Happy days, have spoken with the club re our tunnel booking due to expire on the 28th June, all ok, the tunnel are being very generous and allowing folk to extend the dates due to all the lockdowns in both countries. smile  will need to work out dates for September now.

I can now go on and book sites in the UK for June hurray (surely the nippy one will let us out by then)undecided I've worked out a tour (I think) had to pin OH down to dates as we have 2 vehicles require MOTs, not going to bother with service as they have hardly done any miles, MOTs will be brought forward a bit to fit with our tour but still within allowances.

Got very confused with the pricing of sites with C&CC, so called the phone line and spoke with a very helpful and open honest member of staff, everything is much clearer now. Their system is not very transparent or easy to work out, you only get a price once you get to the final booking page. You can of course back out from it but it would be nice to know before hand what kind of price you are looking at. They have changed the way they work this year, it was confusing before but now its even worse, so have asked for a note to be sent to whom ever that the system is worse than before.

OH been busy taking away garden waste to skip and charging up the MH battery as it was flat surprised might have to buy a new battery frown

Rufs, snow still on hill tops but not enough for skiing, we always used to go skiing at Easter with the kids but that was in Germany. When we got back here we gave up as you spent more time heather hopping than skiing. We have been warned for more snow end of the week, we might not get any but the hills could. Its getting colder again Brrr.

I tried to post this yesterday but it hasn't appeared so will try again:

We had a glorious few days of sunshine at the end of last week and over the weekend so went for some great walks, visited a garden centre and did some useful jobs in the garden. I under-planted our new ornamental Japanese cherry tree with some primroses that I bought in the garden centre and generally tidied up and OH gave the grass a bit of a haircut and clipped the edges. Yesterday and today have been grey, misty and chilly so have caught up on some indoor jobs including the monthly sort out of banking and paperwork. We heard the happy news yesterday that 2 of our youngest grandchildren have got into their chosen (different) grammar schools so we are feeling very relieved and proud.

We had motorhomes for years and either traveled with our bikes or a small motorbike on the back. Our favourite was our lovely Kontiki which was very roomy and had a good sized shower room.  OH finally decided that he wanted to change to a caravan because he wanted a car on site. I won't tow the caravan.

No news yet about the census.

We were looking to stop 3 nights at CCC Kendal, but it came up as unavailable for our dates, or at least for  some of them.  Where do you find the calendar that shows what they do have available?

There was space on their Stavely site, but the price was almost as much as the CAMC Kendal site which we have already booked as a "last resort" as it is not a site we are that keen on.

Looking at Cls in the area but have not yet enquired about availability as not sure when dear Nicola will set us free!

After the distraction of the garden gate yesterday, I finally got my three solar panels fitted and connected up on the MH roof. Just need to sort out an inverter and I shall be immune to power cuts/orange cables. The other good thing is that there is now less roof to polish.

Good to read folks news and doings.

Doesn't the sun make everything seem better? We got an hour or 2 late afternoon but it was misty and felt really cold most of the day.

Frightened to write too much 🤫 but tonic seems to be working and I'm feeling more human again. Even started the AA form. Spoke to age concern for some assistance and apparently start from stratch again as all the original paperwork destroyed by DWP! Even have to put details of the account you want payment to......  So spent ages sorting medical reports and appointment letters, as can answer questions on seeing doctors and specialists as no one has!, got those photocopied this afternoon. Got what I'm going to write in the boxes more or less sorted, then I'll photocopy that for future reference...... before posting.

Our new boiler now 'bangs' when firing up, several visits from installers now have the manufacturer's coming out. Naturally it doesn't do it when they're here, I've been recording it but that's not easy either. We certainly know how to have fun here 🤣🤣.

'Rat' man been again, 3rd time, only a little bait gone, that's 1st time since putting in here 2 weeks ago. so leaving un situ. Saw at least one for last few days. Had to despatch one baby myself, it did look poorly and I didn't want it to suffer too much. Wasn't nice and a first for me 😢. It was when I was feeling pretty poorly and as I did it I thought I hope there's not someone looking at me and thinking of offering to put me out of my misery 😱

Numbers are really dropping in our area, hope those in the Brentwood area keep their variations to themselves! 37.1 per 100k for us, let's hope folk continue to be sensible. Sadly NZ in lockdown again, folks not doing as asked 15 confirmed cases in Auckland but none overnight. Big numbers for them. Doesn't bode well for the rest of us if they struggle. But they do jump fast. Vaccines started over there.

Yes,  we are considering it as DD is keen for their holidays too, but has raised the problem of Isofix mountings for child seats.
We like the idea of a smaller MH, mainly for us, but that could also accommodate the 2 grandchildren, and could also be used for days out and weekends too.

We did look at bigger  ones back in 2015, with a view to towing our Smart, but found that what we liked was beyond our budget!

There  is no problem with our current caravan, as far as we know, but it is big, and OH will not contemplate towing anything that big.  It is very comfortable, and I am fine with towing it at present, but I am 78 now so not sure how much longer it is sensible to carry on with such a large van.

Now we will not be doing long trips abroad, we are looking at smaller MHs, which would be fine for us 2, and OK for 2+2.   We want to keep to under 3500kg, but have a decent payload, as we both gave up our 3500kg+  licences when we turned 70, plus neither DD nor SIL have a licence to drive anything heavier, or of course our present large outfit.

Having ruled out a larger MH back in 2015, and needing a new towcar, we bought the Touareg, which we really like.  If we did buy a small MH we would still keep the Touareg and rather get rid of the Smart.  We need a car with more than 2 seats for picking up the grandchildren from nursery!

Oh!   The other reason for thinking of a small MH is that we would really like to visit the various Scottish islands, and a large caravan just is not sensible for that.   We have been to Orkney, but with our previous, smaller van, and spent a few days on Lewis, where a relative of the in-laws has cottage, but there is still much to see.

We are with Denplan, and have had excellent service from our dental practice, both with treatment and check ups. Received a letter at the weekend to say that the hygienist was now taking bookings so we've each got another visit to the practice in the days before we head off in April.

    Good result Nellie.👍

We have to make 2 visits next week, first one on Monday to Hygienist then back again on Wednesday for check up with Dentist. Playing Hooky as we'll be in England.

Taxi service for MiL today. Bit of shopping this morning instead of our usual evening trip. Pleasantly surprised at lack of shoppers. Only trouble will be getting mrs WN up for it next week.

Quite a cold wind today but dry again and some sunshine this afternoon. The garden beginning to dry out so hope to get some work done on it in next day or two. Brown bins start again next week.

Is it both of you that has a visit to each, if so you've done well getting them both together, ours are days apart.

Another cold frosty night last night, with all the cars around having iced up windscreens this morning. However we've had a beautiful sunny day with just a slight nip in the breeze. We walked along the shore from Askham to Dunnerholm Rock, where we sat for our lunch watching the tide come creeping in over the estuary sands. Walked back along by the golf course and onto the old slag bank before returning to the car. It was warm enough when we got home for me to dig out my shorts for the first time this year. OH thinks I'm mad!!

I've found that Mrs.Nellie does tend to be right.laughing

Unless one of us is having some extra treatment wd always book 2 appointments following on from each other, usually booked before leaving the surgery and often have them so that they run together with Hygienist and Dentist, so we're normally in there for 40-60 minutes. However the Dentist has to change regularly to take her daughter for treatment, hence the different days. No big deal for us, particularly at the moment. Besides which it gives me somewhere to take Mrs WN for our anniversary.😂

    Once a Romantic, always a Romantic.🌹🌹

The way I do it is, open up the C&CC.

It opens with the front page '2021 Club site offers' 'book a Club site'

I select a region, then click on the RED search club sites, (don't fill in any other boxes)

It then opens up pages with a list of sites in that region, for Northern England there are 17 sites.

Click on the GREEN book this site, select pitch type. It then opens up a calendar, green dates are availability, grey crossed out ones not available.

I just then click on the calendar for the arrival date and then on the calendar again for the departure date.

Click on the continue with booking.

This brings you into another page, Check/Enter dates.

Fill this out again and it opens up the final booking page where you can check the price and other details, you can change pitch type here if you wish. Also change to 'ACR member'.

'Continue with booking' takes you to the payment page.

I've been doing my bookings this way since someone else posted how to on here a few years ago, it has changed slightly but that is how it works now.

By seeing the calendar you can work out dates that are suitable to your tour, a little tweak here and there and you can usually get what you want.

The price that is first displayed (on the list page) is only for the per person (if logged in then its usually for 2 people) then a  grass with electric is £4.70 and £5.95 for a H/S with electric.

    Hope this helps. smile

Many  thanks for that TG, that is a much better way of doing it according to OH, who does the CCC bookings.

She has taken a look and can see that one of the nights we wanted, a Saturday is indeed fully booked, so we will have to find a CL.

Did not hear what the update from the FM was today......are we going to be released and allowed to travel by early June?

Not a problem gave him a pair of marigolds laughingMy pet hate is that white tell tale ring on the tyre that they leave behind yell Amazing really the old tyres were only fitted in 2015 by Kwik fit, but fitter said they were tyres manufactured just for KF and did not have a very good reputation, but all good now, maybe clean the cars today if the sun comes out laughing

Beautiful yesterday, caught these 2 love birds down the haven laughing

Metatone was my mum's choice, we were given it as children. Can still taste the iron twang when I hear the name. I'm actually taking Floradix, recommended by the pharmacist and his staff. Much less of a twang.

My nan always reckoned your system changed with the rise and fall of the leaf. I think there might be something in that too!

Cold grey and misty again here - why does the sun have to keep hiding? Once I've walked the dog I'll finish THE form, might feel better once it's done 🤣. It's so depressing focusing on the cannot rather than the can 😢

Just had an email to say I've had a win in the premium bonds - now where shall I go to celebrate? I'm not at the dentist again until the 19th 😉, might have to contain myself until then!

Great photo Rufs. The swans round here are all 'doing their thing' as well. I am a bit worried about last year's cygnets, now teenagers and still with their parents. Are they going to be pushed out into the big wide world when new babies arrive?

call it breakfast, call it brunch, both the same for me, fine English eggs and bacon, have to confess, tomatoes are Spanish, somebody spoils me laughing, missing the black pudding and fried bread frown, well i did walk pooch for 2 hours, not quite such a good day. Fog horns going in the Solent and the IOW was somewhere under a very large fog bank

"Are they going to be pushed out into the big wide world when new babies arrive?"

unfortunately at the Haven we have a fox problem which has escalated since they started work on a new ring road to by-pass Stubbington, and cygnets are easy prey yell

Bakers, Mrs WN used to take Floradix and it seemed to do her the world of good. Better than going on Iron Tablets. She actually had it on prescription for a while.

Had a bit of a scare during the night. Woke up as usual after about 4 hours sleep, tossed and turned for a while then looked at the clock.

It showed 3 (for day of the week) 3 (for month) and 3.33 a.m.for time.surprised

3/3/3/3/3. Yikes. Mind you I immediately went back to sleep.laughing Exciting life we live.

Cold out there today but dry. Have to go to town to have my feet checked over later on, pick up prescriptions and a new library book.

Strange coloured storm clouds this afternoon, maybe laden with Saharan dust ? Anyway we'll see what the car and van look like when things dry up!

Binge TV today with Ms Sturgeon and Mr Sunak...must do some more improving things after all that...like getting the chair project finshed and some gardening. We were just discussing today when our "garden" helper might return and the phone rang, she'll be here next week. I hope everything we've done so far meets with her approval! wink

Out for another dog walk and the rain has enriched the mud once more.

Floor person has delayed getting sample books to us, not regarded as essential work we get the samples etc., then order and wait till it can be done. OH has given up on floor laying, he doesn't mind ceramic tiled floors or walls but hates anything else.

Some plants arrived today and we've just heard we get another garden club Zoom talk and meeting later in the month...which we'll now manage without looking for the right buttons to press. It's ok making a fool of yourself with family and friends on Zoom but not so good with other people who seem to know what they're doing...laughing

get a new floor person, next Thursday we have the decorator coming in to decorate the whole of the inside of the bungalow, we had 3 people quote and all gave a similar start date, we will wear masks when in close proximity, and by and large try to maintain a suitable distance apart. Will hate it, have a mild form of OCD, so not having everything in its correct place is not what i like undecided  , might move to caravan for a couple of weeks laughing

No problem Kj, glad it works for you, I find it a much easier way as well. Can't take the credit for it though as I said it was posted on here a few years ago.

The night there is no availability did you check to see if there was a grass pitch available? I've had to do that on one site, as its going to be June I'm hopeful of it not being too soft.

I didn't see all the announcement but from what I saw it might be we are going to get released earlier, if the numbers stay as good as they are now. They did say that the tier system will come back into play and that they are 'adjusting' certain parts of it, one is that numbers have to be lower than before.

I'm hoping for May as we have sites all booked up for that but in Scotland just in case. June is going to be in England, back home in the first week of July (at the moment) definatley before the schools break for summer term wink  I had a fright when I checked out Dunbar for the begining of July, on our way up from Northumberland. Couldn't believe the cost, high season and no over 60s discount. Hence we will either come straight up from Northumberland or find a CL somewhere.laughing

Grey and rather cold today, winter is back frown

Food shopping day today, most bought in Aldi but I had to go to ASDA for a few things. Its been awhile since I've been in there as we have gone back to shopping in Tesco for the bits we can't get in Aldi. The staff in Asda here have always been challenging but now they are downright rude yell

Stopped off at my sister and BIL house on the way home to deliver the 'part' that OH has made to fix BILs angle poise lamp.

    Happy Anniversary Mr&Mrs WN smile

Watched a bit of the FMs interview today, can't say I was impressed, nothing new in what she was saying. Will be a few weeks before we know the outcome I suppose.

I've got an appointment at the opticans at the end of the month, hope the next pair of specs are better than these ones I've not been happy with these since I got them, took them back once and got the prescription altered but still not happy with them. First time I've had a problem so hope its just a one off.

Thanks Tammy, but it's not until next Tuesday. I'll carry the good wishes forward. Give Mrs WN something to look forward to anyway.laughing

Had to laugh at MiL. A few weeks ago she asked if I would give her a lift to the Chiropodist. Sure, no problem, but when? 9th.March! Oh, I said. Of course I will but I'll just cancel the High Tea I've arranged at the Grosvenor Hotel for our anniversary. 30 seconds for things to sink in....

You little fibber, she laughed, It's closed for things like that.

Got to take your fun where you find them.😁😁

    ps She's forgiven me.
