What are you all up to

Good to hear that you all including MIL enjoyed your day out at Llandudno, WM, and that the trip has cheered her up somewhat.
Millie and TG you both have had a busy day by the sounds of it. I completed the polishing in the van today so main jobs done. Last night after our last walk out I was just settling do have a read before bed when a knock came to our door. It was a elderly lady neighbour asking for assistance as her husband had tripped over and was unable to get himself up off the bedroom floor. After a bit of a struggle I managed to get him into his bed and fortunately this morning he was up and about, and not suffering any ill effects. Just pleased that I was there to help.

Well done nellie. What a good job you were around to help. It would have been very worrying if the elderly gentleman lived on his own. Our caravan is in storage so all cleaning and polishing will have to wait until the new year I think. We did give it a good clean after our last trip though and OH went and checked it last week the day before this latest lockdown.

We haven't cleaned out our M/H like we usually do but it's on my list, if we hadn't had lockdown I think we'd have had a few day trips with it.
Glad your neighbour was ok Nellie.
Nice to hear about Llandudno WN, a very familiar place to me as my grandfather was in Deganwy for many years, lots of happy memories. I don't know about your mother in law but I haven't stepped inside M&S either for a long time now, same for other shops too. But I'm ok with ordering on line from various places.
We haven't been able to tidy up much outside Millie, we've had a lot of apple crushing going on but that has finally finished today (I thought that a couple of weeks ago, but no...) I managed to sweep up some more leaves later today and we're nearly there on the fairly tidy stakes!

Today I thought it was Friday, so by tomorrow I'll be a day ahead again no doubt.

Definitely Thursday 12th Nov, Brue !! I know only too well 'cos my aged sister is 90 today, No 1 mate is 78 ( I was best man at their wedding 51 years ago on the 1st ) and the verdammt BBC has taken the first involuntary chunk of the over 75s licence fee as well. ( Smile, Smile , Growl in that order ) !!
Quite understand your gentleneighbour's problem, Nellie, I have that same problem when I'm chasing the occasional groat round the floor !! Seems almost as if I'm meant to stay there with it

Ha, two things to celebrate today. Yorkshire Ripper is finally dead, (there’s a very special pit in hell reserved for him,) and looks like someone else’s time is up as well. Cheered me up no end.👍😁
Well done Nellie on your help. We used to rescue Dad occasionally, good to hear no ill effects.

If you're near Penrith and fancy taking home a wonderful cow (or two), why not pop into the Auction. Only one of you mind. It's a Pedigree Dairy Shorthorn Sale and three of our finest are on their way there. I'm not sure how the limitations will affect sale. In days of old the whole family would have gone, and then enjoyed dinner in the auction mart cafe. Today it's just my son and grandson.
Meanwhile I'm making dinner for three. Rice Pudding in the oven and I'm about to dig deep in the freezer to find some fish, to do something interesting but easy with.

We used to go to auction sales (horses and tack) at Pannal Goldie, always an interesting day. I once nearly won a piglet in a raffle in Cornwall, got second prize instead, not sure how we would have got it home, so best that we lost that one!

A lovely day here now the wind and heavy rain has passed. Off to do the village shopping shortly. This morning has been largely taken up so far by booking a Tesco Christmas delivery slot. It was very reminiscent of the old December frenzy site booking day.😂 Just a screen saying the website would was extremely busy and you would be let in as soon as possible, no clock or number in the queue. After just over an hour it flashed to the slot booking page and just like frenzy day the prime slots (sites) had gone. Managed to get our second choice of day / time though so not all bad.😀 Just have to sort various presents now, although granddaughters are sourced and in transit. Just have to find somewhere to store a nine foot slide, 🤔 as the house is in decorating disarray with the sitting room all stored elsewhere.

Waitrose released their Christmas slots about four weeks ago and we managed to nab one for the 22nd of December. No idea why they do it so early? Can't see it being much of a celebration this year so how much actual Christmas shopping will go in the order I have no idea. I have a cupboard full of wine so won't need more of that. We already have the Christmas cake and Christmas pudding which came this week. Just need to decide what to eat on Christmas day. My choice would be a rib of beef but don't thing Margaret is so keen. Looks like a turkey crown again which should see us all through January

As kids ( Young children !! ) we used to spend Mondays in t' olidays at the Cattle Market in Gresty Road Crewe { where they got a lot of footballers from
}. Find a stick & earn a few ( very few !! ) pennys helping to move the sheep and pigs from pen to auction ring and back. Strange really after doing all that in the muck and s*** I still like a good proper meal, meat and veg and real gravy, for which I thank you Goldie & Co

My Mum's closest friend died at the same time as my Dad, very sad at the time. Her friend's husband was a sheep farmer in Cornwall and to cheer themselves up a few years later he took Mum up to the ram sales in Kelso. I think he thought romance might blossom but I'm not sure it was the place to start. They remained good friends. 🐏
PS they did buy a ram so the long journey was worth it.

Some customers complained to Tesco that they had been waiting hours to get onto the supermarket's website.
"We're sorry if things take a bit longer than usual," Tesco said on its Twitter account.
"A lot of customers are using our website and app at the moment."
Tesco said it was "using a virtual waiting room to help us manage the flow".
Supermarkets have been overwhelmed with demand as people start to plan for Christmas, and rival Ocado has already sold out of slots after "huge" demand.0 -
Waitrose released their Christmas slots about four weeks ago and we managed to nab one for the 22nd of December.
We normally do an M&S order. However, the decimation of their stores means the only option is a visit to one in the centre of town, so decided to give it a miss this year. Did look at Waitrose but slots for the one store in North Nottinghamshire are rarer than rocking horse pooh.

We've also abandoned the M&S Xmas order this year, OH won't want to wait in the click and collect queue in town. I got a slot with Waitrose, I see they're fully booked now so I'm glad I did it early on.
Now wondering if some things won't be available so will get some items in beforehand. I think we'll be on our own even if restrictions are lifted slightly.
The last time I ordered a feast for two I had Norovirus!
So am not expecting too much this season.
I enjoyed seeing the JL advert this year, probably won't enjoy seeing it a million times though.

Having read how the internet slowed up this week whilst people downloaded the new web games it's an indication of what could happen if we do too much stuff on line....

I’m not worried about Christmas. It’s January 1st that worries me........🤨

A walk in the sun and a trip to the tip in the rain. Glad it was that way around.
The recycling centre has new rules. Must show a Utility bill or Council tax bill to show you live in the county and no trailers, for the moment anyway. So there was a bit of chaos there this morning as some people hadn't read of the new rules.Mrs WN is a happy bunny. Her AirPod Pro arrived today, 2 days ahead of schedule. Now all sync'd up to her other devices.
Well done Goldie. I remember watching Adam when he returned to market recently, saying prices were depressed due to lack of trade so hope you got a decent price for them.

I am partial to both lamb and duck and would be happy with either over Christmas but unfortunately Margaret is not so keen!

We have arrived on site (sorry to those who can’t go away at the moment) just our local site the only site we can use at the moment due to the restrictions. Got set up Quickly just finished when it stated pouring. Just phoned and placed our order at the little chippy in the village so that should be ready for collection in about half an hour little treat for us as we are away. Just planning to relax.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

I think we are lucky that we have been accepted by Waitrose on their vulnerable/older customer list so we get priority and to be honest I am not sure how we would have coped over the last few months without being on that list?
I did have a look at the M&S Christmas Food and there is some nice stuff there but as you say you would have to collect and anywhere near Christmas it would be very busy.
If we need anything from Tesco we get our son Simon to add it to his shopping and he drops it of on the way to work very early in the morning! He seems to have no problem getting slots but he is often up by 5.00am in the morning!!!

"I did have a look at the M&S Christmas Food and there is some nice stuff there but as you say you would have to collect and anywhere near Christmas it would be very busy."
The last time we did an M&S Christmas Food order it resulted in me having a very long wait in the Truro store. Unfortunately (or maybe not
) the collection point was right in the middle of the lingerie section!
A real "Father Ted" moment, never to be repeated (unlike the actual Father Ted moment)!

Gosh going all christmassy there but these shopping slots have to be booked early, we only have click and collect here at Lerclerc some larger Carrefour's that we know about at present, will go to our local butcher re xmas order plus local markets for fresh produce.
We have been busy today both cars and caravan have been cleaned and using water pumped from one of the large water butts, OH does not clean his 4x4 very often, when he had land rovers I used to clean them more than he did, but at least all cleaned now for awhile as not going far with lockdown although OH going to Pharmacie on Monday for medication as he said he tried yesterday after the doctor's visit but to many folk in the queue, good system with the doctor you turn up at your appointed time which he did and only 1 there and straight in to see doctor as in the past the waiting room is usually busy.
Still warm here 23C today and warm again on Saturday and Sunday and then down to 13/14C so much cooler next week.
Take care and stay safe folks.

Nice start to the day but rain showers by mid afternoon.
Lazy morning, then some potting up of bulbs (thanks millie) this afternoon. Managed to do a bit of leaf raking as well until the rain came on.
As there will only be the 2 of us for Christmas I don't think we will bother with all the usual stuff. If we are free to travel we might even go away in the MH for a few days. I've already got a joint of beef, pork and a chicken in the freezer. We don't bother with cake but OH does like Christmas pud. As we won't see the kids or gkids it all seems rather pointless.
Francis, we are not envious at all
have a good break away.0 -
Since first lockdown and car batt flat in garage through not being used ,it as been outside with an Aldi solar panel keeping batt topped up,we went to Norfolk 4 days before latest lockdown, then had to return home
Twice now since coming back ,some one has mentioned "had we been away" as noticed our car was "missing" from where it had been in recent weeks
which gave them and "others who Prowl", the house was not occupied
Car now going back into garage, when i find a way of getting power to batt charger and access to front of car to charge batt

Had a "nice" chat with British Gas about my Homecare renewal today.
They managed to give the outsource company asking for my "experience" of the renewal the correct email but have been sending my renewal terms to a now defunct email. They couldn't understand how they obviously know the correct one to give to the outsourcing company but still had the wrong one themselves and suggested I hadn't updated them! Oh that was fun. Cost them quite a bit off their renewal premium. Now what new customers would pay.👍
So do I now fill in the "experience" and say it was good or not?🤔
