Peedee thanks for the link. I knew about the vicar and identify fraud, only found out when neighbours alerted him. Last I read/heard now it seems that its a civil not police matter 😤. I heard nothing of this alert facility. Since we should be moving early in the new year I'll hang on and register at new address 🤞.

Our deeds, I have a copy, were with the solicitor that did our wills. We reviewed our wills and made POA 's in 2019 after another of OH nasty health scares! You can offer deeds to your local Record Office, they were always sort after for all sorts of research 😉. It seems so dreadful that it's all lost as Land Registry destroy them. We always loved being offered the contents of solicitors cellars 🤣

The solicitors we were passed to, our old family firm had closed years before and passed our documents to a bigger company which we had known about from the beginning. However we  weren't keen when we met them, it was actually the day of the evening the event happened, and I didn't like their attitude when I phoned next day to say he was in hospital following heart attack. There was nothing wrong with our wills, just a slight change in the 20 plus years about trusts, we hold the property as tenants in common and not jointly., We had a change when house prices got silly and clashed with IHT 😱. She, the solicitor, wanted to come to the hospital.and expedite immediately!!! Again it's changed so no issue. I digress!

We were recommended a great solicitor at a large company, sadly she's moved on 😪, who did all the work brilliantly BUT importantly put on wills one the NATIONAL WILL REGISTER. I don't have details to hand but our friend Google may help. I understand this was brought in to cover just these senerios where small solicitors either close or get taken over. I think it's as well to chat about your will and wishes with a knowledgable professional every few years as things change. I'm certainly very glad my parents did and that we did.

It's another thing to get sorted, sometimes being lucky enough to have a own your own house and have  funds to pass on brings so many additional complications and I see no reason to give the tax man, HMG 😉, any more than is necessary at any stage. Pay your dues yes, but after that its been earned and taxed so they've had their bite(s) thank you very much.

If I can find the details of the national will register I'll post but please forgive me as sorting stuff, reading surveys and Christmas as a bit more pressing at present.

If any of you night owls watched News at Ten (or five past ten) last night, and stayed with it through the doom and gloom, you would have seen at the end, our farm, and son James talking about the government's new farming/environment polices, following on from George Eustice's speech yesterday. Link to speech below.

I'm sorry there's no link to the film on the News. We stayed up late to watch it (but recorded it in case we fell asleep.)

Don't feel obliged to read all this. We get a name check.

    Peedee

They originally wrote to us in September. We had to gather together various documents. I think it was less than a month ago that we eventually sent all the documentation off to them so I was a bit surprised at the relatively quick turn round.

Actually Goldie, it's a good read and I'm pleased some of you got a mention!

On a different tack.......Yesterday OH spotted a notice at our local Butcher, something about "last chance for a pheasant." He went in as we buy a brace for Christmas and the butcher was about to freeze the fresh stock. Apparently bird flu has reduced getting supplies. Anyway, just by luck or charm OH was handed a free partridge so he had that for tea last night.

I noticed a neighbour has takens her chickens inside.

We arrived on site here at half 4 pitched up in the dark and it’s very very cold outside but nice and warm in the van. Site is actually quite busy considering the time of year. Not much planned tonight just a night in the van with a few drinks and the telly. Plan tomorrow is to head over to Edinburgh and pay a visit to 2nd oldest son and grandsons who live there

Just been to Tesco to top up with petrol in anticipation of flying visit to son and grandson tomorrow, might catch a glimpse of DIL. Want to get away early, never was easy with OH and has got much worse 😤😡 as I don't want to do 'big' road driving in the dark if I can avoid.

Checked prices on board this morning, 144.? For petrol, got to pump set up for pay at pump, pick up the E5 pump and am shocked it shows 151.? On the display, glance at inside of petrol flap, E5 95 and E10 99. Cancel and start again using E10 pump, price shows as 144.? So the premium momentum fuel is now dispensed via E5 ..........

Been grey and overcast all day with occasional drizzle but not too cold. Slow start as I couldn't get moving 😱. Before leaving the drive for the dog walk I had a catch up with a neighbour.  When we got to the local estate I saw several dog walkers I'd not seen for ages more chat. Then as I got towards the house I could hear drumming and up the drive comes a wonderful sounding sports car, I know very little about cars but it purred deeply and I was smitten,  groom sitting on the rear of the car. An Indian wedding. So stood and watched the drumming, dancing and arrival of the groom. Boy were the outfits wonderful, everyone very posh and only just 10am. There are often weddings there especially Friday's it was exhilarating.  British weddings are beautifully sedate and lovely to see but the Indian ones are really uplifting, not to mention expensive! When we were in Bangkok there was one in our hotel, it lasted 5 days and the outfits spectacular- extremely glad I wasn't picking up the bill, a different restaurant privately hired within the hotel. They are always very well attended too!

Then back to take OH to opticians, slight tweak needed so new glasses as he doesn't have a spare pair, so that's his Christmas present sorted 🤣🤣. I also got our house survey printed, our printer won't talk to either of my devises 😡. 59 pages at 15p.... I cannot read things properly on a screen. Good report the only items marked with 3's, cause for concern, are horizontal bannisters and possibly internal glass doors, which we knew about and will sort when we decorate, but as they were acceptable when the house was built we don't have to. Another hurdle crossed, next week I need to sort insurance cover. I then finished writing all our Christmas cards, I had done a sitting earlier in the week. so feeling tired but pleased and satisfied with my day.

Good to read other's news. Enjoy your weekend whatever you do 😀. I hope those still without power are in good spirits! And thinking of all those trying to restore supplies in very difficult conditions. Doesn't get much coverage on the main news channels, its too far form London 🤬🤐

I was wondering what they were thinking and did have an idea but feeling generous I've decided to keep it to myself.😱😂 (Nice photos though)

Taxi service again so as MiL was in town we called into Tesco. Amazing really. Last week we saw a couple in their late 20s or thereabouts. No mask on despite being in Wales. This week there they were both masked up. Wonder if they are disciples of Pinnochio?

Had to do a bit more gutter clearing due to the leaf fall over the weekend as some gutters showed sign of blocking. Must put some chicken wire down. We used to have some over the holes but lost a big chunk of guttering in a big storm in Spring and I've forgotten to replace the wire.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, especially those away.

Thanks for the link, peedee. Have just registered, or at least I think I have, and it was very easy.

Completed the polishing of the inside of the van today, along with getting all the covers on the seats and the floor covering down, so at least we are prepared for when we can get away. Will hopefully have some idea when after tomorrow's visit to the opticians

WN,  I will try to enjoy the week-end but I'm already severely depressed now, having heard the court case about 6 year old Arthurs sad life --  I have a good big tree opposite my house and can soon provide a noose of razor wire if required cry.

I've taken all the bedding, towels and similar out of the van now that we've come to the conclusion that we are unlikely to get out in the van now until the new year.  As usual, November and December are turning out to be the usual chaotic round of rehearsals and performances - even with the Covid situation.

I do need to do a caravan table repair.  Our slide out table (ttached to the front chest of draws) seems to have lost its magnetic catch which holds the table in, in transit.  I've managed to get some really small/ thin magnetic catches which I need to install.  Perhaps a visit up to the storeage tomorrow.

Not sure, David, how much of a struggle it will be for you to fix the table.  I've spent a very uncomfortable few hours standing on my head, then getting up to answer blooming phone, followed by the same sequence a couple of times more !! Finished the job ( replacing one of those Slow Closing Toilet Seats In a very, very tight space yell). Then decided to go and visit the phone caller who has cards and presents for me ( surprised ) only to hear the gentle sound of a Fiat Sevel diesel engine make similar noises to yours truly  embarassed. Now I'm on here while the charger does me a favour  or so I m hoping sealed

I got rather wet this morning collecting the car after our visit to the opticians as it was blowing a hoolie and hammering down. Slight change to my prescription, and some evidence of cataracts forming, but just age related and nothing to be concerned about, just glasses needed but no requirement for a further visit for the next 2 yrs, although OH has been told that she needs to change to a yearly visit. So new glasses for both of us and all told a rather expensive morning out. We just now have to wait for the new glasses before we can head off again for our Xmas trip.

I did manage one dry walk with Flyte and a couple others where I needed the full wet weather gear, but it looks like the rain has stopped and the wind dropped a bit so might get away with with final walk in the dry.

Hello from snowy Hadrian’s Wall😁 We are cosy now in our little cottage after a less than perfect drive up. Only got 10 miles before we hit standing traffic on the A1😡 Took to the B roads, but the powers that B had very kindly closed off other routes for no reason whatsoever, and with no signage😡😡😡 Anyway, we eventually got round the hold up, and once past Wetherby made brilliant progress. Nice drive up after that. Howling Gale at the moment blowing down from Scotland (someone needs to put up a Wall🤣) but location and cottage are everything we hoped for. The snow was a bonus. Pooch loves it, he has a new chum called Branston. Hope everyone else ok and safe. 👍

Hope you're both pleased with the new specs Nellie. I'm pleased with my mine, they cost half the price I paid previously but this time round I chose a pair of cheap frames, £59. They looked just as good as some of the designer ones...they all seem to look similar this year!

So armed with my new glasses which have a bigger field of vision I enjoyed the street light turn on tonight. No one can beat this neighbour who creates a "winter wonder land" every year! A nice evening, having a chat, glass of mulled wine and a mince pie...(and Yeovil won! ⚽)

It does indeed help to cheer me up,  Nellie in this one case, BUT I have no doubt that unless the Attorney General sees fit to crank up the sentences dramatically, and with much publicity, there will be more such cases, like Victoria Klimbie age 8, Baby Peter of 17 months just two I can remember easily.

I really cannot remember so many of the mites from earlier years -- perhaps there was less publicity and a younger Brian was certainly less likely to read anything other than the sports pages, to my eternal shame. Could it be that another century passing me by will bring other memories to the fore, I certainly hope not ?

Brue great lights, I wouldn't try to compete, I go for the 'less is more look'. It was our part of our street light up today, we haven't joined in yet. From the WhatsApp messages it seems in was a nice gathering if very chilly! And apparently jubilee party plans commenced for June, 🤞 we won't be here but the new residents can join in.

Very swift trip to son and family and home before dark - just. Very dark wet walk for Dora and I first thing, but damp when we left and Huntingdonshire very dry and sunny. Our grandson is becoming really interesting, 8 months, and a real giggler. We even managed a swift visit to village Christmas fayre! I decided not to trust my master piece to the post, also indulged him in some useful, if large, advent bits 🤣.

Hence the reason we didn't join in house light up. It will be of the tasteful, less us more, sort once I get decs down from loft. Hence the reason we didn't join in house light up.

It will only be a flying trip from them the weekend before Christmas, afternoon and bed and breakfast stop, as grandson is to be baby Jesus in the church nativity 😂. I dont think he'll be a convincing new born and I hope Mary is strapping with decent upper body strength 😱. Hopefully some quality days together over Christmas.

Dora has been brilliant considering she usually is indulged in a good hour or two off lead run in the morning. It was a swift very wet road and lead one first thing, and her afternoon walk wasn't the park with friends but another lead road walk, she is dutifully crashed out as usual for the evening so I hope it lasts 🤞. Both she and the grandson are intrigued with each other, their dog isn't happy they invaded her space with this new being, she always has her back to him and when he squeals she makes a fast exit!

Takethedogalong sounds lovely. Pooch has a new playmate, Branston???

Hope you get a dry walk nelliethehooker.

Brue, OH does like to change her glasses on a fairly regular basis, so these new ones are different in colour and style from previous models. I'm not that fussed, I didn't even get a full look at one of the pair's that were chosen for me , and I'm just having new lenses put in my favourite current pair..

Fingers crossed for a dry walk, B2. Sounds like you had a lovely visit to your son and family.

Gosh so many Dec's up already. Traditionally ours go up the weekend before Christmas, be that a week as this year or a day or 2. They do not come down until Ephiphany. We have felt obliged to put window lights up earlier so as not to look like miserable folks but some neighbours have had their trees up for a week or more already!

I make a point of not cleaning other than real basics whilst tge5 Dec's are up so maybe I'm the silly one?If I started celebrating my birthday weeks before the date folk would call me silly. Don't say a word 🤐😂

I make a point of not cleaning other than real basics whilsDentist for us both next week, and I want 3 teeth sorted by our dentist before we leave, I've been nursing them along since the first lockdown, neither tge dentist or I are certain which ones niggle!. I was a victim of the drill and fill payment by the amount of work done by NHS dentist as a child. I'm aiming to have his jn- house 3D printed ones, very pleased with my last one and all sorted in tge one visit as opposed to 2 or 3 fir crowns....t the Dec's are up so maybe I'm the silly one?

OH had to the  optician yesterday, slight tweak to prescription so WE 😉 chose new frames - mainly so he'll have a spare pair. Last years ones replaced some that were 10 years old 😱. Slight changes every year not acted on, hence its a joint thing now, I do agree they are costly although this years a bit less than last years. However worked on a daily basis, cheaper than a coffee out per day and much more use! The opticians must be doing a sterling trade......

Just found out we now have to do a LFT before leaving the island to 🛫 home as well as a day 2 PCR once home.

Crazy really given the island has just dropped down to level, so the best place to be. No cases of the new varient here but 2 cases in Spain.

Weather pretty good today no clouds and less wind. Resort pretty busy but not yet full. Christmas was to be full but that will change now due to the testing coming in again, the cost for families is just to much for some of them.

We've noticed this visit we have heard a lot of Dutch voices, not something we've heard before. Not sure if it's because we normally come in March or if it's due to Covid, not as many places safe for them to visit.

Good to catch up with everyone's news.

Er, er, B2  am I allowed to quote that as wise advice please, because my niece, who was interrupting  my seat swapping earlier intends visiting me tomorrow innocent  while I was hoping to get my paper early, and dash round to her house to avoid any wiping and inspecting of finger-tips for dust etc ( if not actually growing moss embarassed)

Regretfully Brian I am not convinced any length of prison sentence will prevent people of a certain mind set  from doing what they do. It's the same with adult murder and these youngsters that stab fellow young people. They clearly have no moral compass that makes them stop and think. By all means add another ten years to both sentences but would it have prevented the terrible way they treated that young lad, I suspect not.
