Since I no longer have a tow car in the garage, "stuff" is expanding to fill the space available.  undecided

    Brian

It reminds me when I had some spare wine racks. I put them out with a note "free to a good home" or something similar and they were gone very quickly and I didn't even see who took them! What disappointed me was that whoever took them, if in fact they were a neighbour, didn't even knock on the door and offer thanks!!! On a slightly different note. When we were having our windows replaced somebody from further up the Close asked the fitters if they could have the old window frame but didn't think to ask us if it was OK. We wouldn't have objected. I sometimes think I am too old fashioned, either that or we come across as unapproachable!!!!

Yesterday OH dug this up in the garden. We're always finding things but we liked this one. The bottle says

    Elliman's Royal Embrocation for Horses

    Manufactory Slough.

Glorious here today  certainly in the shade ๐Ÿ˜‰. In fact I must move when I complete this post as sun has crept round and shade has moved. Luckily we have plenty of natural shade.

I'm not getting the sunshade out until my rambling rector has finished. Lost the blooms last year to high winds and heavy rain. It's just beginning to blossom. We do need the rain.

We do have lovely big fluffy clouds in our beautiful blue sky. I can't recall such prolonged blue skies for a long time. Lack of pollution?? Certainly more aircraft activity, high vapour trails and 2 at once this morning. Lovely without plane stacks ๐Ÿ˜€

Cut the grass this morning, I fitted a new mower blade yesterday ๐Ÿ˜€. Great job, no idea on the age of the old blade! Very warm work indeed. Edges done so looks great. It certainly sets off the garden ๐Ÿ˜‡

Conservatory blinds still being fitted, hot in there! But he didn't arrive until 11am ๐Ÿค. I was hoping he'd be gone early afternoon, as he didn't leave until 8pm on Monday. I need to thoroughly clean and wipe every surface not to mention vac etc and replace smaller items of furniture, so looks like late finish for me too!

Full details of puppy collection received together with feeding notes. 3 feeds starting 6am ending 10pm and a toilet visit 1-2 am. Good job we have a lark and an owl combination between us ๐Ÿคฃ. Can't decide if I'm more excited about a stare at our son or collecting the puppy. Not had this much to look forward to in 63 days ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Victorian bottles can pull in a pretty penny in the right corners. A friend of mine has funded cars and houses from his finds from Victorian bottle waste pits, he is a bit of an addict where these are concerned, he doesn't go anywhere without a trowl!

Another beautiful day here, noticed yesterday the grass was turning brown and the shoots from my plants were wilting so spent an hour or so watering the garden last night, looks a lot better for it today.

Just got back from another stroll, this time we drove to a little village called Moreton ( where Lawrence of Arabia is buried) where there is a ford crossing of a river at the start of a long bridal way that ends at Bovington tank museum.

Bramble is not to keen on water, especially when he can't touch the bottom so I walked him slowly into the river on the lead and got deeper into the river until it was up to my waste, Bramble easily swam but was a bit unsure so I let him back to the shallows and to the bank so we continued our walk. On the way back we did the same but this time Bramble still on the lead, swam into the deep and started heading up river, I think I have converted him into a water-baby cool. Now he is dry, his coat looks the better for it.

The roads were pretty busy the A353 is closed so instead of taking a more appropriate route we came across 2.5m wide lorries trying to negotiate 2m wide single track roads...infuriatingfrown

Our normally quiet, well recently anyway, roads have suddenly become noisier and are seeing a lot more traffic but I found out that one of main by pass arterial roads for the local town is closed for about 3 weeks and most of the traffic now has to go through town thus using the local roads. It was very strange seeing so many concrete lorries and builders vans on the road as we crossed it to a much quieter lane for our walk this afternoon.

The morning spent applying some wood varnish to a gate. Knees and feet now aching.

Edit - Before Cy gets involved, the lorries weren't actually made of concrete!smile

Oh rajohno Moreton one of our favourite places. I'm picturing that river and walk as I type not been there for several years. You live in a very pretty county.

Photo attached of our emerging rambling rector rose.

Our garden had a good soak with the hose the night before last, last evening and will need another as soon as the sun goes from it.

I don't do car washing, I pay someone too ๐Ÿ˜‰, but I did hose off the dust this morning, mainly because as I started it up to move it for blinds guy to park where I was, giving him immediate access to our side gate, the auto windscreen wipers came on because of he dust level ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Evicted several spiders and their webs! Checked levels of screenwash oil etc and fuel still have almost full tank ๐Ÿ˜‰. Hope to fill up again on our return journey with cheapish fuel.

Your Rambling Rector is more ahead than ours  bakers 2. The first few flowers only appeared yesterday.  I swear it is at least 2 feet taller than last year laughing, I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. Two lovely things to look forward to. Looking forward to hearing updates when you have time.

Lovely day here today. Glorious blue sky and very warm. A few jobs done this morning and we have been sitting out in the garden all afternoon.  I was just beginning to feel a bit too warm so have come indoors.

Beautiful day here. We went for a walk in the forest and onto the Heath, taking some lunch with us for the first time. Very hot and humid under the trees, so much lush green vegetation giving off water vapour. Out on the Heath it was much more pleasant, with a light cooling wind. A few people out and about but mainly closer to the village, certainly no problem social distancing out there. BBQ again tonight, fifth since last Thursday. Cobb used to hot smoke some salmon tonight.๐Ÿ˜‹

Rajohno I looked up the bottle, just out of interest and was surprised to see the company was taken over by Horlicks! Not that I'd recommend embrocation as a night cap. wink We have an old midden in our garden that belonged to a nearby cottage, like the bottle most things are damaged and broken but we find all sorts of things. Further out in the garden we've found much older stuff...it all goes into a box to keep.

B2 we've noticed more planes going over, at one point there was a perfect St Andrews cross in the sky today. The rose looks great, nice scent no doubt. Hope you enjoy getting the puppy and seeing your son, a double bonus. We had to get up in the early hours (we=OH) when we had our new arrival, the final bits of house training didn't take too long as she was slightly older. We had the food lists etc but the cat, who is on a diet has taken a liking to chihuahua biscuits which hasn't helped his waistline at all. ๐Ÿฑ

Apologies if I've missed people out, hope most of you have had this warm weather.

We have an oldish garden as well. Occasionally dig up old bits of pottery and glass bottles. Best find ever was when we moved in. We had a Rottweiler who liked to dig, she dug up a long slab of marble, looked like an old hearth. Itโ€™s still outside, we use it as a foot rest for garden swing.๐Ÿ˜

Our conservatory blinds still being fitted. He will have to come back Friday apparently ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

So I won't be able to clean up properly and wipe down this evening ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค. Oh well I'll have to go with the flow. Plus get furniture back! I can't abide protected muddles ๐Ÿ˜ข.

Seems like Friday, 1st day with puppy here, won't be calm and serene after all, but there will have to be some safeguards, or delays ๐Ÿ˜‰ as cant have the doors open and the side gate wide open. Anything to avoid more cleaning after touch!  Trying not to stress out, I'm not good at that - like things tidy and sorted....... can't knock the hours he's put in but.............

    Oh hum!

Lovely day here to, bit of gardening this morning while OH did all the ironing smile

This afternoon we went on a nice bike ride into the town, 3 miles on the road to the next village then we can pick up the cycle path all the way into the town. Some of it goes along the river Tay and the North Inch. Really busy once we got into the North Inch so decided to not go any further than the Bell's stadium. Works out at 16 miles round trip.

Back home late afternoon and it had cooled down a bit, so back to a bit more work in the garden while OH messed about with the bikes.

Sky now has lots of clouds but high and fluffy ones, think Thursday night and Friday we are going to get some heavy rain, the gardens can certainly do with it.

When we cycled into town we passed section of the Tay that was so low folk were walking across to the island in the middle.

Moulesy thatโ€™s such good news. It gave me a giggle to think heโ€™s being lied to. ๐Ÿ˜Š I hope he continues to show no symptoms and manages the rest of his quarantine.
Bakers how big is your conservatory? It seems to of taken a long time to fit the blinds. We need ours replacing and I was hoping it would be a one day job?
Good luck on Friday with puppy and workman together. Have you got a name for the dog yet?

I typed this about 2130 and was rudely denied posting by essential maintenance again!

ADD46 I'd like to say think of Kew, but sadly not. I think its about 5x4m. He is working alone in high temperature and as he said of today if it could go wrong it did ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ฏ. Tuesday all 8 windows, 16 blinds including the fan lights and both doors, similar layout to windows and 2 roof blinds fitted. Some of the tension on those needed some tweaking, but the remaining roof blinds being troublesome. He's still at it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes we do have a name for puppy, all will be revealed on Friday ๐Ÿ˜€

Actually I haven't replaced the smaller furniture because it was 2145 when chap left, just minimal tweaking left, but as he said if it could go wrong yesterday it did go wrong! He also pointed out a flaw in the final roof blind material, which as my late mum would say a blind man, no particular pun intended ๐Ÿ˜‰, would be pleased to see. But yes there is a line of tiny holes the part of the length of the blind in the pleat line, much like the ones these replace, but these pleated blinds are double so no need to have holes on show for them. He's not happy so will be sorting that for replacement at a later date. So it was late after very thorough vac and tidy. When I think of it, we had window and roof blinds fitted at separate times and then they sent 2 guys each time and it took at least a day for each.

Right time to finish breakfast and gently prod OH as we are to be left before his usual getting up time these days ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Several jobs, including watering the newly planted grave, on our travels. Still can't really believe we are having a 'proper' day out. Day 63! And life will never be the same again ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

    Enjoy your day folks

M good news about your dad.

B2 good luck with new family member

Busy day in the garden yesterday, cut more off neighbours tree.  Mowed the lawn then scarified it.

In some ways this period reminds me of the late 1940/50โ€™s where we shopped little but often.  As we can walk to our Supermarkets that precisely what we are doing now.  This saves carrying too much weight.

Since about the 24th of March I have only driven 5 miles, we walk everywhere, last week we walked 49 miles.  Did get on a bus one day but got off 2 stops later as there was no social distancing.  I thought, wrongly as it happens, that every other row of seats would be blocked off๐Ÿ˜ท

Busy morning for me. Just about to bath Bob the Border Terrier, the dog groomer has just texted me to say that whilst she has reopened she can't do hand stripping for foreseeable future as can only see clean dogs. Knowing that Bob was in need of stripping (his appointment was booked for the day after lockdown) he hasn't been bathed since February. He currently resembles Chewbacca and smells worse๐Ÿ˜‚
