@Wherenext I found that jigsaw in Waitrose of all places! I used only to do them over the Christmas period when I used the motorhome table when not needed in the van. Before we sold the van we were less inclined to go away in the winter so started to do more and now, I suppose, its turned into a bit of a hobby. I belong to a Puzzle Group on Facebook and its interesting to note the different methods used to complete a jigsaw. Some sort the pieces to colour, some to shape. I just tend to plough on. Most people seem to do the edges first. I then tend to make up the easier parts of the puzzle and join them up later. There has been a move by lots of the puzzle makers to reduce the size of the box they come in which I don't like as I like the large base and lid to sort the pieces. I don't mind "difficult" puzzles but not so keen on the impossible. I was once given a double side cat puzzle which completely defeated me!

We have that Shakespeare jigsaw as well, looks a very interesting one👍 Glad you had a good meet up.

We did a swim first today, home for lunch, and then tackled the last two stumps. Lots of tidying to do now, last of cuttings still to gather, mainly from next door. It was a very heavy frost this morning, but had warmed up by time we got out there. Lots of the wood we got out of the hedge is long dead, and is great for stove. Next week will be all about some more normal gardening, and getting to grips with fencing. Hoping BIL will help OH, so I can get on with border prepping. We are both tired tonight, but it’s nice to be working on quite a big project together.

Glad you got back safe and sound and are not too tired out after the walk and clearing out the Van, @Wherenext. It was great meeting up again and we enjoyed the chat last night and the lovely walk this morning. I just wish I could say that I enjoyed an extended sleep but for me needs must during the night!😗

It stayed sunny all day here and we have a clear sky again so it will be another chilly/ frosty night so I will take the pump in before turning in. We had a second short walk this afternoon and made all the main preparations for our next move tomorrow.

@Takethedogalong it has been some job you both have undertaken, removing that hedge. Hopefully with added assistance your OH will be able to complete the task by the weekend.

Very cold morning. Had a visit from the Quality Control Manager from the shower company to check all ok with MiLs new shower. It's already made a big difference to her both physically and mentally.

Had to go to town so called in to book OHs car in for its service next week.

Builders either side of us desperately trying to get some urgent work done before forecasted snow arrives. When there is so much machinery noise going on why on earth do they insist on having music blaring out at the same time?

@Wherenext too dim to consider noise cancelling headphones? It’s one of my teeth gritting irritations as well. It’s seldom that they share my musical tastes, but all and sundry have to listen.

The weather interfered with our plans today. Easterly wind gusting up to 60 mph so had to cancel our trip to Barleywood, what a disappointment. Hopefully we will get away at half term

@Wherenext and @Takethedogalong - I wish I knew the answer to the builder's radio thing. It has to be either DeWalt or Makita radios - if you can call them that - more like mobile discos. Even our gardener (when he comes - which isn't often!), has one in the garden. When we did the major re-build on this house when we moved in 12 years ago - we were 'camping out' in what was virtually, a building site, and we had 7 weeks of having to endure that racket. Even though the builders were friends and we asked them to turn the volume down, it gradually crept up again. It's almost as if they can't work without them!!

Sorry to hear you've had to cancel your trip away @Oneputt . We've had a bitterly cold easterly here today - but just a strong breeze - nothing like what you've experienced. We call the easterly, the 'lazy wind' - because it goes straight through you and not round you.😀

well we are away for our first weekend of the season very cold but sunny so a pleasant tow here. We arrived on site early afternoon and it’s actually very busy considering the time of year. After getting set up we headed out to the Sainsburys up the road to stock up. Back at the van now not much planned tonight just have a few drinks and see what’s on telly.

OP - Hope you can get away soon

Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

That's a shame @Oneputt but better to be safe than sorry. Fingers crossed that you can getaway at half term.

Glad to read that you got home safely, @DSB hope you got a good night's sleep last night.

    Enjoy your trip away @Francis

Very chilly dry day with a stiff wind at times and occasional periods of sunshine. Comfortable drive up to our latest and last site for this trip. Only one other van here, which looks semi permanent. Will hopefully be meeting up with our daughter and SIL tomorrow.

Quite a good day here today we went to the Scottish caravan show not a bad show but £12 to park and not a lot of accessories . Didn’t seem as busy this year wondering if the price is putting people off now. We saw a caravan we liked but decided to take at least another year out of this one as we’ve had it from now and like it. Strangely the club had no stand there this year the first time I ever remember them not being there no idea what the reason for that is but considering that they usually go and are going to the one at the NEC soon I feel like they should have been there . The stand is always good I would like to know the reason for their no show. Back at the van now just had dinner and watching the football now not much else planned tonight just a few drinks in the van it’s cold outside so we have the heating on.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend

@Francis I have seen on Facebook people saying they were also surprised neither of the Clubs were there, especially as they seem to be promoting the show! Perhaps its too expensive for not enough return. I understand several of the big manufacturers did not have a stand?

Yes David we had a good day out but certainly the show is not what it once was it was mostly MHs not many caravans and some of the more well know dealers weren’t there a far cry from days gone by

It has been cloudy and rather chill today. We have not done a lot today as our daughter and SIL came to the caravan bringing lunch, huge pies and even bigger hand-made cakes!! 😊 We have just had a short rain shower but it seems to have passed over. Off home in the morning.

Hope @RedKite hasn't been affected by the recent dreadful incident in her area. Must have come as a great shock.

Quiet last couple of days. There was some snow on Friday night but just sprinkle here and a little bit more higher up the hills. Another cold day in prospect. We'll wrap up warm and head out if it stays dry for a walk later.

Good luck to anyone having medical tests in the near future.

We are not long home after our first weekend away of the season great to be back out again. We were at Strathclyde Park club site which was quite busy considering the time of year. As mentioned in other posts we went to the caravan show yesterday not a bad day out but apart from that just relaxed enjoying being in the caravan again. It’s only been 3 months since we were last away but it’s amazing how the first trip out everything takes longer as things need double checked almost forgot to un plug the hook up cable before hitching up this morning will put that down to a bit of rustiness. Easy one hour tow home today hopefully be away again in a couple of weeks. One good thing about winter caravanning is we can put on our lights at the grab handles lol SWMBO likes them on pic below although it may not be the best quality

DD took the boys to the Caravan Show here today, they like to try out all the caravans, explore the MHs, have a picnic lunch, and try out the climbing wall. It also gave Daddy peace at home to get on with some school related work.

She also commented on the fact that there were far more MHs than caravans this year, fewer dealers, and that the Adria dealer had brought only 2 ( wide and expensive) caravans with them, but lots of MHs.

Pretty dull and cold here today, I have been preparing for my first woodturners meeting of the year, having missed the first one, and the last one of 2024 due to my fall, will be good to meet up with my friends again. On Friday I made a start on installing some new lighting in the study for DD, but had to go back again yesterday to finish it, so nothing much done in our house this weekend, OH’s list of jobs for me is growing!

I expect motorhomes are the future? Caravan sales seem to be falling year on year. When you see new caravans priced at between £35000 and £40000 given that you have to have a fairly expensive car to tow it (if starting out) the difference in price between the two forms of accommodation seem to be narrowing?

A cloudy start to the day but did get glimpses of the sun, although still cold. Steady tow home of under two hours. Van all cleared out and a short walk with Flyte while OH had 2 rounds of washing done and out on the line, before 1:00pm. Clothes all dried well outside in the sunshine and breeze. Appointments this coming week before we head off again, but still nothing booked yet. We did have a delivery of two copies the Site Directory and map!! Just have to update one of the copies, as following a quick look through I see that it certainly isn't as up to date as it should be.

So little activity on this forum. 😢 no breakfast reading! Not posted for a while, as little to report, so guilty myself.....

A cold, wet - with rain currently, dark start to the day - light still needed at 0903 to see to do tidying, let alone close work! Doesn't look inspiring here for the foreseeable forecast. But at least the temperature is a plus, 4c. Daughter in NZ says its still stinking hot at 2030, so I suppose we are equipped to deal with our weather, and sleeping has been difficult lately. It really only turned to summer last week, as the children returned to school for the start of the autumn term.

I actually think I want to follow @nelliethehooker on his travels. He sees a lot of sun, even if some days are only glimpses?

OOnly 'Free' day today so I suppose shopping for fresh goods will solve that after the dog walk.

Whatever you've got planned enjoy your day folks.....

I'm here @Bakers2 , but nothing to report! 🙂 May go out and buy a new,TV for the caravan today. Our current caravan TV is quite old and not 'smart". Also, I've recently notice some 'white shadows' the bottom of the screen so looks like it's on it's way out!! Whilst we were out last week, I managed to get the Avtex caravan internet thingy to work, so a smart tv would give us more options. Perhaps a trip up to Curry's a bit later on...

@DSB We got one of these for our dinning room at home and it would be ideal in a caravan if you didn't need the 12v option.

I am also here @Bakers2. As you say it is grey, wet and dark here. We still have the lights on at mid-day and I think they will stay on all day. However son and grandson from NI are with us this week which is lovely. The family all came round at the weekend so it was great to get everyone together. We are trying to decide what to do with the rest of the day as we were hoping to go out for a walk. I don't think I am as hardy as @nelliethehooker these days and I don't like wet walking!

I'm here. Monday's are busy as I try to get ahead with meals for the week. Plus any emails/paperwork that has arrived over the weekend. All done now - dinner in the oven and three men and a dog will be coming in soon.

Then getting ready for my daughter and husband who are coming up for a few days. A trifle and bread to make.

Just had the plumber come to fit a hand rail in the shower as Margaret struggles a bit without some form of support. Otherwise very wet and dull here.
