How are things going for you B2, hope you are making progress with the house?

We are on a count down for our involvement with Somerset Arts so it's been all go Will have to wait till October before we have more time to ourselves.

Some help in the garden today, hedges cut tomorrow, new tyres for car etc etc. Hoping the rain forecast holds off a bit longer.

Hope all the holidays and events are going well. smile

A hot day again over in the Lakes. I'm currently in the Dog and Gun in Keswick. It had a sign outside that said it operates a Husband Creche for free so Mrs C is happy and safe in the knowledge that I are being cared for while she goes into all the shops that I usually have no desire to go into like fashion shops, jewellery  shops, craft shops... and shops like Boots which I am not sure she realises we have at home.

Alas I fear my time is now up and I'm due to be collected sooncry

🤣😂.  That gave us quite a giggle Cornersteady!  My OH would have enjoyed that crèche when I was brave enough to go to shops (I still haven’t plucked up courage to enter one😱).  We are in a gorgeous CL in Powburn (near Alnwick)  just now, weather is pretty warm here.  Had a short trip to the Farne Islands yesterday as it was such a calm sea, no bird life this time of year but plenty of grey seals in water and out.  Had plans for today but as it’s so warm we still haven’t got anywhere with them, maybe later?!!

a subject were not discussing 🤣🤣 thanks.

Hopefully the one we made an offer on is a possibility but she's not found anywhere, purchase not dependent on sale. As we only want 2 villages we are limited too. Not a sniff on ours, hoping its the mad quartering idea the council have proposed......  Comments usually love it and the garden is wonderful but can't afford to extend as we'd like, yes that'll be why those with, up and out extenstions are a good deal more expensive and you're not viewing those!

Trying very hard to just go with the flow. Lost interest in the garden and indoors, bare minimum necessary being done constantly on alert in case of viewing, makes it us frustrated, unsettled and restless. But hey ho obviously it's not meant to be at the moment...

    Sorry for the rant

You never know with these things B2, it may suddenly all fall into place. Ignore those comments, a real purchaser will come along in the end! Anyway, nice to hear an update from you and I won't ask again.....wink

No worries brue. I try not to let it dominate my thoughts and conversations, but it's not easy! At least we have no deadlines, that does panic me..

Yes one worry is it'll fall into place and action stations will be required just as we've learnt to stay stationary for long periods 🤣🤣. I'm feeling exhausted just contemplating it. All loft clearing, bookshelf thinning, drawer tidying etc done but still the next step is organising which I'm usually good at BUT my get and go got up and went ages ago. On the bright side at least it won't be too hot to work in the next few months should the call to arms arrive in the winter months, just short dark days...

Edit I do say to the agent, that not having an extension,  or 3, offers a blank canvas  they can choose to suit their taste and family. Or they could wait a few years.... 😉

I do feel for you Bakers2. Hopefully as brue says things will fall into place soon. Hopefully your 'get up and go' will 'get up and come back' once the move starts to progress laughing. Try not to take notice of the negative comments. It amazes me that people seem to think that they will find their perfect house at their perfect price. Do they not realise that it is usually a compromise? We will await to hear news when you have it.

Another lovely warm and sunny day here. Make the most if it folks as I think this will be our last day of 'summer' for this year. In normal circumstances we would have been away with the caravan this week frown

We were rudely awoken this morning by the thunder, lightning and torrential rain hitting the roof of the caravan. Couldn't hear ourselves talk to each other, and we still hadn't got out of the bed!

Had about 2 hours of it, then it eased a bit so we decided to do a bit of food shopping earlier than needed. After lunch we drove to Slapton Ley and had a good few hours of pleasant warm but cloudy weather whilst wandering and doing a bit of birdwatching. Nothing too exciting about but enjoyed the stroll. Started raining on the way home. Think we have some more rain in the morning then it quietens down for a while. Make the most of any sunshine folks as the Thunder and lightning heading north.

I think we've done quite well to miss out on some of the horrendous thunderstorms which have hit team SW today. Dry walk on the dunes this morning and down on the beach this afternoon, almost entirely dog walkers and a few hardy souls in the sea. Where did all those crowds go? wink

Just noticed a couple of photos that I uploaded from our walks over the last week or so but haven't sorted out for putting on here. oops.

A couple of examples of Tree Art. The first one was made about 10 years ago when a tree had to be cut down but the owner left part of it and had it turned into a piece of art. The second was found at Shapwick Heath Nature Reserve.

Yes you were rather fortunate M. It appears that the road outside the CL was flooded for a time this morning. It was fine when we went out at 11am. Similarly the flooded road in Kingsbridge seemed to have partially abated by the afternoon. Looks like the storm passed right over us. Had to turn the lightning warning signal on the mobile off as it was driving us mad.laughing

Amazing really as the CL is grass and it is fine. No problems getting away in the car this morning.

What a difference it makes being on the opposite coast! We had a very brief thunderstorm this morning and a heavy downpour while the skies have been dark most of the day.

Crowds? They took to the roads over here😄

Team SW reporting in from the Far South Coast. Apparently Micks Mount is out there somewhere, but has remained unseen all day. What a contrast from yesterday! Thick mist in places.

    Slinging it down outside now.

DARK skies here in Cheshire, cloudy with no stars visible, but sticky, muggy n 'orrible ~~ unlikely to be a pleasant night's kip. So far not even the faintest rumble of thunder for which i am pleased ##  do so hope it stays as good in Zurich tomorrow for the "Diamond  League Athletics Finals" through the 6 --> 9 pm slot ~~  most unusual 'arena' in Zurich city centre, but at least it allows the spectators to get close at last to the athletes

Arrived in Dingwall at 13.30, quite heavy traffic all the way.  Very warm and sunny, but rather too humid.  The CCC site here is very busy.

Good job you were not at Salcombe this morning, WN, as they had flash flooding there, affecting dozens of businesses. Glad you were able to get out for another walk.

Lovely hot sunny day here, although it has clouded up a bit now. We walked from the site along to Arley Hall where we wandered round the lovely gardens in the morning and through the Glade and Woodland Walk after our picnic lunch. The Herbaceous borders were magnificent, well worth the visit alone. There were quite a few people visiting but lots of room so we didn't feel threatened in any way, although there were few masks being worn.

The site seems to have had a wifi upgrade since we were last here, some 2 1/2 years back, now extremely fast, and of course included in the site fee.  We are paying £17.02 per night.

Looked at staying at CAMC Culloden Moor, but it was 26.70 less the VAT reduction, and no guarantee of a hard standing!

We liked the Dingwall site KJ, but our favourite in the area is Rosemarkie, as long as the grass stays dry! Culloden has never appealed, I find the area a bit sombre. Hope you are enjoying your stay. Pouring with rain here. ☔

A nice sunny morning here after a awful storm last night from about 10pm  and more forecast for today and tomorrow, at least the shrubs are looking better after the rain and it feels more pleasant outside, just topped up the small bird feeder usually twice a day and now we have the Sparrowhawk back.

Saw a lot of motorhomes yesterday when going and coming back from Villefranche some in pairs and only 1 eriba caravan and all french number plates so think the dutch and germans are elsewhere although did see some dutch cars and even a UK reg small white van who looks like they are motorhome service engineers in the UK so on holiday here perhaps have a second home in the area as seen in Bricorama and then Le Clerc.

Had a bit of rain this morning but the ground holding up well here in Devon. Do you need rescuing Ttda?

Started off late morning to drive to Dartmouth Castle. haven't been for ages so had a quick look around it, lunched there and then walked into Dartmouth itself. It was dry and warm but not a lot of sun. Plenty of grey hair on view.laughing

Walked back with some food from M&S and drove back to the caravan through a heavy mist. Have to hunt down a calor gas supplier tomorrow as our little Butane one finally expired today. Really can't remember when I changed it last.

Quick update on my friend who had a bad fall at the weekend. She is home - nothing broken but very badly bruised. She can walk (very slowly) with a walking frame. Her daughter is staying with her for a week and they will then reassess.

We have had a lovely afternoon. Our first outing with our U3A churches group since February 2020. After overnight rain the weather was very pleasant. We went to a lovely local village. We had a wonderful video talk about the history of the church and village and then a walk round the village with a chap who used to be the local vicar and resident. He also used to give history courses at our local Adult Education College which I went to for many years. It was so lovely to see him again.

TDA are you able to get out yet? I hope you haven't had any more rain. I hope everyone who is away keeps dry.

Glad to hear of your day and your friend Millie.

We heard news from home that an elderly neighbour had fallen in her back garden, all paving nowadays to cut down on maintenance. She was found by another neighbour and fortunately there were a few men around to help her into the house. The Paramedics were called but she cancelled them. Silly woman. Refused to go to hospital. She's in her eighties. Spent 4 days in bed with regular visits from her DiL. No reason for her to dislike hospitals as she was a nurse but I assume she was worried about covid. It's now her 2nd. or 3rd.fall and she refuses to wear one of those safety buttons for emergencies. Some people do not get any wiser as they get older.

Moved sites today, had a drive into Germany for some shoppingsmile then drove out again at Mulhouse.

Now on a site just north of Besancon, 14€ a night. Nice and quiet on a river, strange that the river and the 'beach' has loads of sea shells, where have they come from I wonder. Only stopping the one night the heading south a bit more.

Weather here is still warm but more clouds. Might get some rain tomorrow.

Redkite, hope the storms aren't causing flooding in your area. I read that Agen was flooded for a time. I think the Dutch are all in the Alsacelaughing

TDA, hope you are not still an island laughing

Hope everyone out and about are safe.

At least the vultures wait until you die before taking food from you. The Herring Gulls in Dartmouth today tore the bag out of a woman's hand as she was eating a piece of fudge on a river front bench. Big squabble then between 4 of the rascals to see who ended up with it.

It's mainly the fault of human beings, some of whom think it's fun to throw them some chips or whatever. They now see humans as a food source. I had a sandwich pinched in the same manner a few years ago on Llandudno front. The blighter drew blood from my finger.😡
