There's me thinking I'm being opulent splashing out on new ebikes and you go and trump me good and proper Francis!

Makes me feel a bit better though.

Have you got much work to do on it?

Yesterday we moved on to a CL at Kendal, one that we've not used for many a year. Although it is just off the main road from the motorway to Kendal and Windermere it was surprisingly quiet last night. We did get a slight hold up at the M6 junction but it was only due to the amount of traffic.

Thankfully we were not heading home today as there was a major accident on the A590 at Gilpin Bridge around 8:45 this morning which resulted in both carriageways being blocked for hours. They eventually opened the west bound A590 but the eastern one was still closed at 3:30, which had resulted in a tailback to Greenodd, about 15 mls, and blocked roads into the Lakes from Newby Bridge. The 4 injured in a car were taken to hospitals in "serious" conditions, while the driver of the HGV involved was uninjured but has been arrested by the police. Feel sorry for those that have missed important appointments. At least those with caravans and motorhomes in the tailback would have had a loo handy, others could well have been in dire straits.

So sorry to read of the accident to your son's Springer. Hope that she make a full recovery, they are very resilient dogs. After the operation to our Springer it was nearly two weeks of very short and infrequent walks with Flyte until the stitches came out and even then we had restrict the amount we did, with no running free for another week....it was quite hard work, but worth it in the long run, as he's back to his lively, normal self.

Goodness me Nellie. Good job you weren't heading home.

I wonder how much of the hold ups on the western bound was for rubber necking? There was a crash on the M6 southbound just past Lymm the other day and reports from the Police say that they've sent out over 76 provisory warnings of prosecutions to drivers heading northbound who had slowed down to take videos on their mobile phones of the scene, so they were caught using their mobiles whilst driving. What are people coming to?undecided

Sorry WN didn’t mean to steal your thunder lol glad I made you feel better though. Car doesn’t need much work just an issue with the sunroof but I know a guy who can fix that  also the aerial needs fixed but not much mostly it will just be a clean and polish but all else appears to be fine and it drives beautifully so hopefully it’s a good one

It was stated on Radio Cumbria that both lanes were blocked, hence the hold ups in both directions. It is a bad junction there with vehicles trying to cross the carriageway, and at that time in the morning it was sure to be busy. I wonder, as they have arrested the HGV driver, if it was that he turned across the stream of eastward bound traffic trying to head up the Lythe Valley road towards Windermere.

I wonder how many of those leaving Meathop Fell site were caught up in it, as there's no real alternative route with a caravan on the back for them to detour round to get to the motorway. Had the Morecambe Bay barrage been built when it was first proposed it would have alleviated midnight traffic along that stretch of the A590.

Glad you enjoyed your belated xmas present SteveL, OH had the same one for his 50th at Exeter Airport he did wonder what was going on as I did not tell him until we got to the helicopter building and he was in the smaller Robinson only a two seats only and he managed to fly along the river Exe, pilot was very impressed and asked had he flown one before no was the answer just have a engineering background, but his face said it all when he landed a grin from ear to ear.

Well very dull here again after the fierce heat of the weekend but at least we can get a few chores done outside with the caravan trying an air awning that came with it as we want to sell it so that will be interesting and it is very heavy so might need the wheelbarrow to move across the grass and in the instructions it say make sure there are no stones on the ground well we are on the rocks so plenty of stones so will put something down on the ground first, it is a Dorema all weather one but instructions are not that helpful so an interesting morning coming up ha ha.

    Enjoy your day folks.

Greenhouse is all sorted now, clever OH sorted it out yesterday. Looks really good, and moving it has given us a lot more storage space, and I will be able to trim roses a lot easier. Going to do Mum’s greenhouse next, nothing like as awkward as ours thankfully. After a break though, had enough of glass cleaning etc.... for the moment. While OH was busy, we were out for an afternoon out in Derbyshire. Bit overcast at times, but we got sunshine as well, and the heather is out and looking very scenic up on Froggat and around Calver and Grindleford. Lots of folks out, walking, cycling.

We had some rain overnight, but dry now. There’s a wee hint of Autumn now, let’s hope is going to be a nice warm early change.🤞

Well awning saga over the air awning is very well made and for all seasons but getting it all one piece back in the awning bag was a bit of a struggle but at least it is all there and now a lot cleaner around the bottom flaps etc, then we tried our old Isabella Magnum not been up for a few years but so much easier once we remember which poles went where and looks a lot better and more room than the air awning, OH going to mark the poles ready for next time which maybe our break in September as we are away for a week to 10 days.

Well yet another grey cold damp day here. Struggling to reach 17c. Got rather wet, and my walking boots still drying out, on dog walk with a friend and her two. Dogs soaked, but clean as we stuck to field edges, ours has been sounds for ages. Now out with OH, dry at present! Our heating left on all the time thermostat down to 18c came on this afternoon. I fear a long winter ahead.......

It's had an autumnal feeling here even with the sun out for the last couple of weeks 😪. Mornings and evenings really pulling in. Today lots of mushrooms and blackberries.

Enjoyed my reflexology this afternoon 😃

Had a great day out with son and grandson, both arrived at the carpark together, an hour and 5 minutes for me 55 minutes for him - what are the chances? Did OH good, he was upright rather than prostrate for the day but still recovering...... Hopefully meeting up again Monday, DIL included as probably not combining.

KjNelln you really do make me feel tired with your work rate...

Home or away folks enjoy your day, timers just going off must finish cooking dinner.

Oh how gorgeous!  What a pretty kitten. I bet it’s teeth and claws are as sharp as our ‘house guest’ though.  We’ve decided puppies are quite hard work, especially in the evenings for some reason!?   He’s very cute but phew!!  I hope the kitten is a bit calmer for you.

I think you are having a "Cute Kitten" photo competition Millie.laughing

Another mizzle ridden day, punctuated by a lovely hour or two catching up with my cousin and her hubby over a light lunch at a pub mid way between ourselves. As usual it resulted in a laugh or two.

Called in on the way to a bike shop in Chester but nearly got caught out. There had been an accident about 400 yards further up towards the city centre and traffic had backed up. and it's a one way system. We had to park up and walk to the shop and by the time we had extracated ourselves we arrived for lunch with 1 minute to spare. The bikes were quite interesting and has given us a bit of a quandary. Have to have a good think and look at plenty of reviews. Mrs WN loves nothing better than making checklists so she's already on the job.

Got a call from our surgery. They want more blood tests but fortunately they want it in a months time to see if the irregularity is a one off or not. So we're free to disappear on holiday  (providing the scan people don't ring, please.)

Lovely puppy Heddlo and the kitten Millie.

Only over here could something like this happen on our local English/French newspaper 2 photos of a pickup with a temporary pool in the back of it and driving around with 5 folk in it to keep cool so the Gendarmes stop the driver and fined all folk in the pool as they were not wearing seat belts and the driver was charged for drunk in charge of a vehicle, it was in the south on Saturday when it was very hot, amazing what folk get up to here, but it did make me laugh to see the pool area what next.

    Westmorland Show

Goldie, the first day of the show is the day we (hopefully) set off on our Autumn trip, so apart from missing it we will have to divert through Milnthope to avoid the queues around the M6 junction.

Loved the pet photos, if it's any help Heddlo our young dog always has a mad evening session. She has a favourite squeaky toy and we have to throw it around for her, our evenings are rarely quiet!

We are on a nice Devon CL, pretty village, a good way off the tourist route, nice pub and hotel within walking distance but could only get one slot at the pub for a meal. So 5.30pm tonight we had our meal out and that's it. Might try to have a cream tea at the hotel...everything so busy and booked up. Too tired to wait for the Morris dancers in the village tonight...just having a relaxed time here.

Had a giggle about your news RedKite...the silly season is upon us.

He looks really cute, heddlo, as does you kitten, millie.

Pleased to read that your OH managed to sort out the glass for your greenhouse, tda, and that you had a good run out over the Edges. The heather was just beginning to show it's colour when we were there a short while ago , but will now be looking grand, as it was on the Forest of Bowland Fells last week.as

Hope that you don't get any calls following on from your scan, WN, and you can get away as planned.

We went to Levens Hall today, with a tour in the morning and a walk through the deer park in the afternoon, where we saw both their Black Fallow Deer and the family of Bagot Goats. The weather has been fine all day, and quite warm at times. This is our last night of this trip, with a short drive back home tomorrow.

These are what we saw, including the Heron.

WN as we no longer have any cats of our own the family are 'kindly' lending us theirs. 😁

Goldie, is your OH on Presidential duties for the Show? If so, I hope you all have a wonderful and memorable time👏👏👏

I think a Cavachon might be a getting together of a Bichon Frise, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Red Kite! Sounds posher than a Chug (Chihuahua x Pug) and a Jug (Jack Russell x Pug), our neighbour has both.  We get the occasional non doggy person ask what our Labrador is (hard not to recognise a Chocolate Lab I would have thought, but hey ho🤷‍♀️😂) My stock response is “oh he’s a Chien de Fromage”. 🤣🤣🤣

Beatiful puppy, and that kitten is just adorable Millie. Long time since we had a cat of our own.

Nellie, be prepared for roadworks between junctions 21a-26 on the M6 - yet another so-called "smart" motorway "improvement" frown Travelled along it today in both directions, but not during the morning.  Came back around 5.30pm, and it was VERY slow, which we knew it would be at that time.  I note you're travelling during the morning, shouldn't be too bad.  Speed limit 50mph, no lane closures, but narrow lanes.

Yes you are right Takethedogalong,  he’s a cross between the first 2, his Dad was the Cavalier and his Mum the Bichon.  I my younger days this would have called a mongrel, wouldn’t it?? 😂. We had a ‘normal’ dog years ago, a Golden Retriever, he was much more hairy (and shed all the time) though!  At least we can pick this one up to remove from danger!  Son and family collecting him back at the weekend, we will enjoy a lie-in on Sunday!
