    I've not counted PD but it a few (depending on your definition of few I suppose) compared to many, or more than those that do have this problem, but like I said I hope it gets fixed.

    I've done a rough count, it's 4 maybe 5 posters who seem to be having this problem, that's a few to me?

    @Goldie146 OH’s old iPad mini running iOS 12.5.7 is exactly the same. Therefore as you say, it seems not capable of running the new CT software. Several other things that previously worked have also dropped off recently. Time for a new one I think.

    ok on my iPad but it is running on 18.1.1 So I guess this may well be the problem

    @Cornersteady I too have a similar problem but for some reason am able to get round it at times.It may well be that there are only a relatively few who appear to be getting the problem but that could well be because others that are in a similar situations just don't bother posting their comments, and perhaps have ditch CT completely, as there are definitely fewer posting than were before the system changed.

    so we have a “new” forum , but with the size of the club membership I’m surprised how few members post on CT

    You don’t post very often these days @huskydog. Might we see more of you on the new forum?

    @nelliethehooker

    I don't think this one simple 'problem' would be putting anyone off posting? After all why not just post and not use it? Is it that important? Not to me but perhaps to others.

    Are there fewer than before? I can't see less posting than just before the older version finally went but there are definitely many more posting who don't experience this 'problem' than those that do, and it certainly hasn't put those that do from posting anyway.

    CT is a new piece of 'software' and perhaps as with all new things in computing it requires devices and their operating systems to be relatively 'new' as well. I don't expect my older computers/OS to support the latest software.

    @huskydog That could easily have been said, as indeed was true, of the old version, as well HD. People join the club to access club sites and other services like CLs and why that should translate into wanting to use this forum is not clear to me? I use and buy many products that have their own forums but I don't use them?

    Anyway as been posted in the past not every club member uses just club sites, so why be interested in this forum?

    But thinking about it I've seen many new posters that I hadn't seen before on the older version.

    I've just looked at first two pages of recent activity and I've counted 10 posters that started a thread that I don't recognise from the old version.

    no you won’t , too one sided , just like the old one , and I was surprised I was allowed to post

    @nelliethehooker, as you know, I have problems and you're right, the problems have put me off posting, other than on this thread. It wouldn't surprise me if others were put off as well. By some miracle I was able to delete the duplicate letters in this post, maybe things are looking up 😁

    Don't really know the answer @InaD, but your latest post seems to have come out OK without repeated letters etc.... perhaps it's been fixed or perhaps just a lucky post.... I did notice that your tag of nellietheh... didn't come out in red....

    ....with regard to the number of folk who post: I've not noticed a massive / sudden change - however, I do think there are generally less people posting on forums than there used to be some years ago. Facebook tends to be popular, but I even wonder if this is 'age-related'.... or perhaps it's my age....? I get the impression that the younger age range (pre-20s???), tend to use other forms of social media e.g. WhatsApp, Snapchat..? Each is different in it's own way. I get the impression that Twitter/X, isn't doing as well these day... the new Bluesky seems to be gaining support.

    My impression is that CT is holding it's own.... I don't know how other forums are doing... I just don't have the time to visit them. Years ago (before CT), I used to post quite a bit on UKCampsite.co.uk, but rarely go there these days... I'm still visiting them occasionally for site ideas and reviews.... and this time of year to enter there daily Advent calendar draw to win 'camping/caravanning goodies'.... 😀😀

    @DSB Wow, what happened there?

    I decided not to use your quote and start my post with the @ symbol. It didn't go smoothly though, every time I typed the letter D, another D appeared, so the list of names I got all started with double D. Even deleting it and starting again didn't help at first. Had to try about 5 times, but perseverence paid off.

    So, possibly using a quote, then using the @ sign is the problem. Using it just now in the middle of the sentence also gave me problems, in that the text I typed after it appeared right at the top of the post for some reason!

    I’ve done both in the same post several times @InaD with no problems🤷🏻‍♂️

    Still trying to think it through, but it seems better, @InaD. I wonder if it's got anything to do with the keyboard sensitivity on your device. Do you ever get anything like this elsewhere other than CT?? When I post, I frequently have to correct typos, but I know that is 'miss typing' due to the size of my fingers.

    @InaD

    Like @Tinwheeler no problems using either before a quote or in the middle of a sentence. Just done it now @InaD and in fact I've been doing that quite a bit after a quote this morning.

    I can only think it must be device and/or OS/or age related.

    @InaD : If it is to do with keyboard sensitivity, I wonder whether it might be an idea to check out the following.... just found it on youtube...

    I'm afraid it all a bit guesswork, but it might help....

    @DSB this took about 5 attempts; no, I don't have any problems on any other sites at all, and never have had. I'm using a tablet, not a phone, Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite, Android version 13, using Firefox.

    I had a look at the video re sensitivity, but there doesn't seem to be such a feature on this tablet. Thank you for your input, anything is worth a try.

    @Tinwheeler I suspect it's device related, or as you say, browser related. It seems better today, but the @ symbol definitely causes problems for me. I tried to add @Cornersteady after your username but gave up. Each time I input the @ plus the letter C, it puts 2 letters C in, deleting one and putting the letter o after the C resulted in @CoCoCo, so I gave up on that, but my reply is to both of you and thanks for your input.

    At least I can now post without those repeated letters ad infinitum, long may it last!

    @Rowena I have noticed that there is no notification of any posts made in any of the Group posts in the "Recent Disussion" listings. Can this be rectified or at least provide some way of showing that there are new posts in the "Group" section so that we don't have to trawl through each one to see if there are any new posts?

    just going to test a few things to see what I get using the @ sign. All on an iPad, Safari 15.8.

    @InaD this worked fine. Typed in @ box of names came up put in first few letters, no capitals used.

    @InaD trying after quoting. First time @ used I got no box, but second attempt fine.

    Going to try using the @ sign over the Type instruction on next post, see if this is ok.

    @Bakers2 fine, came up with names box straight after I put @ in. @Takethedogalong this took three attempts to bring the box of names up, but worked when I had the Caps tab on.

    @Takethedogalong @Takethedogalong I can double the names as well, but the second needed the Caps tab on my keyboard.

    @DSB six attempts to get the names box to appear lower down the post.

    It does seem very inconsistent at times. The only thing that I don’t get is the repeat of letters, text stammering. I wonder if that might be how sensitive your touch screen is🤔

    @DSB and @Takethedogalong I'm testing too and so far all is well but @Takethedogalong I'm running my iPad on Safari 18.1.1 which is the latest updated version of the software.

    So @Bakers2 I'm still thinking this is device/browser/software related.

    My apology for all the @'s but this is my test which has revealed no double letters or repeated words and the @ worked exactly as it should each time.

    and I forgot @InaD which worked even with the caps tab engaged

    🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

    @Tinwheeler To date when I have used the @ command I have had no issues. Today both on this and another post it has taken several attempts. Perhaps in an effort to sort it out on other platforms they are causing issues for iOS users. I am using Safari with the same version of the operating system as yourself.
