Has anyone come across a way of deleting the Notifications that have been read?

@Wherenext I think that the question has been asked in a previous post, but as usual there has been no response from th powers that be. Perhaps they don't know as they gave no consideration to it when re(de)vising the system.

Not as far as I know. I mark them as read and then let them go as they’re no bother.

I have not found a way to do it. All the "mark all read" seems to do is to remove the little red dot. Other wise they remain until they drop off the end when the maximum number that can be displayed is reached. I have never seen a page 2 of notifications?

At least you seem to be getting notifications. I just get loads of enails.... I quickly read and reply or delete. I've never had 'notifications', unless I've got hunderds of them lurking somewhere and have not yet found them....

No idea where to start looking for them.....

No idea where to start looking for them.....

@DSB I just touch on the bell (top right of the menu bar) and a list appears that I can scroll through. The number of new notifications appears alongside it, if there are any.

@DSB notifications appear via the bell. A red dot indicates you have one/some.

It depends on your selected preferences whether you get notifications, emails, both or neither. Personally, I don’t want my email box cluttered up with them so opt for notifications.

Thanks for your help with this @Tinwheeler and @SteveL. I'm using Samsung mobile, so mine looks different.....

In order to access the Menus, I have to click on the 3 horizontal lines (top left of my screen

    .........and I get this......

....otherwise, I don't get Home, Discussions, Categories etc across the top of my page (wherever page I'mvon....... and certainly no bell.... From what you have all been saying, I'll take that as a good thing....🤣🤣

On the other hand, I wonder if it might be something to do with the fact that I have 'notifications' and 'email' ticked in each case. I wonder if email might 'override' notifications...??

Actually, I prefer email.... When I get an email, I can actually read the contents of the post without loading CT, then I can make the decision whether I need to reply to it. I get lots of emails, many of which I need to reply to, so it just 'goes into the mix'....

Looks as if I may need to go on the laptop to find the 'bell'..... or perhaps I'll leave well alone.... 🤣🤣🤣

@DSB Mine looks different on my iPhone but if I tap my avatar top right, it opens to reveal the bell and envelope icons.

My old thread about Small Private Sites has made the jump to the new forum, so that would be fine to add photos on.

@Rowena can you please explain why some posters are labelled as "club members" and others as "forum participants"? Is it just to signify who are non-members, because surely we are all "forum participants"?

Also what is the "" Best of" link for, as I can't find an explanation, or, for that matter, what the symbols against each person are supposed to signify?

I was a Club Member during the trial Nellie, but now a Forum Participant as our Membership has lapsed. I think someone on the trial wondered if there was going to be any difference indicated. So I think it will relate to Member/non member.

@Rowena I have not seen a response to the above. Would it be better to start a thread just for site photos in the Photography on Tour group?

As you can see, I'm having similar problems to Bakers2 in an earlier post on this page. I can't get the @ function to work either, don't even get the list with users up at all (I did at first).

I only typed the @RRowena once, but for some reason a whole string of letters appeared. I've tried to delete and start again, but it doesn't work.

@Tinwheeler how does one report a post? Is that what the "flag" symbol is for. I am asking you as there seems to be very few responses to posts asking @Rowena a question, or perhaps it's just me.

@InaD I find it you slow down typing each letter after the @ symbol the system seems to work, at least it does for me!

It’s the bottom report flag, Nellie. I’ve no idea what the others are for.

Thanks @Tinwheeler I harden tried that one, it's all a learning curve for me. I still can't find how to convert a word to bold print as those symbols you pictured previously don't appear on my kindle!

Can’t help you there, Nellie. It would seem to be something to do with the compatibility of your device 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks @nelliethehooker, I have tried typing slow and fast, it doesn'd oesn'tseem to make any difference. I also have great difficulty typing anything without letters randomly repeating. Have to constantly delete and start again.

I have just attempted to delete one of my own posts, ( the post about Henley and Cholsey Grange) but I could not find a delete button function.

I did find the edit (one hour) facility but that is all.Can anyone assist?

I think I've done it for you @Fozzie.... (just check for me)... I think it might just be a 'moderator function'....
