We had a couple of days away near Hawes. This was Wednesday!!!🥶. Loved seeing the red squirrel. Sorry about the black lamppost I didn’t want to disturb the squirrel.

This was Thursday. What a difference a day makes! Beautiful.

    Muker.

Loved the pictures of Salts Mill @nelliethehooker. It’s on our list for a visit in April we really enjoyed our previous visit a couple of years ago and would like to see the new Hockney exhibition.

Beautiful here this morning, but we have a bit of frost as well. Replanting coming along nicely, garden looks so different to us. Not expecting things to be as lush along the border this year, but it’s good to give it a Spring clean! 🤭Excuse the pun.
Mum’s for me today, gardening up there if I get the chance as well.

Just been reading about Longships Lighthouse having a fog beep problem. Ear plugs required. Oh to be down there……😢

Well, we arranged the day around workmen being here but a phone call late yesterday afternoon changed it all as they will now be infilling the insulation next Tuesday, which is a blasted nuisance as MiL has a hospital appointment. OH will take her but parking is difficult and I normally drop them both off and then find somewhere or shop at local M&S foodhall until called. Workers wanted me to leave a key. Yeah, that's going to happen! So I'll be here whilst OH struggles with MiL.

Walked into town today. Beautiful morning. Given a lift back as the ladies were in town, with car.

Booked a 2 night break for Sunday and Monday and back in the morning on Tuesday as hospital and workmen due in the afternoon.

Cheers to @Tinwheeler for ampersand correction.

@nelliethehooker - No the work either side hasn't stopped. Very noisy today as they are cutting flag stones to size. Plus radio blaring. I prefer the noise of the cutting.😀

    @heddlo - you weren't on a Harry Grimm hunt were you?😀

    DCI Harry Grimm

Absolutely love David Gatward's books and can't wait for his next release due out soon - set in Hawes and surrounding dales and so accurate in terms of his knowledge of the area.

Weather is bright and sunny here today. Hawes is on my list of places to visit soon. However, our next outing out is York Beechwood Grange... Glad to hear that some folk are getting out and about... 👍👍

Talking of out and about - we are planning an outing on Monday. OH driving me 2 miles to Home Bargains to get more bird food, maybe pop into Aldi for some milk and bits and if all goes to plan maybe also call into Costa for a coffee. Baby steps and I’m really looking forward to it. Then maybe the day after out for a little walk. It’s beginning to feel like Covid times, just looking forward to getting out, even if it’s not much.

Bit of a change, @heddlo glad you too caught the fine weather. Grand photos and lovely to see the squirrel. Hope you get to see the Hockney exhibition, some very impressive images, but certainly not all to our taste.

Good to read that you are getting ready to head out and about, @DEBSC definitely looks as if you are on the road to recovering from your operation.

Must apologise for a miss spelling on my first post on here last night as, of course, I should have said Salt Mill, after Sir Titus Salt, who had the mill built around 1853.

It was quite misty this morning, bad enough for planes to be diverted from Leeds airport to Manchester. Thankfully it soon cleared and we had another lovely sunny day. We went to Chevin Forest Park where we had a couple of walks. After there only being 2 caravans on the site for the last 2 night the site is now full as 3 M/Hs arrived this afternoon. Another very clear sky this evening and the 4 planets were clearly visible.

@DEBSC it's good to hear you're on the way to recovery, albeit slowly. Every little step is a victory, however small, and it's amazing how seemingly insignificant things become very important. Keep up the good work!

@heddlo great pictures. Love Hawes, spent quite a bit of time there in the past, though not been for a while now. Good luck for next Monday with your appointment at the hospital.

Lovely sunny day here today, went out for a little shopping. Went to Waitrose, first time since Christmas. Was also planning to go to Aldi, but decided we did not need to.

Might see DD tomorrow, she has a mattress she wants us to store, but first we need to check what space we have.

Going to see our son and family on Sunday, we have invited ourselves for lunch.

Hiya @DEBSC . Good to hear that that you’re making progress, albeit small steps. It must be a tough time for you, both physically and emotionally, I do empathise. I wish I could offer some words of wisdom, but I ain’t the brightest. I do though wish you all the best for the future👍

@DavidKlyne , sorry to hear that Margaret has another hurdle to jump, any news?

@Freddy55 Thanks for asking. On Monday evening she has something called a Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram so I assume depending on the results it will dictate whether the hip operation can go ahead or whether there will be more tests? In the meantime we have been compiling a week long BP record, three times a day. I am no expert but if they were my readings I think I would be more that happy, but then I am no cardiologist!

@DEBSC glad you are improving and hope a change of scenery will help.

Hope other folks with appointments all go to plan.

A very sunny day here but now clouding over and a chilly NE wind but at least washing drying outside.

Have booked a small gite for 5 nights with our friends that we stayed with last September, as there is a well known plant fayre on over the May holiday here and not far to go about 2 hours from here.

    Have a good weekend folks.

@DEBSC so glad you are feeling well enough to plan a little outing. I hope you enjoy getting out of the house. Small steps. Best wishes.

We have had a hard frost the past few mornings (and the gritter has just gone past so obviously another frost tomorrow) but the frost has been followed by lovely sunny days. So we have spent a lot of time in the garden - cutting back, clearing, weeding etc etc. The garden is looking a lot better and almost ready for planting when it is warmer.OH has cleared and cleaned the greenhouse and I have cleaned the outside paintwork - well the downstairs as I dont do ladders!

We are watching Elkie Brookes on TV just now. One of our very favourite singers. We have seen her live many times over the years. She has a wonderful voice. She is now 80 and as good as ever.

Lovely photos @nelliethehooker. Hope you are enjoying your latest trip.

Hope the results from Margaret's Echocardiogram enable her operation to go ahead @DavidKlyne .

Thanks @milliehull the trip is going well so far, the fine weather helps!!

We had a hard frost overnight with the car windows all frozen up. However the sun was up and they soon thawed, well before we packed up to leave. We moved over to another CL, long established but new to us, at Bewholme near Hornsea, and we are pleasantly surprised with our choice. It turned haxy as the day went on and then the clouds slowly came across. Had a couple of walks through the village this afternoon. It must have one if the smallest and unusual churches in the area. Beautiful red sky this evening.

Some friends from our stay at Warm Lane Farm.

Great photo @RedKite. Sunny and bright this morning. Collected the caravan around 12.30pm - we're now at York Beechwood Grange. On the way up, got to Sheffield and it started to cloud over... cloudy here at York. Hoping it will brighten up tomorrow....

@RedKite fabulous photo, you are so lucky👏👏

Another beautiful day here, our current weather has been lovely, a real treat. Busy day doing a few house chores, and then we did some wood cutting for stove, that’s all stacked now. I finished off putting a few more plants into long border, as far as I can tell, everything I have dug up has survived, so that’s good, so far. We visited another lovely nursery yesterday, had a meal there, but a tad disappointed at moment with plants on sale. Day was redeemed when I spotted some lovely Delphiniums and Salvias just begging to be saved in half price area, all they needed was a bit of TLC and putting straight in. Got them for £1.99 a pot, and they cleaned up lovely this morning, with plenty of new growth. More bargains🤩

Currently got two SILs in hospital, one re admitted as chest infection not sorted. On X-ray she was found to have a broken rib as well🫢 Other SIL fell in her kitchen and broke her hip. Both are not enjoying their stays in different hospitals, I think it’s mainly because they have to do as they are told🤣 Both sets of nieces and nephews run ragged at the moment.

Oĥ dear @Takethedogalong your family are certainly having bad luck healthwise at the moment. Best wishes to everyone.

Another lovely day of weather here. We had a rest from the gardening today to give our backs a rest! So I washed some of the bedding from one of our spare beds and dried it outside. Also the TV in our kitchen (where OH sometimes watched the football 😉) was past it's best and not working properly. I remembered this afternoon that the TV we used to use in the caravan was hiding away on a shelf in eldest son's old bedroom so we fetched in downstairs and got it set up and it now works perfectly. Result.

Love the photo of the red squirrel @RedKite .

Enjoy your few nights away @Wherenext . It certainly looks like the weather is on your side.

    Lovely photo @redkite (android malfunction).

Day out walking and birdwatching. Had a Skylark start up right in front of us. It truly was A Lark Ascending. Absolutely beautiful. Headed to Penrhyn Castle afterwards near Bangor then onto our CL for 2 nights. Tawny Owls currently serenading us. Lovely place. We'll have a walk from site tomorrow.

    Photos when we get home.

@Takethedogalong sorry to hear of the hospitalization of your SILs. Hope they are not in too long. You have certainly been busy in your garden, making the best of this good weather.

Beautiful photo, @RedKite the cameras built into phones these days are top notch for snaps.

Good thinking there @milliehull , extra and unused electrical items often get put away and forgotten about, never to see the light of day again. Glad it is working once more.

Enjoy your nights away, @Wherenext Pleased to read that the CL was a good choice. We too have heard the Skylarks giving it voice.

Following quite a hard frost over night the morning started off bright and sunny, but it slowly clouded up as the day went on. We had the pleasure of company this morning when @richardandros, and the lovely Meg, of course, called round for a coffee. It is always nice to put faces to names and we had a very pleasant chat, getting to know each other. OH and I took Flyte for a walk from the site in the afternoon along a couple of the quiet lanes near the site. Tomorrow we intend going to the seaside!😊

Yes - we spent a lovely couple of hours with @nelliethehookers, yesterday - and their gorgeous spaniel, Flyte who did seem to enjoy Meg's salmon and potato kibble!! Thank you for your kind hospitality. First time I have met anyone on here and it was nice to see that the contributors are actually real people😀

Wow! - I thought we used our van a lot - but these two are something else - more like a walking sites directory!! Is there anywhere in the country you haven't been?

Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in East Yorkshire and wish you well for the remainder of your trip - weather's looking good😃

Hope your SiLs are soon on the mend @Takethedogalong .

Busy week, this week. Off to @Skybarn Farm CL on Thursday - but before that, Drs appt this afternoon for X-ray results, Meg at Groomers on Wednesday and Ros at hairdressers (better not get those mixed up!), van to wash and load up etc etc. All good fun.

    HI

I don't have a spreadsheet but I do have a list which is saved on the computer and printed off, then ticked off as I put things into the van, each time I am, going away. I also have a small list kept in the van of things to do before I leave a site, such as making sure that I unhook the electric, turn the gas off,, make sure the glass cover on the hob is down, all of the doors inside the van and the fridge door are properly shut and if you have steps which are attached to the van, make sure they have been put up.

Opticians for both of us yesterday. How come OH always seems to spend more than me on glasses? My eye test etc took longer than his and by it came to choosing new frames he was there with his chosen ones. Without my guidance!

What a carry on! For some reason, the discussion site would not allow me to post anything without changing my password, but every time I tried to change it, it wouldn't let me. I now appear to have succeeded and a post has appeared from some weeks ago, which I had written in reply to a discussion on lists, but when I deleted it, it kept coming back, so I have had to post it.

Apologies, in advance, should anyone read this!!! You'll all probably think I'm nuts,!! Did someone say spreadsheets.... @vbfg ... ? 🤣🤣....

I do lists, spreadsheets and diaries like they are going out of fashion!!. I organise everything by lists, spreadsheets and diaries. My caravan spreadsheet includes, not only a list of everything we keep in the caravan (and the number of items - and exactly where it is kept... i.e. which cupboard etc), but also a column to say when it was purchased, where from and how much it cost. There are two cost columns (according to category) which are totalled at the bottom and help me determine the caravan insurance at renewal. When we take stuff out of the caravan, I have a 'minus' column and a column where I put where/ why it's been removed and where it's been removed to.... I can then see at a glance what needs to go back...

I think I'd better stop there before the men in white coats come to take me away.... 🤣🤣
