@KjellNN yes, I thought Waleswood might be more than you needed. We have been a bit out of things these last couple of years, and prices of course have climbed even more across the whole range of options. We use a lovely CL near Cromford, but it doesn’t have serviced pitches, and might be too tight for your quite large outfit, Splash Farm.

Thinking of Debsc, and thank you Millie. My Aunt is still hanging on bless her.

@Goldie146 thats quite a project, hope things go well👍

I didn’t know they had a site there. Looks like it would OK for us for a few days with walks straight from the site. Bit out of the way otherwise though.

@KjellNN - Nellie has been to the C&CC site at Bakewell so he should be able to give you some advice on access. We have tried at various times to get into the site at Broadmeadow but never succeeded. It would be perfect for us as we often walk in the area, is serviced pitches and not too far off main routes.

MiL had a physio appointment today after we requested one at her GPs towards the end of last year. It transpires that her Stroke led to some Distonia in her left arm which has always bothered her since and now that she has been diagnosed for it and given practical things to do to help we are hoping she'll feel better about it. She was very grateful to the professionalism of the physios. More appointments though.

It's still raw out there. We're hoping to get away tomorrow for a night. Packing the long johns!

Nellie - we have had similar non communication from a couple of CSs so if we don't get one by tonight it looks like an expensive stay at the club site at "Chester" (really Ellesmere port but Chester sounds posher!)

The CCC site at Bakewell would be a good one for you Wherenext as you would not have any access problems.

After much discussion and indecision, we have ruled out CCC Bakewell, and also for this trip Broadmeadow, as our van is poorly insulated and weather may not be great, but it is one to try in the warmer months.

Instead we are staying with serviced pitches and easier access by moving further south to Heritage Wood CL, on the road from Ashbourne to Derby. If the weather is good we can always make a day trip north.

Now trying to contact our friend in Ruthin to make sure he will be home before we book our next site.

The fitting of the splashbacks is progressing, but there are a few problems. The panels have to be slid into place between horizontal support rails, and although there is just enough length beyond the rails to thread in the second panel, I will have to remove the kitchen door and, it seems the door facing, as the panels do not bend much, in fact really not at all.

OH wanted the join in the panels to line up with the cupboard doors, so the second panel to go in is longer than the first. If I was allowed to have one full length piece and then a shorter piece, the door would not need to come off, but the facing still would. Just hope it comes off without cracking as it is made of mahogany and that is not easy to get these days. I may have some spare, but the colouring would not match the one that has been in place for 37 years.

There will be the same problem with the other wall with enough space to slide in the second panel, so I think OH will have to accept that the join there will not line up with the cupboards, but she is not going to be very happy about that!

Hi have not been on here for awhile but thought folks might like to see what happened to a motorhome in Northern Brittany this week nobody was injured and when the Gendarmes arrived nobody in it so they managed to contact to find out if all ok.

Hope all folks that are having medical procedures are going to have all go to plan my best wishes for you.

Did a skip run this pm with old car batteries and other bits and pieces and the local authority are changing to a new system from April so we will either have a QR code on the phone or a piece of paper with it on so you can present it to the new barrier system now being installed lets see how that goes.

@Wherenext still not heard much more re what happened the other week very sad.

Weather has been mixed but it has got warmer in the last few days.

@KjellNN I thought about suggesting the C&CC's Bakewell site but didn't because of the tight access for large units, although there were a few big ones on when we were last there.

@Wherenext still no word from that CS we tried but have also had rapid responses from a couple of others, but neither could fit us in when we wanted. However we have had near instant replies for 3 other CLs last evening and today, including Barleywood, all of which have pitches available, so that's the first half of our next trip booked!!😀😀 Enjoy you nights away and fingers crossed that it warms up a fair bit.

That's a very clever bit of acrobatics, @RedKite wonder how they managed if?

@DSB enjoy your stay at Moreton, easy walk from the Site into the village, which has, or used to have, a good midweek market.

@SteveL the Bakewell site is grand for walking from, with direct access onto a number of footpaths, although some are a bit hilly. We had thought of stopping off there on our way home from our next trip but it doesn't open until 11th April and we have to be home just after then.

It has been another chilly but sunny day, although there were a few flecks of snow drifting across this morning during our walk with Flyte. Not done much apart from sorting out sites, but making progress, thankfully.

Fitting the splashback panels, only one wall so far, went better than expected. I did have to remove the kitchen door, and then there was only just enough length to feed the second panel into the support rails. We are using the Lysekil panels from Ikea, the stainless steel effect ones. I managed to carefully prise off the mahogany door facing without damage and then it was simple to feed the panel into place. The door is now rehung, with some steadying help from OH, it was rather heavy as it is a 15 panel bevelled glass door…..very solid! Fortunately, having had to fit several new doors for DD, I had purchased an inflatable door lifter a while back, which was a great help.

The door facing is still to be re-fitted, that will be tomorrow. We also accurately measured the free space on the other wall for sliding in the other panels, and OH was very pleased to discover that there is just enough space to have the panels the correct size for the join to line up with the centre of the cupboards.

Our friend in Ruthin has confirmed he will be home when we had hoped to visit, so now we can book our usual CL, which requires a phone call. Then we have time for one more stop on the way home, location still under discussion.

Looking at a photo of a similar setup - it's very scary! Currently all the kit is wrapped and wrapped again, in black plastic. One of our cats is not impressed - it's in a shed he used to sleep in.

Another frustrating day as far as Margaret's hip is concerned. Back to the Saxon Clinic, this time to see the Cardiologist. Another ECG done but he wants more tests so further delay. One imagines they same thing would happen within the NHS but with longer delays.

So sorry to read this @DavidKlyne. Carol is also getting delays… consultant wants another X-ray - then has to look at it, then ring her up and discuss the results. In the meantime she has been given a TENS machine - I don't think it's marvellous, but it is having some effect… !! Hope they sort out Margaret soon.

Also thinking about @DEBSC this week too…

Sorry to hear of further delays before the start of Margaret's operation @DavidKlyne and the same applies to you @DSB with regards to Carol. It is no wonder that there is such a long waiting time for operations on the NHS if every patient has to go through a similar number of examinations and tests.

Fingers crossed that all had gone well for @DEBSC, thinking of you if you are up to looking in on here.

Another two sites booked today, and now waiting for a response to another email before booking the last site on the forthcoming trip.

@DavidKlyne I'm really sorry to read about the further delay to Margaret's operation, it must be so upsetting and frustrating. I hope the problems encountered are sorted soon and the operation can go ahead. Yes, I suspect you're right, if this hadn't been done privately, the wait could have been longer still.

@DSB I'm sorry to read about Carol's delay too, it's not just the waiting, it's the fact that the problem isn't being dealt with in the meantime. I hope the TENS machine does some good for her.

@DEBSC Thinking about you too, I hope everything went well on Monday.

Thanks @InaD . The TENS machine seems to be helping a little... apparently the difficult thing is getting the pads in the right position...

A little more of a dull day here at Moreton-in-Marsh. Site is very full.... (Haven't ventured out yet - photo taken from inside the 'van... 🙂)

Sorry to hear medical issues re awaiting ops not good and hope further checks can soon be sorted.

Looks busy at Moreton DSB but is half term and the show at NEC.

Just asking advice as how to stay on club together after cancelling membership as we no longer tour in UK with the caravan help would be much appreciated as I know some folks are still on here and not members any more.

So sorry to hear of your problems over your OH's hip operations both @DavidKlyne and @DSB especially as they are both in a lot of pain. All the tests and delays must be so frustrating. Hope they get sorted soon.

Also thinking of @DEBSC and hope things are going according to plan.

@RedKite You should simply stay on the forum as Redkite, in the same way as I stayed, but with a change in status. On the previous version of CT it could take 4-6 weeks to become approved (despite the banners saying otherwise) because you effectively become a newbie but Rowena was able to obtain quicker approval. I assume the new CT is the same.

Many thanks folks for your replies will contact Rowena tomorrow as she is at NEC at present.

A lovely day here and sunny and quite warm and a nice breeze for washing to dry.

Just put together yet another compost bin we get from local skip area and it is made very well and made from recycled plastic now got 4 and 1 from Lidl's many years ago so that should be enough now.

Congratulations @milliehull. Wow, 59 years. Did OH have to ask your father for your hand in marriage? Funny saying that. What about the rest of the body? I found out some time after our wedding day that Father-in-Law did ask Mrs.WN on the morning of the wedding whether she was sure she wanted to go ahead with it and that he wouldn't be upset if she said no! I didn't know whether it was because he didn't think I was good enough (which brides father doesn't think that?) or whether he was going to miss having her around the house?

We had a lovely day out yesterday, visiting Speke Hall NT, situated right next to Liverpool Airport. The Hall itself is not yet open for the season but it made for a pleasant walk. Plenty of people there with children due to half term. It is more of a suburban NT place than most. A couple of photos, one of the Hall and another of a beautiful bunch of Winter Aconite on display.

After that we drove about 10 minutes further into Liverpool to visit Sudley House. Owned by a wealthy merchant but donated to Liverpool Corporation by his daughter. He acquired an excellent Painting collection with various Turners, Rossettis, Dante etc along with tasteful furniture. As its owned and run by the Corporation entry was free as are most of their museums. There was a rather glorious fireplace with Pre-Raphaelite glazed tiles. If you are interested in that type of thing its worth a visit if you happen to be anywhere in the area. A large area for dog walking adjacent.

Sorry to read of more tests for Margaret @DavidKlyne . I think heart bypass causes extra investigation and it won't be helped by diabetes.

OH had to wait for a year for dental work, due to bypass and ICD fitted. No one would take it on privately, so we had to wait for NHS wheels to grind. When it was done, luckily very well, by a trainee...... The bit we needed hospital go do, not teeth removal. Wasn't done because OH couldn't instantly produce info - I'd left by then otherwise things may have been different 🤐 because surgeon wanted to speak with Papworth. We're still waiting! We're at the dentist tomorrow so discussions will start again....

Similar for @DSB but not for the same reasons. I believe TENS machines are highly recommended, hopefully practise will help.

Hope things went well for @DEBSC .

Another good frost here today, but the air feels spring like, odd busts of sun, but had some rain. More forecast..…

Congratulations @milliehull. You picked a good 'un or you've got fantastic staying power! However you spend it, enjoy your day.

Sorry to hear about health delays, and hope things move forwards as quickly as possible, I too was thinking of Debsc. Quite a project Goldie, as you say daunting, but Farmers are the most resourceful folks around, so good luck.

@RedKite I contacted Rowena when we became non Members, she sorted things out very quickly, but as you say, busy this week.

@Wherenext that looks a very interesting visit, I like Pre Raphaelite stuff, and that is a wonderful fireplace. Hope you had a nice night away.

@milliehull many congratulation to you both, a wonderful milestone🥳

Hope others away have a nice time👍

Busy day for us here, fence panels going in. We managed three, with me digging over border as OH did the preparation for fencing. Giving the border a really good clean out near fence, bought a weed burner as well to zap anything that comes through. Couple of weeks, and I can start putting back some of plants taken out, and filling some gaps. A big project, but we are enjoying doing things ourselves, working together.

Congratulations to you both @milliehull from me too, hope you had a lovely day, and many more anniversaries too.

Those are not places we have visited @Wherenext so will have them to add them for a future occasion. Grand photos too. Glad you had a good day out.

You are certainly putting some work in on that garden, tda. I'm sure it will be all worth it when completed.

A mixed day with the weather here, mainly dry but with a couple of short periods of rain. Nearly completed all the bookings for our trip, with another prompt reply from the latest CL owner.
