What are you all up to

Looks like another nice day here, more fog and frost but sun on the way.
Going to spend time cleaning and clearing inside the motorhome, removing stuff we don't need.
Kj it sounds too complicated trying to find a motorhome to suit all, try looking for one that will suit you as a couple with maybe extra berths, the family will adapt and grow and you can't plan for everyone. Too many possibilities.

Another frosty start to the day here. Beautifully sunny at the moment.
Good luck to those cleaning and sorting, spring is beginning to work its magic 😀
KjellNN brue and heddlo both raise very pertinent points to add to your musings......

We have an end bathroom in our motorhome which is spacious enough with a separate shower! Our previous one had similar. The UK manufacturers understand that we like larger bathrooms where that is practical. We have always dismissed designs with "wet rooms" ie toilet and shower combined but that generally becomes inevitable the more compact the motorhome. I tend to agree with Brue that Kj needs to think about the requirements of what he and his wife need beyond those of the broader family simply because it becomes and impossible choice to satisfy all the conflicting requirements. Easier if you just want to make provision for a couple of grand kids to stay but more difficult if you go beyond that. We were thinking of changing to a motorhome some years before we made the actual decision.

It came up with that initially. I changed it back to cam belt but it seems the gremlins don't take no for an answer.
Glued down two of my semi flex panels yesterday and removed the original framed one in readiness for the third panel, giving me 300W. The three panels are only a fraction heavier than the single framed one. Despite reading on the web that a tube of Sikaflex should give 8.6metres of 10mm strips, I've run low on the amount I purchased for the job. Now waiting for Amazon to deliver a further tube of goo.

Yes, we would of course buy what suits us best, and a decent, separate, shower is top of the list as we do pretty much use our caravan one all the time, that was where most of continental MHs we looked at 5 years back fell down. The separate showers were mainly rather cramped.
Kitchen space is not so important, the table can be used as additional worktop, and now we are not doing our previous 3 month trips abroad, a fixed bed is not a requirement either. This means we can look at shorter vans.
We would want have the possibility to sleep 2 grandchildren, as this would allow our daughter and family to also use it, so we need as TW said to watch the payload.
OH looked at the Bailey Adamo, but the payload is not so generous as the van is rather longer than we wanted.
There are a few Continental models that may fit the bill too, their payloads are better.
The drop down bed models are looking interesting, but there is no info on the actual size of the shower area given by any manufacturer.
The question of fitting child seats is very relevant if DD is to be using it too. She has been looking at that and has not yet found any models with Isofix fittings, so that seems to be the main problem.
Which van do you have David?

There are some van conversions which have decent sized washrooms like the A/S Warwick XL but they're on a long wheel base and usually there's just room for two. For one or two small children you can get camping style hammocks that sling between the cab seats as long as both seats swivel....it's a complicated game! Much easier to decide for two adults with a bit of leeway if needed.
Must go and clean up our M/H now, coffee first!

We had a separate sower in our Bailey caravan and were looking for similar in a MH. However, the Hymer that suited us in all other respects had a combined unit. Having used it a fair bit on Aires and as a result of covid, we are very pleased with it. The design is excellent and in shower mode much larger than the separate one in the caravan.
Lovely day here, must get out in the garden. The birds will be pleased, a new supply of fat balls arrived this morning. They have been looking at the empty holder somewhat forlornly.😂 We ordered them and a bag off seed from Vine House Farm yesterday. Had an email from DPD last night saying they would be delivered Monday. Turned up at 7:37 this morning. Fortunately OH was up and about.

Kj
We have a Bailey Alliance 66-2 which has two single bunks and an end bathroom. Unfortunately Bailey don't do an automatic version unless they decide at some stage to swap the Alliance from the Peugeot base to the Ford cab and chassis which they use with the Adamo. The Alliance range is fairly well equipped and they have models in all sizes and configurations and most have pretty decent payloads. Some pictures of the inside of our van here

That Maxx fan is a good idea, not seen one of those before.

Gorgeous morning here. It’s hairdressing day for us. Zip over with clippers for OH, mine is more complicated, but doable at home.
Garden I think rest of day, too nice to be indoors.

Road Pro fitted it for me. It just replaces the mini Hiki over the kitchen. Didn't think air con could be justified but the MaxxAir draws cool air in or pumps hot air out. It's thermostatically controlled by a remote.

Sounds good. We have a big heki over middle of roof, but small one over kitchen end🤔Mind, our van might not be sophisticated enough to take one. Great idea though.
Just booked a gorgeous CL in Cotswolds, our kind of place. A racing stables, so very interesting. Love being around 🐎😁

That is interesting Steve, is it a wet room style or a swing wall?
We have been very spoiled by the shower in our caravan, it is a walk in style that sits in one corner, so is very big.

Just come in, as Ttda said too nice to be indoors so both my car and Caravan washed, occupants walked, garden had a couple of hours tidy up and elderly neighbour has had his greenhouse roofs seen to. The apex was leaking so metal upside down guttering screwed in place on top of them to prevent water ingress.
He and his wife had their second jabs yesterday. Things moving along nicely here. Still waiting for first jab for Mrs WN. My fault for marrying someone so young.
She is currently painting a cow! One we met in a field near the centre of Oxford one year. Oil painting has kept her sane this year. Normal years might see 3 maybe 4 oil paintings in winter appear, this year she has over a dozen hanging around drying off (or oiling out as she terms it). Most of us need some sort of hobby or pastime to make lockdown bearable and her hobby is certainly making it more bearable for me.

Me too, outside in the garden and cleaining inside the van bit by bit...I think a lot of people will be surprised when they step into their vans after such a long break, I've had to strip everything out but at least it's nearly done.
Nice to enjoy painting WN, our daughter cheers us all up by putting her efforts on line for us all to see.
Sad to see the final farewell to Captain Tom, so many people have been through similar during Covid.
Wondering just how loud the 8ft bomb in Exeter will sound. I was unfortunate enough to hear an IRA bomb go off in the 70s, very very loud....so loud that visiting friends never appeared again, not a huge loss in the circumstances and they weren't even having to live in the area!

It’s a wet room style with a sectioned screen, that when extended curves round screening the basin and loo, magnetically sealing against the doorframe. Works well, everything stays dry outside the screen, with the exception of the shower tray. The bathroom floor is one big tray with two drainage points. Move a cloth about with your foot when you finish showering and it is fairly dry. I suspect getting something as spacious as you have in your caravan might entail going above 3.5 tonnes. Not something we wanted to do.

Nice dry day here again today, bit more clouds at times but still very nice to be outside all day.
Gardening for me this morning, I got all along the long back border

OH was busy in his man cave doing things
he also rolled out the canopy on the MH and gave that a clean. This afternoon we went for a nice walk down to the Mill, river Tay now dropped by about 10ft, still running fast. Couple of canoeists out on the water and some fishermen.
Bumped into friends who used to live over the back from us, they moved to a different area of the village and our paths rarely cross these days, so we had a good chinwag. Our eldest used to do out with their eldest for a while when they were teenagers.
Bakers, sorry to hear you are still feeling tired, I hope the tonic works and you are back on form soon.

Well, I didn’t manage to get into the garden. Forgot we had arranged to go and pick up Mum’s birthday present. Seller had all sorts of issues with PO, so contacted us to see if we would like to collect it, which we duly did. Not far, but I did find a lovely water garden nursery to pop into. Got some lovely new plants for pond, aquatic compost and new baskets to sort out existing plants. Could be a froggy day tomorrow😂 The little blighters are getting frisky now....

I was astonished it was open to be honest, this one doesn’t sell food, other than for Koi Carp😂 Never been before, got what I needed though. I shall be having fish nightmares tonight, huge carp lurking in lovely ornamental pond. Personally I would have outed the fish and had it as a swimming pond👍

No, we do not want to go above the 3500kg either. We realise that the shower will have to be a bit of a compromise compared to what we have now, but would only go for one which we considered big enough. Hopefully we will be able to go and stand in some examples within the next year.
Having removed a fixed bed from our requirements, there does seem to be a few smaller vans with a reasonable shower room/dressing area, which would be our preference.
