All the very best wishes for your bithday, @Goldie146 have a lovely day.

Millie and tda, thanks, we too like Arts and Crafts properties. Have either of you visited Hill House at Helensborough? It was his property and definitely worth a visit. @Takethedogalong your handiwork looking good and festive. ( How there's a thing, I was not able to get either of you names to appear after the @ symbol at the start of this sentence, but by highlighting @Bakers2 comment and copying it I was able to post my third sentence!)

@DSB grand to see a full house for your concert and all went well.

It has been a mainly dry day and we had a good walk around Corner Wood, part of the NT's Duncombe House Estate, along the Xmas Tree trail. After lunch we had to go shopping and it was so busy that we had to queue to get into Aldi carpark. Later in the afternoon I took a walk along to Claverley's All Saint's church. This has a splendid set of wall paintings, done around 1220, as well as 2 Elizabethan memorials to members of the Gatacre family and an unusual Alabaster tomb with 3 recumbent effigies, of Sir Robert Broke and his 2 wives. The church is well worth but needs a sunny day to fully appreciate it.

Deer & Decorated tree on the walk.

The best pictures I could get in the church

@Wherenext oooooh…Betty Berkins🤩 I think that might be where we met up last December? Yummy.

Apologies to those who I haven’t got round to emailing lately, but it’s been a bit busy here these last few weeks. Happy birthday to Goldie. Lovely church photo, and great to see such a big turnout for the concert.

I have managed a couple of really nice sessions in our garden, mainly grubbing around in borders and flower beds, hand clearing leaves, old growth and getting rid of a few weeds. Lots of bulbs already showing, and we have a couple of hellebores about to burst into flower. I like this time of year for gardening. Need to do a bit more foraging around our local woods for some evergreen growth for a couple of wreath garlands. Cheney so and so’s at our local garden centre wanted £12 a branch for cut Xmas trees. I am wanting a small tree in a pot with good roots to put into garden to put some lights on.

Margaret is cooking hams today, one for us and one for eldest son. Youngest son does his own! She likes to boil them before roasting and the result is always excellent. Only trouble is that they are slightly larger than we really need.

Sounds wonderful @DavidKlyne ..... as regards the 'slightly larger than we really need'.... I think that's what most of us do around Christmas time... I always eat slightly more than I actually need, and suspect I'm probably not the only one!! 😀

Off to take the MIL for her usual weekly visit to Costa. She loves the afternoon out. At 92, she can't get out on her own...

We always buy our Christmas hams in Tesco and for some reason they didn't have the usual selection of sizes at the branch we visited so we probably decided to go larger than smaller than usual. Both have been boiled and one fully roasted and the second one is in the oven now. Honey and brown sugar glaze.

We are now home from visiting the family in N Ireland. We had such a lovely but vey busy time. The weather was fine and no rain until our last day (very unusual for NI!) so we got out for a few (shortish) walks and OH managed surprisingly well. The countryside round theirs is so beautiful for walks. We also had a family outing to see the new Paddington movie - great fun - and also took them out for a meal to celebrate Christmas with them. I booked Airport Assistance when I booked the flights and they were excellent especially as they coped with the luggage. It all made the journey much easier.

I will attach a photo of Annesley Castle where DIL's gt grandma worked as a servant many years ago. It is now a conference centre. Also some views from Son's house in Strangford and the local countryside.

OH used to cook a ham every Christmas but sadly he isn't up to it now so the younger generation have taken up the baton

It looks like we are going to have a lovely sunset this evening.

Sorry the photos have come up in the wrong order!

Glad to hear you're home safe and sound @milliehull. Well done Mr.M.

Birthday greetings to @Goldie146. Anyone cooking for you tonight/today or treating you to a meal out maybe?

Miserable day weather wise here with frequent heavy showers and a blustery wind, cold as well. Not a great happening except the click-click of knitting needles.😂

Three cakes iced today, ours, Sons and Daughters. But can I find the cake decorations that I bought back in October, no of course not! I’ve put them up somewhere but??? Granddaughter mentioned yesterday that she and her boyfriend preferred ham to turkey so I picked one up in Tesco today. I’ll cook it in the slow cooker on Monday and then roast it off in the oven. I’m taking the cooked meat when we go to our daughters on Boxing Day. Turkey, ham and a quorn roast for the veggies. Tesco was fine today, busy as expected, but plenty of tills open so no queues. Then to Iceland to get puds for the freezer, that was fine as well in fact quite quiet. However, getting out of the car park was a nightmare. 25 minute queue to travel a few yards. Small road and slow traffic lights, then they built an Asda, more shops and then houses, all exiting small road. Makes me wonder about the planners.

Thank you for the Birthday wishes. We went out for lunch, and a very good one it was. (The Plough at Lupton - a couple of miles off J36 of the M6).

We didn’t need anything else to eat today, so I’ve had a lazy day.

Onwards and upwards now as I start preparing in earnest for Christmas.

The weather has been rather mixed today, dull when we got up but dry and it brightened up before we set off to our latest site. It was still dry when we got to the site but we have had some rain and a strong breeze this evening. We are on another new to us CL just south of Nantwich, one that i have had in mind for a visit some time. I took a walk in the late afternoon to thereby village where there is the "Leaning Tower of Cheshire", all that remains of St Chad's Church.

I had posted a photo of St Chad's Tower but when I tried to edit my post it appears to have disappeared. So here we go again.

To show you one of my best sights from yesterday. Breakfast in Weatherspoon's in the Metro Centre, for some reason 50p cheaper than any other local 'spoons! Under £8 and £1.59 for a refillable hot drink. There was a queue for it opening as well.

Just catching up😁 We had a really good evening out last night, Uni of Sheffield Octagon Building, couple of local live bands. First one was a Bowie tribute act, and very good they were. Main course was a local band called the Everly Pregnant Brothers, local South Yorks based group, who specialise in writing local inspired lyrics to big hits music. Very very funny, laugh out loud stuff, some bad language otherwise I’d post a sample on here, but as a Christmas week night out, a great singalong and laugh.

Special guest for the night, the small chap in the fleece top……can anyone tell who it is? He went down really well, good fun.

I meant to post this yesterday. There was a pile of Birthday presents on the table when I got up. Waiting for me to open. Can you guess which one was from my husband?

@Goldie146 I am going to guess…………🤔………..the one on the right in the minimalist wrapping🤣

Forgot to mention the drummer with the EPB’s last night. He was slumming it from his day job. Nick Banks, drummer with Pulp, he’s also the nephew of Sir Gordon Banks. And very good👏👏

A little renovation project ongoing for me today. I found our old Drizabone Stockman Riding Coats hung up while searching for something else🤩 Yesterday, I set to and cleaned off a bit of the dusty mould that you often get on waxed jackets that have been in storage. It came off easily with a bit of white vinegar/water, rinsed clean, left to dry. Today I have commenced re waxing them, which is a slow but satisfying task if done properly. Half way through first jacket, and after using hairdryer to fix the wax, it’s going to come up like brand new, so really pleased with results. I like a waxed coat, great for wet Winters, but you do need a jumper underneath for warmth. Both jackets were bought back in the late 1980’s, so they owe us nothing.

Today has been about the poorest of this trip with regards to weather, what with high winds and intermittent heavy showers. Thankfully we have been able to fit in our walks with Flyte without getting very wet. Drove into Northwich to do a little shopping and had a wander around the park, after getting some washing done, and left drying in the van.

This is our neighbour's unit on the CL where we are staying!!

@nelliethehooker now that’s what I call an interesting outfit🤩 Looks capable of tackling some more robust terrain, and might not be too bothered if a hardstanding pitch isn’t available. Ok in the really wet as well with that snorkel 🤣 I am not sure what it is, but OH will be interested.

It’s Phil Daniels by the way. He of Quadrophenia fame.

@nelliethehooker OH is wondering if the base vehicle is an Iveco. I bet it is either Dutch or German owned?
