Not a great experience with the hospital / bus @milliehull . I always think that car parking for a hospital visit is the most stressful part of the whole thing. It's dreadful here at both Hull Royal and Castle Hill - our two main hospitals - and I always end up having to walk what seems like miles after parking the car. Not ideal if you're struggling to walk anyway!
Gardener is coming tomorrow - he turns up once every Sheffield Flood! Tried to do a bit of tidying up myself - just to show willing but it got the better of my knees and hips - so I'll just have to leave it all to him.
Glorious warm sunshine here today - it's really starting to feel like Spring๐

Apparently the bus now does not go to the main entrance at busy times because it hindered the traffic flow. The road is very narrow and cars can't get past the bus when it stops at the bus stop and that causes a traffic jam. Who designed the road and traffic flow?๐ก. This is a hospital that was only built about 10 years ago. It used to be great when it stopped at the main entrance as it was nearer than any of the car parks.

Took the ladies to Aberkhan today, an old mill on the North Wales coast road. Now a place to buy wool, crafts, linen etc. MiL wanted some wool for her next project so we agreed to buy it for Mothers Day. I took myself off for a coffee and read of the paper in the cafe whilst they surveyed the goodies. I walked in just as MiL was finally deciding on what wool she wanted.
"Where is the pattern Mum?"
"It's in those books at the front of the shop"
"There are 14 books Mum, which one?"
"I can't remember!"๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คฃ

All the best for both hip operations @InaD and @DavidKlyne-Margaret, I hope that the ops go well and that a speedy recovery is made.
Hospital appointment for 10am this morning and out by 11am so, as we were that side of town we decided to continue on to Lynmouth. Beautiful sunny day, quite a few people around already for this time of year. Nice lunch in a pub there. A wander around the few shops. Then a little walk along the green that runs next to the beach. And who should we see also having a wander along there with his partner/wife - a very long serving, old timer, (like us) famous disc jockey, a nod and hello was exchanged. We even finished our trip there with an ice cream. Wonderful to be out this spring, my very favourite time of year. Driving there I smiled when I saw all the daffs and primroses in the hedge banks. The weeping willow trees already in their greenery, the tiny leaves bursting out on the hedges, and best of all the new lambs gambolling about.

Pleased to report that Margaret successfully had her hip replacement surgery today. Despite getting there at 7.30am, fortunately to a near empty car park, the operation took place late morning. Went back into to see her this afternoon. Toes and legs gradually waking up from the spinal block! Had a text early evening to say she was helped out of bed and able to use the "facilities" and she has also had a bit of physio. I expect all the hard work will be tomorrow? It looks as if she will be discharged on Friday morning if everything goes to plan. Thanks everyone for the best wishes.

@milliehull We have a similar situation at our hospital in MK with regards to bus access. A few years ago they moved the main entrance to the hospital even further away from the buses. Funnily enough they have just introduced one service that does get closer but unfortunately it only covers a small part of MK. As all buses in MK go through CMK it might be sensible to have a shuttle service between CMK and the hospital, but what do I know!

Glad the operation went smoothly @DavidKlyne and fingers crossed that Margaret can get home on Friday, which I think is very quick. Hope she has a speedy recovery and it isn't too long before she can get out and about.
Shame about the problems with the buses, @milliehull you would think that they would have designed a special bus pull-in, such as our hospital has, when constructing the hospital. Fortunately we live close enough to our's that it is just a short, and level, walk for us to get there.
It has been another lovely sunny day, although we did have a bit of ground frost overnight, and the breeze was still a bit chilly when in the shade. We spend a very pleasant lunch time at a local eatery and back at the caravan, in the company of @Oneputt and Mrs OP. We had, as you might imagine, lots in common and so got through plenty of caravan chat and had quite a few laughs.

@milliehull I have go agree about the positioning of bus stops at PCH, dropping off passengers causes queues. Brilliant to think that the 'planners' never considered this aspect of bus travel. It certainly is a long walk from the one you had to use! I called a taxi when I was taken to A&E by ambulance - nose bleed, and it's arrival blocked the traffic ๐ค. Whilst OH was in Broomfield I used the bus, soooo much easier and, you can't often say it about the Chelmsford planners, the buses and taxis had their own loop, abused by some drivers, they could stop and pull away or be overtaken by other vehicles! We tried it on a bus from here. We tried driving to Serpentine Green and caught a bus, both ways we had to change at the bus station, another area of great planning! Mind you the Chelmsford planners made a mess of theirs ' despite the drivers saying you couldn't get a bus in a round, they built it ๐ซฃ. Guess who was right?
Beautiful day today weather wise, but thick fog to start. I'm learning to pace myself with my plantar facilitis. Having overdone it a few times. I'm not achieving much.....

Thatโs very good to hear @DavidKlyne , Iโm pleased for you both. I find it quite amazing that theyโve got Margaret moving around already, good stuff. Iโm sure it wonโt be long before she reaps the benefits. Do keep us updated ๐
Booked a site not far from Tewksbury for 3 nights, starting this Saturday. Itโs been a long winter so really looking forward to our first trip away this year ๐

Great news @DavidKlyne. So pleased all went well. They get the patients up and moving ASAP. OH was up and about very soon after the op albeit slowly and carefully. Hope the recovery goes well and that Margaret will now be pain free.
Another appointment today but luckily this time a phone appointment.
Eldest son popped in ln his way home from work yesterday and cut our grass which was a great help. Garden help resumes in 10 days.

A sunny day here and a cool breeze, shopping yesterday a new coffee machine as the old one playing up and has been repaired once by OH, gardening today and other household chores and the weather looks good for next week as well so more gardening for me and OH other chores.
@milliehull Just wondered how long before you were driving from your Carpal tunnel ops as a friend is having his right hand done this week and he does a lot of diy?

@RedKyte : I had the carpal tunnel op on both of my hands at the same time. Can't remember how long before I was driving...... However, I remember when I had my shoulder replaced... I have a feeling they did it on the Thursday afternoon... I was discharged on the Friday and I played the organ in church on the Sunday.. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ

We had day out today chasing a steam train around the NYM railway. Iโm not really into trains at all but I do like a lovely steam one. These were taken at Goathland and Levisham stations.

Wherenext I was about to post that she is already home, she was discharge around the time you were making your post! The physio's came today and did a lot of exercises with her, plus the stair test, then she had an x-ray which the Consultant was happy with so I don't think there was any pressing need to keep her in. I am left to watch her like a hawk to make sure doesn't try to overdo things. She seems to be moving around a bit easier but, of course, there is still pain from the operation. Things seem to have changed a bit since I had mine done as she has to inject herself with a blood thinners for the next nine nights. Perhaps less onerous to Margaret as she uses insulin? We now have a list of appointments but the first one is not for another two weeks.
BTW that jigsaw looked a bit difficult?

Yep, the jigsaw did have its moments of "why did I start this?". I've found that doing one does in fact help the hand and also the memory but now that the weather is improving I might have to think twice before starting another, although I do have one of the 4 Hemisphere World Maps from the British Library that looks interesting to say the least.
