppliers to up the extras headshot the inconvenience to you.
Birthday greetings to Mrs CS for tomorrow, hope the rain has passed though and you can have a lovely day out.lo
Took Flyte to the vets this morning for a further check on his eye. She was happy with the improvement but he has to continue with his drops for a few weeks before she'll be able to fully assess the extent of any potential damage to his eye. Then, after a walk, it was time for my visit to the Dental Hygienist, and that went ok too. It has stayed reasonably dry for most of the day but it is pouring down now, so it looks like a wet final walk out soon.😞

WELL, !!! after a most annoying double booking 'cock-up' on my usual escape at Xmas to the I.o.W ,and a disagreeable discussion regarding alternative location on site ,
,i have booked " Blackhorse Farm" instead !! SO,,,so less travel,,less diesel,,four days instead of ten. Local eateries instead ,like " The Jackdaw" and the B/H pub.etc .Only goes to prove you must be versatile ??
.I'm surviving !!
