Here is the goodish news
Son has had his op at the weekend still very painful, only to be expected.
He has had some of the tubes removed and today he was sitting up so small steps.
Fortunately as he has learning difficulties we are allowed in to visit relatively freely.
Debsc hang in there and hope you're feeling better soon.

Had a lovely meet up for lunch with my cousin and her husband at lunchtime today. Good to catch up with the news of the extended families.
Miserable afternoon but the hedges have had their final trim for the year, well most of them have, and we have 2 full brown bins which won't be emptied until a week on Friday. Looks like I might be going to the tip with anything else as the next collection will be the last for some time.

Good news to hear that your son is on the mend robsail, wishing him a speedy recovery.
Thank you all for your good wishes, very kind. To be honest at the first mention of hospital I thought - if I catch Covid in there on top of this I’m in trouble. Then very weirdly - I feel too ill to go to hospital. Strange how your own comfortable bed becomes very appealing, and I’m feeling very lucky to be in it.

So sorry to hear about your son's setback robsail. Good luck from me as well
WN Thanks for the update on Bakers.

Not done a lot today, just made sure the house was tidy, all the plugs that didn't need to be in unplugged. Everything done we set off for Glasgow.
Now sat in the hotel room having been to dinner downstairs.
Early night tonight as we have to be up by 06.30. Drive to car parking then onto airport for our flight to Lanzarote.
Not looking forward to the airport or plane as we've avoided crowds since March last year. Not sure how full the plane will be, are they back at 100% occupancy or still reduced.
Looking forward to the warmer weather, though its not going to sunny for a few days according to the forecast. Still it will be warmer than here that's for sure.
Good to hear your son has had his op Robsail, hope he's back home with you soon.
Debsc, good to hear you are on the mend must have been worrying for you.

Sorry to hear of your son's relapse after the successful op, Robsail. Hope that he is soon on the mend.
Glad to read that you are on the road to recovery, Devs
Enjoy your trip to the sun, TG. By the look of the forecast for the weekend you have just got away in time.

Oi cheeky........ the menace from Essex is reading but has little to post that won't bore folks rigid, so I spared you all.
Thank you Milliehull for wondering.
That said you can now share my sincillating life for your cheek, the rest of you can blame Wherenext!
House moving has dominated our lives for sooooo long I can't imagine another time. Can't remember how far I've updated you folk so quick run through my stress, OH never did it, and if he says any more 'I don't know why you worry' all the hard work and expense the NHS did for him will be wasted 😤😤 - he reached 3 score and 10 earlier this month too.......
We changed houses in October, same village, the one we had our offer accepted on in early June was still awaiting its owner finding another....... Our offer on this one, 🤞its really nice, accepted 9 October - ours sold in September which obviously meant we didn't want to continue 'waiting on the 1st one'. Very short chain, 4 folk and 2 house sales. I've been gently sorting, drawers and cupboards for months but had to speed up and include the shed 😱🤐. OH impressed with my sorting, not with my culling - not much of that I'm afraid where his shed is concerned....... All hammers, how many does one need? likewise saws, screwdrivers, chisels and more - his, his dad's and a late uncle's.... now neatly in lidded boxes and stacked, cull the other end? I had MenCap lined up here to have surplus last year, but vetoed 😉 we are fit for the removal company to come in and pack when the time comes. I've even potted some 'must come with us' garden plants.Plenty of paperwork, I'm awaiting the questions about my moles and won't be surprised if they are included! Buyers solicitors sent form back for 'trivial' amendments, such as I hadn't ticked included for the fitted kitchen appliances and not answered a follow on question after asking if we'd had a Raydon check 🤔. As well as the 24 pages, 8 pages and 2 on the conservatory another arrived with more points raised. Our solicitor, she's great, said write what you like as answers and if it needs prettying up when I type reply I'll sort 😉 🤣
Now to sort Christmas and finish grandson's advent calendar.
Hoping those in poor health recovery soon. Robsail sorry to read of your sons relapse. Thinking of you.
Oh yes OH gave himself a chest infection for his birthday 2 lots of antibiotics not seen a doctor, but pharmacist was great, has almost cleared up.Thank goodness for Dora our morning walks of several miles amongst the wonderful colours of autumn have saved my sanity - I think. We've enjoyed a wonderfully dry and bright autumn until today, a more melancholy November day suitable for pulling the geraniums from my parents grave and planting up with cyclamen.
No need for sleeping pills tonight folks.......0 -
Just whizzed back to correct it's 3 house sales, not 2. I'm sooo confused 😕
Thanks Wherenext, I'm wishing for a Harry Potter magic type move and transplant. Off to bed one night, wake up and we're in, unpacked and sorted. I'm allowed to dream.......
Friend moved today, wasn't completely sure until very late last Thursday afternoon, it was almost completely off at 2pm that day, it was going ahead today, should have been a week between exchange and completion...... They had to pay a waiver to the removal company otherwise they couldn't guarantee being available - since they are off, hopefully have by now arrived, to Somerset, so 3 working days to sort! I have to say her stress was several levels higher than mine has been - so far. When I went past at 0930 their removal lorry - due before 8am wasn't there. I didn't knock and ask 😱
Now I know why we haven't moved for almost 37 years. I don't remember it being like this when we shifted every couple of years! Younger and more carefree or infinitely more complex? By the way are you leaving light switches and door furniture???
Edit booster's for us on Saturday 3rd time lucky? I hope I don't react like last time - AZ jabs, off for 3 weeks, can't afford that now!

Bakers2 how lovely to hear from you. So glad you are OK. Your life sounds much more exciting than mine! So glad that you have at last found a house in a village that you like. Best of luck. Please keep us posted how it is all going. Have you actually moved yet? Have you managed to see your lovely grandson recently? Do you think you will see them at Christmas? All the local family are going to our daughter's - fingers crossed. Sadly we wont see our NI family this year.

Edit: have just read your last post and realised that you havent moved yet. Do you think you will move before Christmas? I hope it all goes well. Your boosters will probably be Pfizer which should be better than the AZ jab. Fingers crossed for you.

Milliehull I could do without the excitement, what's wrong with boring??
Not seen son and family since the baptism on 10th October. He's back in the office, mad here, shorter days etc. They hope to be here weekend before Christmas, and we should be up there with them for Christmas 🤞. As usual with visits with them, feast or famine!
It's hard not seeing family at Christmas but thank goodness for video calls. Luckily yiu don't have a 13 hour time difference!
I'll let you know when we move, late January seems to be earliest possible, still delays on searches etc. I'm looking forward to a cathedral tour, if only as there won't be any boxes......

Acting as taxi this morning as MiL had an appointment at the local community hospital for bloods to be taken. We also had a prescription to put in at our own surgery which we normally do online but their webpages have been out for a week or so.
Got to the hospital, dropped MiL off and scooted around to our surgery. Whilst there I asked if I could have a Pneumonia vaccination appointment. Receptionist looked at my records to see if I qualified for this once in a lifetime jab. I did. But I had it in November 2005!

Oops. Well it was a long time ago.Back to hospital and MiL waiting. No Phlebotomist available. There used to be 3 of them now there is just the 1 and she was off ill, but we could drive to the next town and get one done there so off we went and fortunately it was done quickly. Just another example of poor admin, email to MiL arrived half an hour after her appointment, and the lack of staff cover. The local hospital apparently had to refuse taking any more patients last week as they didn't have enough staff to cope with existing ones.
Lovely day out there. The calm before the storm.

It is indeed a lovely day today WN so we made the best of it, put the dogs in the car and headed off to West Bay on the Dorset coast this morning. Lovely stroll around, had a coffee and bought some fresh fish in Samways who are Lyme Bay fish merchants. OH bought some Hake landed from one of the Cornish boats and I treated myself to some crayfish tails plus some local sapphire. There were fishing boats and crabbers unloading in the harbour from Exeter, Padstow, Shoreham and Penzance.
You might be able to spot the cliff rock falls with people still walking too close, not to mention a few swimmers braving the water. It must be extremely cold just now. Which makes the thought of those poor people on the migrant crossings even worse.
I have had a catch up on here too. Pleased to hear the B2s are making progress with the house move. Hope the TGs enjoy sunnier climes. And I do hope Robsail's son starts to improve.
Frustrating at the hospital WN. Our daughter and partner, due for covid boosters have been offered them miles away, due to work they can only go at weekends which limits them further.

Went to the dentist today, first time for nearly two years! Fortunately in that time we had not been forced to go. We were a bit nervous because we were aware on many changes at our dental practise. The dentist we had for years decided to leave during the pandemic, as had some of the other long standing members of the team. We have been going here for over 40 years so change, whilst inevitable is unsettling? It had been taken over by new owners. Luckily everything went well and we seem to have been allocated a very nice young dentist so that calmed the nerves a bit and would be happy to go back to see her again although I suppose the proof of the pudding will be when work needs doing. Everything still very COVID secure, we had to phone from the car park to let them know we had arrived. Our son Simon had recently had some work done which seemed very expensive so we were also concerned about the possible costs but thought we did rather well as it cost £67 each which included a couple of x-rays for me.

We have been to a Son et Lumiere show at the Cathedral this evening called The Angels are Coming. It was absolutely brilliant! It made me feel quite emotional.

Lovely sunny but chilly day here too. Drove over to the local canal head and had a walk before lunch in the car overlooking the estuary. Called in at local caravan dealer's just for a nosey really, but was fortunate to find a new, but unboxed, Heki roof blind to replace the one in our van which was damaged. I was not sure of the size but was able to buy it on sale or return it if didn't fit. Fortunately it did so got a bargain at just £20.
We stopped off for another walk along by the coast on the way to town and then called in at Asda to stock up on my Christmas wine, as they have an offer on of 25% discount on 6 or more bottles.0 -
Sounds like you had a lucky purchase for the van Nellie.

Lovely photos Millie. I've noticed all the big gardens in our area are doing "illuminations" this year. We've also had a request to light up our street so we'll join in with that idea. Everyone enjoyed it last year and we had an outside social gathering on "light up" night. 🎆
