It is a bit of a nostalgiafest to have a wander around your old school, and/or meet old school contempories, which is one of the reasons that I am not a huge fan of children being schooled at home. I still see some of my former classmates or school friends when I am out and about and children who are home schooled will not be able to do that, if they still live in the area where they went to school.

Hi bakers2 just see your post and on the other thread not checked all the things on here.

No storm bert but we have got very strong winds and we are very open to the elements here and I do not like strong winds usually end up with a headache and we are off to friends for lunch as 1 had a birthday yesterday, no damage thankfully but will see what the roads are like.

Feel sorry for folks in South Wales and the flooding in other areas.

Do not know that site DSB with that tall hedge by your caravan.

    Keep safe folks.

I have just checked our back garden and most of the leaves have gone from there as well - even our Rowan tree which has now lost all of it's leaves has sent them elsewhere😊

I feel so sorry for the people of Pontypridd. Our daughter was at the Polytechnic College there many years ago. I can't believe the devastation.

Very mixed weather here today, sun, rain, more sun, but now lashing rain and strong wind. Managed to nip out for some milk for breakfast before the rain arrived.

DD has sold another 5 spurtles, at this rate I will need to make even more, made 10 yesterday but no idea at the moment of how many she still has “in stock”. Cannot ask right now as she is at the High Court in Glasgow on her second week of jury duty. She has been told she will be needed at least right up till Christmas.

We had more rain overnight and some heavy showers with hail in them this morning, but we were able to get our walks and packed up without getting wet. We had more very heavy rain until we got onto the M6 but thankfully it brighten up as we headed south. Comfortable for tow down to the C&CC's Delamere site, which is very quiet with under 20 units pitched up. We luckily spotted this impressive carving during our afternoon walk as it was not plainly obvious.

@DSB enjoy your stay at the Lickpenny site. That looks like a great hot chocolate, not something I particularly like but think I would enjoy that one!😁

@nelliethehooker Yours seems to be the first post on the forum since late afternoon! But more interesting is how you have managed to get the picture on the left of your post and the text on the right, I quite liked that. Did it just happen?

@DavidKlyne I loaded the photo full size and then reduced it to the small image, as per the instructions in the guide, where it allows one to align the photo to L, R or centre. I then added the description, took it down to the bottom of the photo and finally entered the text back at the top. I was experimenting really, as I thought I would be able to add text before it, but to no avail. I then tried to save the photo, with the single description to draft and write a separate summery of our day on another post before submitting the draft, completed, as a separate posting but the system would not let me, hence the reason I had to type it next to the photo. Hope this is understandable!!😄

I've Type.never , that's the 3rd time type has appeared, not typed by me 🤣

I've never been asked to change a photo. Just click on the Mountain icon, add photo and that's it!

I love the carving, and the photo position.

it's been incredibly quiet on this forum since the initial fluffy.

Been a fabulous day here, chilly but my washing dried really well.

Been to the dentist, I've had an iffy tooth for years. General concensus is its cracked. Been OK with sensitive toothpaste. II've Been aware of it of late, that's the only time I remember. X-ray showing roots too, no signs of decay or aabcess but seems to have tilted a bit, drastic action, to have it capped but suggestion to have a little taken off it to level it up. Opted for the latter, way go drastic? So far so good, 🤞.

spent the afternoon working on latest grandson's advent calendar. All pockets added now, next session is to attach the back and tun

    thought the above llost

it's all reacting very strangely tonight. Lack of capitals, hard to place cursor to correct spelling. Predictive text not cancelling incorrect spelling without manual help.

Just got to add the backing and turn advent calendar. These heirlooms are priceless. I've always thought sewing bee is incredibly tight on time and doing this confirms it. I won't be applyapplying!

Curious……. I've left the errors in for reference.

I wished I could add photos as easily. The photos on my phone must be very large. I still have to resize them, or else they just come up as the red file name. In order to see it you have to click on the file name or the space below where the photo should be..... e.g.

Should anyone see this without having to click on the red file name or the space below, do let me know...

    @DSB

I had to click on the link and it very slowly revealed itself, coyly and teasingly, line by line 🫣😉

My photos are from my phone, no faffing like the old days.

It was hard to get the @ feature to work but got there in the end.

My photos are also from my phone, @Bakers2, but they appear to be quite large..... the one above is about 47MB..... If I reduce it to around 2MB it comes come up properly on CT. It just means I end up by having two photos the same on my phone.... the original one and the redu ed one.... I must try and work out the maximum size for it to post properly.....

Not had a problem with the @name tag...

@DSB thats how I had to reduce photos on the old CT. Used a photo app, which then left me with a reduced photo on phone which I could post. Periodically I would delete them off my iPhone.

@Bakers2 I have always had a little black icon, (reverse p with a black line) outside the posting box, but never the blue cursor. The red dot with cross has always been there as well. It’s a shortcut to starting a new discussion on whatever section you are in, plus some other things I’ve yet to try

@DavidKlyne when you have loaded your photo, a small box with four icons should appear at the top of your photo. You can use these to resize your photo, and where to align it on the page. Can’t remember what the other two icons are for🤣 but they are there👍

Name tag working fine for me.

I know what you mean @Takethedogalong. I've tended to keep the reduced photos..... on the basis that as soon as I delete the reduced one, you can bet I'd need it again.... 🤣🤣🤣

@DSB I am now on my PC and your photo came up without me having to click on the red file name. However I had already accessed it via the red file name on my phone so perhaps that's why?

@nelliethehooker On my phone your photo came up with the text underneath but now on my PC the text has come up at the side of the photo.

Lovely bright sunny morning here but a tad on the chilly side.

I never load a photo directly from the originating device, I always save to my computer. There is also a degree of editing on the photo to either crop it or reduce the pixel size. The photo below was uploaded full size from my computer but I used the tools to reduce to medium.

Thanks for letting me know @milliehull. Perhaps it's 'device related'?? I tend only to use my phone for CT these days. Looks like I'll need to do a bit more 'digging' as to what is going on.....

Oops, sorry, I posted the how to do things bit in the wrong thread🤭

Going back to schools, I loved my time at secondary school. It was an all girls High School, and it was as close to St Trinian’s as you might have got in the 1970’s🤣 Strict uniform code that we “modified” ultra short mini skirts, ties used as belts, berets and little hats we called p*ss pots. Some staff still wore the cloaks, the Bogs had a horrible smokers corner, and we played some awful tricks on some of the staff. Piece de resistance was a pair of kippers tied to hang behind one of the radiators in the Maths room, (no one liked her🤭) boy did they stink for a while, until found. Proper old science labs, every gas tap was lethal, but no one ever got hurt. Chemistry Lab was my Form room for two years. Woe betide if you got sent out of a class for misbehaving, you had to find somewhere to hide in case the Dep Head was on the prowl, she was a proper tartar. If you were good at sport though (which I was) you got a few privileges. I didn’t like Music, so I used to sign in, then go out a window for another PE lesson. Staff knew what was going on, but turned a blind eye. I’m sure others went the other way🤣Boys, little ones, arrived in my 4th year to the utter disgust of the 4th and 5th formers. With them arrived some very young straight out of teaching college male teachers……poor things didn’t know what hit them🤣🤣 The Headmistress’s dog William (hairy mongrel) and the PETeacher’s Jack Russell Henry (wicked little ratter) both had a walkies rota that we used to queue up to be on. Big trouble mind when we broke into the very old, and long disused Air Raid shelters still in the grounds. It was an adventure to us, but must have been worrying to staff. Our sports teams, hockey, netball, tennis, athletics, etc… were renowned for a high standard, and amidst all the misbehaving, the school was a top performer in terms of the old GCE’s, we had some very very good teachers. OH’s sister was a couple of years above me, and eventually, long after my time, two of his elder brothers ended up working there, so we have family ties to the school as well. It was OH’s oldest brother that passed away while still working there, hence the reunion and memorial last week. Some of the teachers from my time I have since met up with have said they expected me to roll in as PE staff at some point (all my exam choices were geared to this) but I took a slightly different path. Happy days……

Thanks @DavidKlyne. I usually add photos straight from my pbone, but everything from my phone, tablet and laptop gets saved to Google Drive. However, certain documents sync with all three devices so I always have the most recent version on whichever device I use.

@DSB your photo size is huge, just checked this one. 3.6mb from my phone, which is old and doesn't have a fab camera as I found out when the northern lights appeared..a neighbour snapped them whilst I saw nothing g through my phone at the same time!

    @nelliethehooker

your photo was at the side on my tablet, but underneath the text on my phone. Just checked my tablet and refreshed, still on the left hand side of text..Must be device related.

@RedKite do you think that's like a personal message system?

Fabulously beautiful morning here. Bit chilly but bright - I'd rather that than cold and grey. We're out for lunch toda. A 25% discount on one Christmas item runs out at the end of the month. Be rude not to use it and ruder still not to eat at their wonderful cafe. Washing blowing gently, just how I like life. Fingers crossed I can enjoy it for a while......

The @ feature either appears instantly. Possibly wrong letter but corrects as I type 1st letter. However if I get fat finger syndrome at this stage and clear a letter, it's lost.... Or it doesn't respond at all after hitting @. One both tablet and phone.

I have just acquired a notebook, but not tried CT on it or much else!

Reading all the posts about resizing photos etc. I love seeing all the photos but don’t post any myself as I’d probably mess it up and to be honest I can’t be doing with fiddling about with it all. OH always says I’m technologically disabled, which is probably true but mostly cos I just can’t be bothered. However, when considering how much things have changed over the older generations lifetime I think I do ok. Anyone remember the Gestetner machines at work for photocopying,my grandkids laughed when I explained how they worked. And adding machines where one had to pull down the handle each time to make them work. And I remember coding documents before they went to the ‘punch girls’ to enable the paperwork to then be entered into the computer, which was so large it took up most of the basement at work. At least I’m better than my cousin, who still always leaves her mobile at home when she goes out, it never moves from the coffee table.

Hygienist this morning, eight injections, four top and bottom just to enable her to clean the gums on one side of my mouth. I go 4 times a year and she just does one side at a time as I have very sensitive gums. The receptionist invited me to book a year in advance now as they are so busy. 4 hours later and still numb and drinking tea through a straw.

Bought a couple of bargains at Homebase this morning as ours is one that is closing down. I shall miss it as often shop there, it’s always busy so a real shame it’s going, I find it far better than B&Q. I always feel guilty getting bargains at closing down shops when served by staff that I know will be laid off shortly, it’s all such a shame.

Then a trip up to Sutton Scarsdale Hall.... with a great view looking North.... hopefully avoiding the M1 in the photo.. 😀

The weather was great all day

@DEBSC . I dont 'faff about' with photos now. I just take a photo on my phone and then when putting on CT I click on the mountain icon, select the photo and click done and that's it - no resizing or altering it in any way. Yes I well remember the Gestetner machines!! I used them a lot and usually got covered in ink 😳.
