Best wishes from us both, WN. Glad to hear Mrs WN is getting her jab this weekend. At least you will have some idea of when you can get away and when to be home, so better able to confirm your trips.

It doesn't bother either of us going to the dentist. I guess we've been fortunate in that both the previous one and his replacement have been friendly and very pleasant, as is the hygienist. It's the doctor's that OH has to psyche herself up to visit, but I see mine so seldom that it doesn't concern whatsoever.

It has been a poor day weather wise, starting off with drizzle, and then just grey clouds and quite cold. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse😫

You can come out now Brian.

Unfortunately the restrictions in place in Wales didn't allow us to take off for the day in the car but after this long ( both marriage wise and lockdown wise) it doesn't bother us.

We've already arranged trips Nellie. If precedent is anything to go by Mrs WNs second jab will be when we're on a CL about an hour away in Cheshire but it will be just after 9 a.m. so we'll probably come home for the night and return after the jab to continue our break as we go onto the Peak District afterwards. We're at home for my second in early May and have 2 trips away that month after that. Can't wait to get started.

Hoping for a few days after Easter before we take MiL to the cottage for a mini break. Waiting to see what the FM will allow us to do. I have a feeling we'll have some sort of Stay Local edict so that will cramp our style until it changes.

Shame about the wasted dental trip. Another one for us tomorrow. Check up time.

Hope you've got somewhere booked RK. Cornwall going to be busy all year methinks.

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs WN

Still no idea of when we will get our second jabs, last date should be 6th May that's the 12th week point, most seem to be getting them sooner than that, more around the 10th week. IF we are allowed out to play after the 26th of April (that's what she is threatening) then we will loose the first few days of that trip but should be able to pick up on the rest of it.

I was busy this morning sorting out a treat for OH for his birthday, not until July but its his 70th, we are not happy to go on a cruise yet so,  I've booked us on the 'Jacobite' train from Fort William to Mallaigsmile

A bit of a grey day today but no rain until very late on and then only drizzle.

Busy morning for us, OH went out to collect 40 fruit trees for the 'Men's Shed' fruit orchard. Its a sponsor a fruit tree scheme for the village. It's working really well, they have apple, pear, plum and cherry trees.

We are both going down to the orchard in the coming week to plant a load of daffodil bulbs and crocus bulbs that I planted in pots last autumn. They are all at the stage ready to plant out, all buds getting ready to open. We are going to plant them around the bee hives they have down in the orchard.

Had to call the boiler man out as we had a bit of a problem with it, all sorted now so house now nice and toasty warm again.

Food shopping tomorrow, hopefully before the rain that's forecast.

What a nice post Tammy. Great idea for the fruit trees. Sounds a good idea for OH as well. Are you going with him?laughing

Has NS given any further indication of the "roadmap"?

If we are given the jab at our doctors surgery then we are also given an appointment for 11 weeks time, same time. If it's at a large vaccination centre then they're phoned when vaccines in and their turn appears which seems to be between 6-8 weeks.

At least you know what's what. We're still waiting to find out when our see one will be.

After a bit of faffing about over the last couple of days, and a phone call to support this morning, we're up and running with our broadband. OH is making full use of it, watching the first 5 episodes of Terror, the tale of Sir John Franklin's attempt to find the North West Passage,

Yes both going, we've decided to do it before his birthday as mid July will be a lot busier and not comfortable with spending 4 hrs in close contact with folk we don't know. We've decided to do it while we are up there on our trip in May (if we get to go) as we will still be under some kind of restrictions the carriages will not be at 100% full, come July that may not be the case. The train runs two trips a day and a lot of them are fully booked up already, so was happy to get a table for 2 in the first class, cream teas also booked smile just got to find somewhere in Mallaig to book lunch, either that or book a boat trip not sure yet which.

The orchard is proving to be very popular with the village folk, we just need to get the young feral youths on side and stop them trashing things yell

No, nothing much from NS, very cautious approach, though today she has dangled the carrot a bit, we can now meet more people outdoors, I think its 2 from 2 households total of 4.

Similar system here re vaccines, GPs however in this village only doing the above 70s, everyone else has to go to the vaccination centre in Perth, so we get the Pfizer one.

The number jabbed over the last couple of weeks has really gone down here. We are only doing a third of what we had achieved on the best days. Not sure if its because they are now going round the care homes etc doing second jabs or they are still claiming they don't have enough vaccine.

We were given our second vaccine date when we had our first one, exactly 11 and a half weeks between the two. So we will be off to open up our static van for the season - take all the bedding and throws back, tidy the flower pots, stock up on the food store cupboard, hang one new set of curtains and make sure everything is running ok.Then dash back for our precious jabs, then back again to enjoy our second home for a few weeks. Well that's the plan but let's see how things go.

Debsc. I've read locally that it will probably be ten weeks between our jabs, it's probably different for every area, things here have stopped for a week due to the vaccine supply chain. Hope you enjoy your visit to the van.

Rufs, I hope your decorating work goes well. We have been told we can get our floor done and have had a visit today to get measured up etc. It was freezing standing in the kitchen discussing everything with all the windows open....so good luck with all that!

We had some help in the garden this morning, even though the weather is awful today our gardening pal wanted to crack on, so we're looking a bit tidier.

TG the tree planting idea sounds great. Hope people appreciate all the work done.

We have a little cherry tree in a pot, it's bonsai-ed a bit now but we bought it for our wedding anniversary many years ago and every year, late March, it flowers just at the right time. 🌸

Thanks TTDA. We love it, hesitated for too long, wish we had done it sooner. Just make sure it's a good park, owner and contract. We listened to the salesman and then went back and questioned some other owners,( who are now our very good friends and neighbours) they had nothing but praise for the site. So we went for it.

Back from Chester after latest Dental visit. Given the all clear so, hopefully, next trip not until October, when with a bit of luck they may well have finished with digging Chester up.

Horrible day weather wise, although a bit less rain down on the plains of Cheshire.

Had a reply to a CL enquiry this morning so we have a booking for mid July near Malvern, after we get back from taking MiL on holiday.

Not received our Census questionnaire yet. Is it the 21st. of this month? Do you need a reference number from the letter to access it online?

Horrible day weather-wise here as well, so indoor chores and exercise. I have just had 25 minutes up in attic torture chamber on one of OH’s bikes. New Fitbit enjoyed it though, even if I had to he extracted with help from the saddle🤣 Goodness knows how he spends hours up there. He cycled to a famous lighthouse on Mallorca last night! Keeps us happily amused in bad weather. Got some things to plant in greenhouse, so might brave a trip across garden. Tomorrow looks even worse to be honest.....

Fine and dry this morning to do the food shop. Very windy overnight and a bit if rain. More rain this afternoon but its not heavy.

Back at the sewing machine for me, OH has the lovely task of renewing our electric contract. Currently with EON we were Npower but EON bought them out. Looks like we are moving to Shell, they appear to have the best deal for us.

Next task for him is to sort the phone contract for the next 12 months. I like to give him all the best jobslaughing

Brue, jabs have slowed down by around 2 thirds here in the last week or so. They are still working through the 60 -64s and underlying health problems. FM announced they were moving on to other groups now, didn't go down well considering group 6 is nowhere near finished yet.

Cuppa over back to the sewing machine.

Belated happy anniversary mr and mrs WN. I hope you had a lovely day.

We had an email yesterday telling us that Aer Lingus had cancelled our flights to N. Ireland next month. It is very disappointing but not surprising as I dont think we would have been able to go anyway under the restrictions. After discussion with son over there we have re-booked for the first week in august. Fingers crossed. The good news is that my car passed it's MOT.

Regarding dentists I have an appt for a check up next month. Not keen as our lovely dentist retired a year ago and I am not sure about our new one. She was covered from head to toe with PPE and had a mask on like a gas mask when I saw her in the autumn and seemed very reluctant to do any treatment so it was difficult to make a judgement. I am wondering whether to change dentists. How easy is it to change your denplan and not lose money in the process? I seem unable to make decisions at the moment. Neither can I make my mind up whether to make the decision to go private for my cataract op. I am a real ditherer at the moment which is most unlike me.

Your phone call from your NZ grand-daughters sounds delightful bakers2. It must be so difficukt for you not being able to see them but thank goodness for modern technology. I can remember that the daughter and family of some friends of my parents emigrated to Australia in the 1960s and it was just letters and photos and just two 3 minute (very expensive) phone calls a year. I do feel for you though.

After a day of lovely sunshine yesterday it has teemed with rain all day here today with very high winds forecast for overnight and tomorrow.

Thank you Millie. We were undecided as to whether to go to Paris or Venice or Budapest but settled in the end on Tesco.smile

Pity about your trip to Northern Ireland but I suspect that it might not have come as a surprise to you. Fingers crossed for August and also your cottage in Staithes.

Louse day here too. Have had about 18 hrs of near continual rain from around 9 last night, and it's pouring down with rain again. Fortunately there was virtually no wind so were able to get round our walks with a brolly so didn't get too wet. Doubt it will be the same in an hour or tomorrow.

Really interesting interpretation of the Franklin voyage, well worth watching.

Thank you for remembering the cottage in Staithes WN. It will either be a feast or a famine with the NI  family in the summer. Hopefully the former.

Your anniversary sounds a bit like our 55th last month - cruise, Paris, sunshine holiday? In the end we decided on a walk round a nature reserve and a chinese takeaway 😊. My cousin and his wife who live in Dorset celebrated their 46th last week and decided on a walk round West Bay followed by a pasty and an ice cream. Small pleasures mean a lot, especially at the moment.

I woke up around 5am as the storm was roaring around so have been awake since then, I think we get another blast mid morning. Forgot to turn the heating off, we don't bother with a timer so it was boiling hot too!

Delivery order message came in early with a lot missing, including the papers which seems to happen quite often. The neighbours will miss their Danish pastries! I signed off some papers for their house move yesterday, identifying them for legal purposes etc. And they have at last seen a family member who also brought their Christmas presents...

Spoke to several neighbours on my dog walk yesterday. Mixed feelings about lockdown, opening up and holidays. Hope things work out for all concerned.

I have been awake since about 5 am as well listening to the wind. It was horrendous.  OH has had a walk round the garden and luckily there is no damage - so far. The wind is still very fierce with strong gusts. There has been lots of rain overnight as well.

Wild here as well overnight, and very wet. We have breaks in storm clouds overhead with brilliant sunshine, but it’s still roaring outside, and more to come. Might sort some paperwork out for Mum later, only insurance.....

In our confirmation email from Waitrose timed at around 6.30am our paper was also missing. It has happened a few times to us as well. I spoke to one of the drivers and he said the orders were loaded at around 6.30am so I suppose if the papers are late we don't get them. It's annoying as I enjoy my weekly read but I imagine they are too busy to go back to the orders if the papers arrive before the delivery van departs?

Hope they bring plenty of  good Doggy Treats TtDA, that's if they really really want to blend in swiftly  wink.

And with that, it's back to re-fettling the bed after stripping it and thinning out the duvet ( brrrrr surprised) - washing machine & tumble drier doing their stuff, so I'll have a load of ironing on my return from visiting Aby the Dracula Lady tomorrow lunch time.  About 6 fingers of Brian's best will be taken ~~ should make enough room for the second C19 vax.

OH --  just realised who I'm seeing and when -- Aby the D L at lunchtime embarassed must take a garlic butty or three and load the punt gun with silver plated shot too !!

Although we would have liked to have used Waitrose, with only one store in the whole of North Nottinghamshire, we have only managed a couple of deliveries since March 2019. Both had the paper missing.☹️ On a regular basis we use Tesco with a delivery pass. Booking is possible 4 weeks ahead, there is only rarely anything missing and the infrequent substitutions sensible. For some reasons they still use hard copy receipts. Although I can check how much they have charged to the credit card before they arrive. Usually it is the same as our order but this week was £6 less. When it arrived I found my bottle of Blood Orange Gin had been given a club card discount, which had started that day.😀

Not used the 'Delivery Services' from supermarkets, I much prefer to  wrap & mask up carefully and go out and prod the goods with my own delicate, well anointed fingers - even prod the papers, so if there is no mark left it's time to re-hand sanitize innocent. Now that must be a vacancy to be exploited by the scammers ~~>  Does one supermarkets sanitizer react with another's ?? { Think Big Big Shop requiring visits to ASDA, Lidl, Tesco, Sainsbury's  etc etc } I'll leave you lot to think about that till later on today  sealedsmile
