Hope it all goes well, the newer breed of boilers are definitely more efficient even if it's still a scramble to use the shower before the dishwasher goes on.......laughing (and we have electric showers!)

Thanks brue. Lots of floorboards and wall panelling off at the moment, but carefully done. Motorhome is coming in useful as well.

Our combi boiler has 2 settings 1 is eco, water takes longer to get hot. The other setting normal takes very little time for it to get hot. The boiler is right above our kitchen, bathroom takes a bit longer.

We have one like that.  The waste of water is really annoying.

We can still fill the kitchen sink with almost cold water when heating not being used and that is 10ft from boiler ,bathroom is quicker as just above boiler

Boiler is in🤩 Just needs Sparky tomorrow to finish off electrics. All went well until last 10 minutes.......burst radiator, but it’s an old one, on list for replacing. Worst possible room though, got some cleaning up to do. On the plus side, we now have plumbers coming back to do our shower for us, they are quite local so a very good contact for the future.

Noticed we have eco setting as well. It’s temporarily wired up at the moment, but will have a good look around it once fully wired and new thermostat in place. Loads more space now in attic as well.

After a 6 month wait and 5 cancelled appointments Mrs WN got in to see her dentist and had the temporary filling that was fitted in February removed and work done to prepare the tooth for capping. Hooray!

Had to quietly infiltrate England to get there but parking was easy.😂

Have to wait until tomorrow to find out her next appointment.

Mulberry tree decided to finally decamp all of its leaves yesterday so that was one of my jobs today along with all of the other detritus deposited lately from the woods.

Has you system been "flushed" causing the burst radiator? if it is an old system and not done there could be sludge in the system which can clog up the heat exchanger as they have very small "pipes" that carry the water,if the radiator the burst is old same age as others and you have had the system flushed keep an eye for leaks on the other radiators

    Sorry for this info

Lovely day today, so spent it out in the garden. Now completely shattered but garden is starting to look good again.

OH been busy doing woodwork stuff.

Its our eldest granddaughters 14th birthday on Wednesday, we would normally take her out for a meal on the day but we can't just now as they close at 6pm. So we took her and her brother out yesterday for lunch. We had a lovely time, they are growing up so fast, she is quite the young women ☺  Mum and Dad can't come up as they are down in England so they celebrated her birthday over the half term, she will have had 3 birthdays this year, guess who isn't complaining😀

WN, glad OH finally started her treatment.

Francis, glad you had a good break away.

Ours is no way that bad JV.

We were advised to not use eco when in normal everyday use but to use it when away on trips.

We always leave the boiler on and the thermostat at 14c when away (not I summer) by putting the boiler setting to eco it stops the boiler coming on and off, as no need for hot water in the heat exchange. Heating can still come on if it drops below 14c.

WN, glad OH finally started her treatment.

Thanks Tammy. Dentists daughter has been seriously ill so latest cancellations were understandable. We set off this morning and hadn't even left the village when the phone went. The Dentist!😱 I turned the car around as Mrs WN answered it. Just to let us know Chester was in gridlock. Phew.

Not much traffic in Chester but they have closed a lot of roads to do some big improvements to something so there are cones and one way systems everywhere. No problems for us though.

Another mixed day weather wise, the second one on the trot of winds and periods of rain. Didn't do a lot yesterday, but today, after a dry first walk it was Flyte's visit to the vet for his yearly injection and check up. All's well apart from him getting a bit heavy, so a modest reduction in his feed required. Then we went over to the shore, no walking on the beach though as we've had a very high tide with a strong wind behind it, so waves crashing into the shore. We had a breezy but very enjoyable walk around the nature reserve. After lunch a rather damp walk and as it's raining again it will be another set walk shortly......The joys of having a doglaughing

Gosh Freddy, you have a good memory, that was way back in March, just a couple of weeks before Lockdown!

Since then I have not seen a doctor, just a couple of phone calls, but it seems my bones are fine.

I had a chat last week with "the specialist" and am to have a blood test in a few weeks time to check on the current situation regarding my vitamin levels (I am on B and D supplements), and to check the level of calcium in the blood.   If things have stabilised, they will leave me alone meantime.

Been keeping busy recently with bits and pieces on DD's house renovations, Phase 2.  Now the builders have finished, after almost 4 weeks, I should be getting on with what I am supposed to do......painting, flooring, oak door surrounds, facings and skirtings, putting up bathroom cabinets etc.....but we are under threat of a stricter lockdown come Friday, so if that happens it may be difficult to get materials.

Today I was dispatched to buy paint for the ceilings and walls, and OH has ordered the timber, but we have no idea when it may be available.  Fortunately DD already has the bathroom cabinets and the flooring, so if we are still allowed to be there, I will be able to do stuff while OH is looking after Callum.

The builders have done an excellent job, so we will be having them to do most of our bathroom too, hopefully early next year, we plan to order stuff after Christmas in preparation.  I will do the finishing bits and the floor myself.  Having seen what works well and what can be a problem, we are now more confident in our choice of fixtures and fittings.

DD is very pleased with the new shower.....the feeble electric one in their en suite has been replaced with a digital one off the combi boiler, and in the new en suite to the spare bedroom there is a spacious shower bath with a very good new style electric shower for the children.

All they need now is for the skip that has been in the driveway for 4 weeks to be collected.

Finally finished fitting the microwave into the MH yesterday. Just have to store the removed drawer in the loft. Just a bit early to get the Christmas decorations down while I'm there though.

Noticed a few houses with Xmas decorations up round here as well. And some Diwali ones as well yesterday.

If we can’t get out in MH this December, it’s one of the Winter touring things we will sort of miss. You see some lovely village Christmas efforts that brighten up the dark evenings.

We have already decided to have a low key Christmas. Usually I like to forage for natural stuff to use in house, but only because we have family dropping in, sometimes host a big family get together. That won’t be happening this year. Tree will be going up though, got to have a tree....

Yes, one of the areas we love for Christmas. Hutton Le Hole always looks good as well. Pickering is our December default, we stayed at Fox and Rabbit last year, excellent food.

Have you walked Cropton Forest Rocky? We like to park over railway line at Levisham Station, follow river and forest road. We used to drive it from top of Forest up past Stape, but it’s gated now and off limits to vehicles after so far. Further on from there is the “Heartbeat” Ford, you can walk either direction from there, along river or up onto Moors. The Secret Garden was filmed using this area.

Hutton-le-hole is excellent👍🏻, I stay regularly at Westfield lodge. Not only walked Cropton but I stayed there a few times, taking an LV to Cropton is hairy😂. Worth it for Cropton 2 pints ale mind. I’m a super fan of Nth Yorkshire generally.

Another vote for North Yorkshire from us too it’s one of our favourite places. We spent 3 weeks ar West Aston CC in the summer and had a great time Whitby being a favourite as well as Thornton le Dale and Pickering we always visit Mathewson Classics in Thornton le Dale when we are down that way have been going there for years. Another recommendation for the Fox and Rabbit we had a meal there twice in July and the steak and Ale pie was lovely. We plan on using the CL next to the pub next time we are down that way we popped our head over the fence for a look and it seemed very nice

OH and I have been leaf sweeping on an industrial scale today...he reminds me constantly about the solution to this problem..but I see he has ordered some exotic tree seeds. wink

The chain saw is going now but that's just to saw up some wood and remove some dead and overgrown bits.

Hoping to find somewhere near to go for a walk this week, can't justify the coast, will have to leave that to Dorset dwellers.

Kj you must be pleased to have got so much work done. Hope all goes well if there are further restrictions. We are still seeing a rise in Covid cases locally, disheartening at the moment. So we've got to stick to the rules.
