Did you catch a glimpse of the virtual catwalks this year? 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

I don't think socks and sandals are unreasonable compared to some offerings there. At least they are practical and don't cost a fortune in money or earth resources as the items modelled undoubtedly do.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Agreed. But what frightens me is that folk take it seriously!

Still even in these times it keeps folk employed. Was rather miffed to see the models could be made up and have their hair done whilst Joe public has their own version of the catwalk regarding hair styles 🤣

Folk do when they’re new & shiny, with age comes a sense of worth-the young will pay whatever price is asked being older not so much-even though we have more disposable income. Yup I call it sense👍🏻. I used to live in Levi 501’s. I saw some a few weeks ago for £85 & laughed as I walked away shaking my head, with age comes sense😊

I agree Rocky, but I also think it comes from our parents. Living through tough times, a war and rationing, my Mum was very frugal. Even when older and much better off she would spend money on the grandchildren but never treat herself. I never waste food, and although not tight, I always consider my spending. As for paying out for a designer handbag, never in a million years. We also struggled a bit when the kids were young but I truly believe the way we consider very carefully before we spend is from our upbringing and our parents tougher times.

I have looked at the VAT rates for camping sites and it is normally 20%? in the budget it was to continue at the reduced rate of 5% until end of Sep?

I note that Rowena has posted that from 1st October it will be 12.5% for site stays? i cannot find ,in the budget that that is the case does any one know differentundecided

Yes she is correct, VAT for hospitality is remaining at 5% until the end of September, increasing to 12.5% until April next year when it will then revert back to 20%.

One thing I have learnt about budgets over the years is that on Budget Day you only get the highlights, the details follow the next day often buried away in the detail!!!! There are usually more shocks on the day after the Budget!!!

Your right that not every detail can be announced in the budget speech (thankfully as it would last for hours), however the VAT rate of 12.5% for the hospitality and leisure industry between the end of September 2020 and April 2021 was announced during the chancellors speech.

Another cold day but at least we did get some sunshine.smile

Busy most of the day making the covers for the base cushions in the MH, they are now finished. Waiting for OH to get the right thickness of ply for the bases for the  back rests I'm going to make. They are for the rear barn doors of the MH, I have enogh material left to cover out of the same as the base cushions so should look good as they will all match.

This lockdown doesn't half have a lot to answer for, if we are not decorating or gardening, knitting or sewing I'm finding things to make for the caravan or MH. Will be glad when we can get away and stop doing all this work. laughing

Sorted the tunnel crossing now for the Autumn all re arranged for out September return home end of October. Heres hoping this time it will happen.

Managed a nice walk after lunch before it got cold again, then back home to finish the covers.

OH got a battery on order for the MH, had fun and games trying to remove it as the Thatcham alarm goes off the minute you disconnect it. Managed to find out how to do it, then the next problem is you can't lock the doors with the battery disconnected. The key only works on the cab doors not the habitation doors. Battery now connected again until the new one comes. Just enough charge in it to work the doors.

    Never a dull moment laughing

    Very quiet on here today.

It just so happens that somewhere in the back of a wardrobe there is a deerstalker, but although I don't confess to dress to the height of fashion I think that wearing it these days, especially accompanied with shorts, would be infradig!!😁

Sorry TammyG,  I have been very everso busy dodging from Channel to Channel on telebox 'cos there was Cricket for breakfast, followed by Athletics for midmorning snax.  After lunch a re-run of the cricket highlights ( frown ).  Then this evening more athletics { several decent performances from a few Brits }.  then washed up the days dishes (embarassed) in preparation for a repeat on Saturday & Sunday,  But I will try to move 'tween rooms a bit quicker,  Honest  wink

I've run out of things I want to watch on TV so I've been listening to a catch up, Fred at the Stand on Radio 4. Very funny if you like that sort of lockdown humour.

Had a long chat with my sister who had been gardening...for one of her sons!  I think we're getting a bit desperate TammyG, far more DIY etc than normal and still further weeks to go.

It's been very cold, icy winds.

One thing I've learnt in lockdown, nearly every dogs name in the village! That's my useless bit of information for tonight.... 🐶🐕 wink

Another cold day, but mainly dry.  OH went shopping on her own while I pottered, but she forgot to pick up my prescription, will get it tomorrow.

I fitted  a new electronic timer on the bathroom towel warmer, so now have to read the instructions on how to set it, and then made a third little pram sheet for  Baby Brother.

Need to start thinking about what has to be done in the caravan before we go anywhere, some new lights are needed over the sink and above the top lockers.  Just hope everything else is still working!

Well, another cold grey morning in the County Palatine with England's cricketers nobly ( 65 ~~ 5 ) filling in time 'til they can catch an early flight home. Perhaps I should brave the c c cold and fetch my Saturday Groan and Growl   before the Athletics start

Snap ABM. Yet another cold grey, but dry 😉, start to the day here.

Spoilt for choice on places to go people to see etc.......... At least I don't watch or follow the cricket - then it would be easy to feel down 🤣.

    Enjoy your day folks.

Edit takethedogalong always an unsettling time. Opposite moved out several weeks ago, new folk have lots of comings and goings, plus workmen, but not yet moved in. So far not acknowledge a greeting 🤐

great picture we have many Herons at the Haven but they are normally perched on the island in the middle and i do not have telescopic lens so difficult to photograph, think they have moved there to keep out of reach of the foxes frown

Fantastic day yesterday and looking good so far today, but very cold. For those with the expensive varifocals you should be able to pick out Osbourne House. I am sure we really do not appreciate what we have on our doorstep, I was out at Stokes Bay yesterday some 3 miles from home . cool

We feel landlocked at the moment, the coast is just a bit too far into the next county to justify a visit.

Lovely sunshine here, quite cold but I've been out in the garden planting up a few things and doing some weeding.

Must get my upholstery job done this weekend.....smile

I understand land locked completely! About 45 minutes to the coast for us - but to be honest weather hasn't been such to tempt me so far, especially with lazy east winds. (They go through you rather than round you!). 20 minutes will get us to lovely river end, could walk the river/canal but that'll be a marathon distance there and back, not to mention condition of the natural towpaths!, and estuary but far too busy as they've built so many houses over the last years so that adds to it especially I would imagine in lockdown. I do walk along our rivers, we have 2 but so do lots of others. I keep telling myself, not long now fingers crossed. Just a change of scenery would be so welcome.

Still grey and very chilly here. Not inspiring at all, especially on the gardening front. Just going to peg out the washing, hopefully it'll dry, we have a breezy area where I have a line regardless of wind. Dog walks continue to be muddy, ocassional slight improvements but more moisture arrives before we really benefit...... so dirty washing daily.
