We woke to frost on the ground but it soon went in the sun. Busy day with firstly a visit to Binham Priory. En route we passed a very intriguing house, East Barsham Manor, a Tudor prodigy house, built around 1520. We had around the Priory before heading on to Blakeney again where we had a walk along the causeway where we were accompanied fir a while by a Marsh Harrier! After lunch at the Quay it was onto the Church of St Nicholas, where I made it up the 135 steps to the top of the tower for the panoramic view. We finished our day out at Hindringham Hall Gardens, not large but well worth the visit.

St Nicholas Church, Blakeney is definitely worth a visit, with some beautiful stained glass windows. Great view from the top of the tower, but quite a climb up there!!

@nelliethehooker you know me too well. Didn’t have time when we got home on Sunday to clean the caravan but plan is to roll it out at the weekend to give it a good clean before our next outing

Will you do just the one site Francis, or break up your fortnight? We used to love the Lower Wensleydale Site, which gives an easy, fairly level half mile stroll into Leyburn, a smashing market town, plus you have Middleham with its castle, Castle Bolton not far away, and some beautiful walks and drives. We used to move over to Hawes from there, not far but again a nice town, great drives and walks. The really nice Bolton Abbey Club Site is another favourite, Skipton area. Always a favourite is Skipton, with its castle and church. I love shopping there.

@nelliethehooker lovely photos, we know all those places well. It’s a shame you cannot look around East Barsham, but even from the outside it’s interesting. If you get to StiffKey, look over the wall behind the church, and there is another Manor House there, not accessible though. Say hello to Oneputt for me😁

Got lots more plants back into garden yesterday, I have split some of the big clumps up, spread them about, things like Giant Scabious, Phlox, Monkshood, and I have put another Lady of Shalot Rose in to climb up the fence. Hoping it looks nice later in year. Woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose this morning, but don’t feel too bad. Under orders to stay clear of Mum though.☹️

I've still got Hawes and the Wensleydale site on my list of places to go, @Takethedogalong - It's just getting the time to fit everything in.... 🙂

Lovely photos of East Barsham Manor and Blakeney Church, @nelliethehooker

A bit more cloud today, but it's dry... thats the main thing!

@Takethedogalong We also like Lower Wensleydale, its a quirky site, no serviced pitches for @DSB !!! I think your distance into Leyburn is a bit out as its over a mile into the centre of the town!

@DavidKlyne you might be right regarding the walk to be honest, we went via the feeder lane when we walked, so I might be wrong. It’s a nice site though, unspoilt, a tad different. We used to tent camp there as well.

Got up with a bad cold as I mentioned, but a hot lemon made me feel a bit better. Garden Centre visit this afternoon, I wanted a couple of Bronze Fennel plants, and I found a nice pot to top our new water feature. I am lazing in front of stove now, feeling sorry for myself……sniff🤧

OK, ready to leave site this morning. Where are the Van keys? Half an hour later we were asking the same question. We knew they were inside the van as we opened up the night before and hadn't been out since. Turned everything inside out. OH suggested a walk and then start again. She had a spare set so I got my walking shoes out and the keys were inside them. Oh, how we laughed.🤣😡 I must have married an angel because not one word of vitriol came my way.

Lovely time spent thereafter. Mrs.WN got to spend some money in an Independent art materials shop en route to Birkenhead Priory. We intended to spend about half an hour there but in the end spent over 2 and a half hours, mainly due to a wonderful guide/volunteer who knew everything about the history not only of the Priory but also of Birkenhead. The Monks were the original instigators of the Ferry across the Mersey as long ago as the 13th.Century.

I will post more on Friday when we get home with photos as some of the history is worth reading about. Suffice to say it was extremely enlightening and time well spent.

Lovely weather again and tomorrow promises the same.

MiLs visit from carer went well so all in all the day turned out better than it promised.

Today we popped down to Shaldon, just across from Teignmouth. Lots of road works near the Ness... and they are doing a refurb on the outside of the pub too. Fortunately, the pub was still open... 😉😉😉 (although the Cafe closed today)

Hope you feel better in the morning @Takethedogalong and are able to continue with your gardening. Will pass on your good wishes when or if we meet up with OP. Missed that Manor at Stiffkey when we were there 3 days ago.

We have not been to Shaldon, @DSB so perhaps somewhere else to visit next time we get down to the South Coast. More grand photos!

Lost keys are a regular occurrence with me, in particular, @Wherenext but never had them disappear into a pair is shoes, usually just left in one of the caravan's open lockers. Enjoy the remainder of your stay. Birkenhead Priory is another place we've not visited but unfortunately there are very few CLs on the Wirral.

We have moved further round the Norfolk Coast to another CL we have not used before near Cromer. Not as well laid out as Barleywood but does have a decent sized dog walk around the parkland, free showers and a couple of serviced pitches. Found a good walk this afternoon through a local nature reserve just a couple of miles away.

Ah, @DSB my very first holiday with the newly acquired in-laws was to a Static caravan on Shaldon Ness. It was a favourite destination for MiL and FiL. Bicton Gardens nearby was on the list of places to visit amongst many others.

    Enjoy the lovely weather.

Worth a visit @nelliethehooker. Interesting little beach at Sheldon… Ness beach... It's a little walk from the car park, but you access the beach via a tunnel, through the cliffs. The Ness pub is good - dog friendly, but also has outside seating with views across to Teignmouth. The cafe is on the edge of the car park - we have always been pleased with what they have to offer. There's also Shaldon Zoo too - although wechave never been

Fencing now finished and looking very smart - has made me realise how 'tired' the previous fencing was looking - some of which had probably been there since the house was built almost 30 years ago.

Then the next bombshell came - the UV light in the pond filter failed towards the end of last year and have just checked with the main importer only to find out that the 'ballast' which drives it, is now obsolete - so a complete new filter ordered and on it's way. I seem to be spending money like it's going out of fashion, this week😥.

We had the inevitable news, yesterday, that our friend in Old Malton died in hospital the day before. As I said, he was a fighter right up to the end. His wife is being well supported, though - daughters from London and son from Wiltshire (also a retired Colonel) are with her. So sad to lose such a close friend - but at nearly 90, he had a good innings, and we must think of the happy times we shared together.

Another lovely day here in East Norfolk particularly as the Easterly wind has stopped.

It is going to be at least 6/7 weeks before we can get out in the van again due to waiting for spare parts and repairs.
Going to have to make a dash to Hampshire this weekend, will definitely make it back for meet up with Nell

Just had a phone call from the hospital asking Margaret would she like to come in next Wednesday for her hip operation as they have had a cancellation. Yippee, only downside is that she has to be there at 7.30am, is there such a time? As you can imagine she just wants it done and dusted. Just need to speak to their pharmacist now to establish what medications to take and what ones not to.

Great news @DavidKlyne!! 7.30 is nothing, especially if it is a local hospital. When OH had is back operation 18 months ago we had to get him to hospital in Cambridge for 7.00am which meant us leaving home at 5.30am!! I hope all goes well.

All systems go then DK. All the best. SIL is recovering well from her hip surgery, it was following a break so not straight forward. But she climbed a full set of stairs at rehab yesterday, so it’s all systems go.

At last good news DK and hope all goes well, I spoke to a friend the other night and his neighbour had her hip operation last Friday and was back home on Monday as it was a break but ok and he saw walking down the path with crutches and said good to be back home as she is 83 years old and her daughter staying with her whilst she recovers.

Well it has got a lot more windy today and tomorrow could be gusts upto 80km and rain as well so all chores outside done even a bit of washing which dried well, did put a few plants in yesterday as it looks like no gardening for a few days.

Glorious weather the last few days so much washing and gardening done. I actually went to my yoga class this afternoon without a jacket!

My little old Clio passed it's MOT yesterday - hooray. It now looks as though it will be going to our grand-daughter in NI as she will be 17 next month. I would far rather she have it than put it up for 'part exchange' which would just be peanuts. I shall be sad to see it go as I have it for years but she is so excited which is lovely.

That’s good news @DavidKlyne . It’s been a long road but at long last Margaret can look forward being pain free and regain her mobility. I’m pleased for you both 👍

In other news, my wife seems to be making good progress following her Bursitis diagnosis. It troubled her for over two years, but her mobility is almost back to 100%, apart from the usual aches and pains. This means we can get back to doing a few walks, nothing too strenuous though 🙂

Thanks @DSB will try to get there next time we are down that way.

Sorry to hear your news @richardandros as we know he was a great friend of yours. Glad to hear that your fence work is completed, and is looking good.

@Freddy55 pleased to hear that your wife is making good progress and you both will be able to do a few gentle walks now.

You will no doubt miss your Clio, @milliehull but I am sure your granddaughter will be very grateful to receive it, especially now it has passed it 's MOT!!

Good new and fingers crossed that there are no more changes to plan @DavidKlyne

Another lovely sunny day, with temperatures up to the high teens. We visited Blickling Estate today where we did the Pond Walk before lunch and another in the estate afterwards. We didn't bother going round the Hall this time as we have done so a few times in the past.

I went for a short walk from the site before our evening meal and came across an unusual memorial, opposite Southstrepps Hall, an avenue planted to the memory of Southern Rhodesia, dated 1890-1980
