@Wherenext that was a grand walk you had today, well done. You have been fortunate with the weather as rain was forecast for the North West of England.
Hope the Heron didn't get any of your fish, @richardandros.
We had mist and light drizzle for much of the day, which finally cleared around mid afternoon, but then we had rain for an couple of hours or so this evening. We went to Kinver Edge, hoping to visit the Holy Austin Rock Houses, but there is only access at the weekends in the winter. Instead we had a couple of walk up to the hill fort, before and after lunch. Photo is the best I could manage of the Rock Houses today.

Managed to get home and unpacked before the heavy rain set in. Chucking it down at present. Had to go to Tesco as no food in and the car park is like a swimming pool.
We were extremely lucky with our weather for the 2 nights away, particularly as we had to book it well in advance to qualify for a free night. Worked out at less than £14 per night. Good place to walk or cycle from but the new section leaves me cold. Don't like that bit at all.
Something to cheer you up.😎

Good to read that you got home ok, and agree with you about that part of the Southport site, looked like a car park with LVs instead of motorcars when we visited, @Wherenext

Not been the best of days with heavy showers and wind this afternoon and early evening. We had to get a new kettle for the van today, so called in at Argos at Sainsbury's before we had a short walk along by the canal. Then it was essential good shopping before heading back to the site and a long chat with a 3 Mobile rep concerning our MiFi, and eventually the chap sorted out our internet problem, fingers crossed.

I had an appointment with the Opticians for 9.40 this morning so the ladies said they would cadge a lift and do some shopping. Now, MiL normally gets up to make herself a cuppa around 7-7.15 each morning. We know this as she isn't the quietest doing it!😁 I went in to have breakfast at 8 and the kettle hadn't been used. I sent OH in to check if she was still in the land of the living. She was. Getting her ready in just over an hour, without the temptation of a shop, is nigh on impossible. However, there she was sitting in the car by 9.15.😂 I know people talk about shopping therapy but this was more akin to Lazarus status.
Opticians went as expected. Going to need varifocals in near future. Might hang on until after Christmas as CC taking a bit of a bash at present.
Weather forecast sounds atrocious, hope no-one thinking of travelling tomorrow in the Amber/Red warning area. The rain arrived an hour ago after a dry day. Fingers crossed for the rest that will follow.

lWe have had a busy few weeks here. Got 4 monthly blood result yesterday all still good so that’s a relief. Weather here terrible just now pouring rain but not too windy yet. Hoping to get away in the van between Christmas and new year weather permitting. Attention already turning to next years trips looking at Norfolk for our main summer trip an area we have never been to. Hoping to get down to Chester in March and maybe Yorkshire in April
Hope everyone has a nice weekend

@Francis pleased to read that you blood test results are all good. Hope you are able to get away before the end of the year.
It has been cloudy all day and dry until around 3:00 this afternoon. We had a couple of good walks up on Hartlebury Common either side of lunch, and a little bit of shopping on the way back to the van. More heavier showers this evening, but at the moment the wind is not over strong. There has been no big invasion of units for the weekend, with around the same number as there has been all week.

Last night our phones went off with a very loud ‘buzz’ made us really jump, it was the Red Alert weather warning for our area. And they weren’t wrong! Very little sleep all night, more like a hurricane than a strong wind, I have never known anything like it and it’s still going strong. Both up very early as worried. Power cuts in the night but back on now. We live on the side of a valley and the gale is coming off the Atlantic and then straight up the valley from the river. The trees in the wood at the end of our back garden are waving around like blades of grass, very concerned that one may come down. So far it’s just the bird table to go, it was pinned securely to the ground, plant pots are all over and I’m not sure the old rose arch can survive this, it’s now leaning badly. OH can’t even get out there at present to check the roof tiles.🤞 It’s still going on, not abating at all so hoping nothing else. Many will have much worse damage I suspect. Concerned for our daughter as they are at the top of a hill facing the Atlantic but don’t want to call her yet. Take care everyone.

@DEBSC thinking of you. Hope those remain your only casualties.
Over here in the east it's blustery and earlier, the rain lashed on the front windows. Dog will get a swift round and block and be grateful. I expect it will rain when I do that! Hardly any small birds feeding, the 4 blackbirds were scurrying with the wind behind them! The pheasant seemed OK and the squirrel has just turned up..... They look very bedraggled.
SStay Safe everyone. Essential outings only.
Still having hiccups with the site!

Just heavy rain here, winds not too bad. A day to stay in by the fire.

@Francis We loved staying in Norfolk, we used Sandringham as a stopover before going further in. We have stayed at the Norfolk Broads site which is central and another time at Seacroft at Cromer which is more away from the broads but an excellent location for the north Norfolk coast and of course a short walk into Cromer. Both sites were excellent and have SPs if that interests you. There is lots to do and see and we never ran out of things to do, a boat trip to see the Seals was a highlight, and you might spot our favourite Seal who is called Ron 😉. Any more questions just ask.
We also stayed at White house Beach at Lowestoft, a little bit out of the way but it was a great site on the beach (more shingle than sand) that was great for the kids at that time - just thought about it and that was 20 years ago!

It was a bit 'blowy' last night when I went off to Abbey Choir Practice... fortunately the heating did its job, andcthe room we use for practice was nice and warm...
Glad your boods we OK @Francis I've had a message from our Drs inviting me to go for an ECG.... it seems they have had 'funding' to enable them to send out 'invites'...
Horrible wet/drizzly day here in N Warks/ S.E. Staffs, but shopping needs to be done....
Have a good day everyone...

@Francis The bar and restaurant were certainly good and the pool is heated to 30C so it's really warm no matter what and has a lifeguard. The first hour of the day was reserved for 'older' campers only which was good for me. I'm not saying you need either a lifeguard or fall into the older category☺️.
I did notice a lot of outfits had bikes with them but we didn't have bikes with us so sorry can't help but a simple search has thrown up these which may be helpful and I notice there were plenty more:
Hopefully someone will have more information for you.

Francis
We used Seacroft on regular basis, usually a week in October. The advantage to us was that we could walk from the site or catch the bus from outside the entrance. If you are concerned about traffic you might want to avoid the main road as it is narrow in places between Cromer and Sheringham. I think those routes posted by CS might provide "quieter" cycling. When the Club took over the site the restaurant was more like a restaurant but now more like a bar with food and large TV's which was less to our taste. You will need to make up your own mind.

@Cornersteady thanks for this info looks like there are a few nice routes for the bikes. Just one other thing how did you find the tow to get to the site I have been looking and the route through Cromer looks the best one with the caravan and yes we would fall in to the older category hehe
@DavidKlyne thanks for the input it’s a site we have wanted to visit for a while. The bar is a bonus to us we do quite like the bar type environment that’s why we like the clubs Hillhead site so much. It’s nice to have a place to go after a day out for a pint and something to eat
Thanks both

@Francis I can't remember but we simply followed the club's instructions and I can't recall any problems or issues in getting there.

Definitely the 'quiet before the storm' here on the East coast. Hardly any breeze at all and just occasional drizzle. However 60mph winds are forecast for this afternoon and continuing until tomorrow night so I've been out in the garden and moved anything that might be blown into the pond! Since the wind is going to come mainly from the north and there's nothing, other than open fields, between the back of our house and the North Sea, I suspect we'll get the full force of it😮

@Francis I'm enclosing some info about cycle routes. Hope it helps. The towing shouldn't cause you any concerns. Getting to Cromer itself is all on a major A road.
You'll enjoy Norfolk. Cromer is good and you can catch the old steam train from Sheringham, just down the road. The seal trips tend to be from Morston which is just along the coast, about 20 minutes from Cromer. There are regular Coast bus services which, if you don't fancy driving, will drop you at places like Blakeney, Morston and a trip to Wells should be made as it won't disappoint you.
Good to hear your blood tests went ok.
Still raining hard here although the winds have died down to just normal storm strength at the moment.

This is the aforementioned Mr Ron Seal

Some drizzle with gusty winds but nothing too drastic
lots going on here at the moment. Went to Hampshire to see brother last Sunday, unfortunately he’s still poorly so not sure when he will be discharged. Younger brother readmitted this afternoon after suffering 2 falls in the last 24 hours.
Went and watched Sophie play football this morning she managed to score a hat-rick.0 -
The wind has definitely picked up here this afternoon. I went out this morning to visit a friend but have stayed in this afternoon and probably wont go far tomorrow. Son in NI said the wind over there had been really bad but was beginning to abate a bit.
@Francis I agree with what everyone says about Norfolk. We love it there. When we used to have our caravan we used to start off at The Norfolk Broads site, then go to Seacroft and finish our trip at Sandringham. Good news about your blood test.
@Oneputt as @Wherenext has said a mixed bag of news from.you. well done to your grand-daughter. I hope you have better news about both your brothers soon.
Lovely photos @nelliethehooker. It is a part of the country that we dont know well at all. Hope you are keeping safe in this awful weather.
A really busy week here. I am now trying to get ready for our trip to see son and family in NI later this week.

For some reason I cannot delete the above post by using the edit facility, and which I also could not backspace to get rid of it when I originally typed it. I thought that I would be able to delete it during editing after posting it, but to no avail!

@Oneputt I can only iterate what others have said, and that you have better news soon.
@milliehull thanks for the comment. There are lots of interesting places to visit in this area, especially if you have not visited here before.
We had rain through the night but it was not too windy. I managed a dryish walk first thing but we have now had both strong winds and multiple rain showers throughout the rest of the day. Thankfully we are on the lower level of the site which is partially sheltered, but still have had the van shaking at times! There have been power cuts during the afternoon and although some power has been restored it is of a low voltage, not sufficient to power the caravan's fridge on electrics, so have it running on gas. Had a visit after lunch from our son and DIL, which was grand, but they were not too keen stopping for more than a few hours in case there were problems on the roads when heading back home. Hopefully we will see them on our return north later in the month, when perhaps we can get out for a walk together.
