I have got a newer one than yours Goldie but works just as well and those apples looked great just wish I could get proper cooking apples here as we had a large Bramley apple tree in Somerset and I used to freeze them for winter puddings, although I do some eating apples here if cheap enough.
The bbq that was advertised on a local website was sold this am and that was the last thing to go so more space in my shed hooray.
Getting a bit warmer this week but still cool at the moment and it got down to 6.7C this morning brr Autumn is on its way.

Thanks for all of that information TDA, as a lot of it would not have occurred to me as my previous bike was not as likley to have been stolen. I bought the bike as it folds up quite small and seems to be one of the lightest electric bikes on the market (as far as I am aware), which will enable me to keep it folded up, inside the van, when not in use. I need to use a gold D lock to cover me on the insurance policy, but will remember to include it on my house insurance as well.

Goldie I also have one of those, just a little newer, use it every year as our old cooker apple tree, we planted it 40 years ago, gives us a huge crop each year, plenty to see us through all winter with many puds. Not this year however, slim pickings this year to start with, maybe it’s having a rest year, which it well deserves, then the squirrels got to it! Bloody things, they pull them off, take one bite then drop them to the ground. They picked the very last one yesterday. I’m getting good with the mega water pistol but I can’t be on watch all of the time. They run but are back again within a few minutes. Lots of them this year, and I’ve never known them to take the apples before. Goldie just to say I do love your dresser in the background of your photo.

We have a glut of apples here, cookers on our tree, Braeburn on Mums. Love the gadget. We try and use our apples in different ways, I love baked apples, cored, half peeled, stuffed with dried fruit and a good glug of spirits. Have to lay off the cream though. Crumbles, pies, simple cooked on hob…..all yummy😋
Lots of raspberries as well, but no plums or pears☹️

VFBG - Hope your home insurance isn't with any of the subsidiaries of Lloyds Banking Group. We had 2 expensive bikes and Thule carrier covered with Halifax a few years ago. After 3 years they suddenly realised they shouldn't be covering them at all and cancelled the cover straightaway, refunding that portion of premium to me plus an amount for inconvenience. They couldn't get it into their head that the car insurers only picked up Public Liability cover providing bikes were on the bike carrier at time of any accident. They told me the car insurers should pick up the damage to the bike, whilst on the car which of course was absolute rubbish. Motor insurers wouldn't be picking up the damage to a caravan in a road accident, same principle. Motor insurers agreed with my assessment. Anyway I found an alternative quite easily and Halifax agreed to cancel my home insurance on a pro-rata basis.
Make sure you get the insurers to admit that the Motorhome is counted as a fixed item as they often have a condition that the bikes are secured to a fixed object when not being used or in a securely locked building (check they also cover in garages, most won't cover sheds).

It’s a bit of a nightmare is bike insurance, especially for very expensive ones. We actually use Pedalsure who are a specialist bike insurance for our House insurance, as they are the only ones that seem to understand things clearly. We’ve had bikes stolen from home (garage) but thankfully, at the time we had all the receipts, and our local bike shop provided us with full details of all our purchases, so we got a full payout, plus repairs to garage. Some tea leaf will have spotted us putting them away😡 We got a phone call from police months later, thinking they had found OH’s very distinctive bike, but it wasn’t.

It has been better than forecast, with only an odd short shower. I finished the cleaning of the inside of the caravan so only the outside to do before we next head off again. We did pay a visit to our local park this morning before doing some essential shopping. I can't match Millies's lovely photos but here are a couple of the one of the arrangements there, and a new one of Flyte in his summer "perm".

Bit of a difficult day yesterday. Lizzie (the dog), who in now 13, was taken ill and we had to take her to the local vet in Stornoway. 'Went outside' yesterday morning and collapsed on the way in. The vet said she had a high temperature and suspected a stomach infection. They've kept her in over night and have treated her with anti-biotics, so we have to wait for an update. Apparently, she was looking brighter yesterday afternoon, but as we are staying an hour away, they decided to keep her in, just in case she needed any emergency treatment.
We'll be ringing this morning for an update.... 😢

That is good news DSB and hopes she continues to recover.
Well another warm day and the same for the next few days, washing done and will soon dry in this heat.
Friend of ours is going in to hospital tomorrow to have a small Hernia operation should be just a day but will have to see how he is after the operation good job they do not have any guests at the moment but a few next month.

I wish with hindsite that I have not bought the bike (which was due to the senior moment that I have mentioned), as it has far too many caveats to avoid it being stolen and/or voiding any inurance on it! Obviously too late now though.
I really do wonder how capable insurance companies are if they don't even know that a customer is paying a premium for something that they don't actually insure, or tell customers something, which as you say, is complete rubbish.
What we are told over the phone is often at odds with what is in the written terms and conditions and I have given insurance companies information which I have later found out, they have not written down, which could have voided a policy if a claim had been made. Thank you for the information and I have taken note of what you have said for future reference.

It’s not that bad really once you have done it, and hopefully you will get lots of enjoyment from your bike. It sounds compact enough to store easily inside your outfit when away, and at home, so hopefully well out of sight of opportunist thieves.
Given the above, I would try and talk to someone who provides your current house insurance, and explain how it will be stored at home, and away. Yes, you will need a lock if you intend leaving it when out, but if you are like us, it won’t happen much, if ever. All you can do is ask. The photos and all the receipts are crucial though.0 -
The area where we live isn't known to be an area for many burglaries or thefts and my next door neighbour has one of those CCTV doorbells which picks up people who walk up my drive as well, BUT never say never! I would think that they are a good deterrent to burglars.
I will try pedalsure, although I have received some quotes from Eversure and Churchill so will compare the comparison quotes!!!
Perhaps I should have bought a canoe instead, as the way the weather has been last year and this year, it may have been more appropriate. The weather is looking a lot better for next week though!

Sorry to hear about Lizzie, hate things like stomach upsets. Hopefully she will mend up quickly, they are such resilient little creatures. Our Lab has been for his monthly injection and drugs top up this morning. We could probably fund a cruise every couple of months with what he costs us, but we do love him🥰 He’s 15 in January🤞

Enjoyed the garden photos as well. Easton is lovely, I have a good few plants from there, and some sweet pea seeds. We haven’t been able to get this year, but it’s always one of our favourites.

David - I'm so pleased to hear that Lizzie seems to be OK. It's so worrying when they are ill - and they can't tell you what's wrong! I still haven't forgotten Meg spending 24 hours at the emergency vets on Boxing Day, two years ago, after vomiting blood. She also was back to normal after a couple of days, but what a worrying time it was. I won't mention the bill but thankfully, her insurance covered it.

Thanks everyone. She seems fine now. Vets fee wasn't too bad, tbh. Just a tad over £150 - including the overnight stay and care, consultation fee and meds. It's hardly worth us claiming through PetPlan. I think we pay the first £125 and then 20% of the remainder of the bill. Then she's not covered for heart related stuff..... and they gave her the 3 heart meds she's on. It sometimes makes me wonder if its worth paying the monthly insurance premium!

That’s an incredible price for an overnight stay. I guess none of the big six mega vet corporates are interested in the Outer Hebrides. It would have been around £500 with our vets😡. We shall stay on with current vets for rest of Choccy Boy’s life, but we have an independent vet still a little bit further from home, comes highly recommended. Vets are good where we are, but the prices set by company are off the scale. We haggle every visit so that we don’t end up paying the “new customer rate”. They are struggling for vets as well.

Glad to hear that you have Lizzie back with you, David, and that she seems fine.
Tda, the chocolate pooch is doing very well getting to his age. All this rain is helping Flyte's to keep his curls but they are usually much lighter in colour by this time of the year however the lack of prolonged sunshine has been missing, so far at least where we live.
It has been a very wet day today but at least it has not been too windy so I have been able to use a brolly on our walks out.

Well the family early birthday party for OH didn’t quite go to plan. First I cut my thumb and had a bit of a problem to stop the bleeding. We just managed lunch in the garden and then the heavens opened so stuck inside for the rest of the day, the evening bbq food had to be cooked in the oven. We had just finished this, desert and birthday cake when very suddenly our granddaughter became unwell, ambulance called and here very quickly and they bluelighted her to hospital. Her Mum went with her, hopefully they will let her go home later tonight once they have stabilised her. One of the paramedics recognised her from previous calls. Having said that the youngsters all said they had had a great time and our daughter in law has just phoned to thank us and to say they enjoyed it. Birthday boy said that apart from granddaughter being taken ill he also very much enjoyed himself. I’m just a bit shattered now. Dentist tomorrow.

Absolutely ttda - when I took Meg to the emergency vet's - albeit on a Bank Holiday, I was warned that it was £300 just to step through the door! Then add on X-rays, blood tests, antibiotics and a days rest on a drip in their 'hospital' to get her re-hydrated and you can imagine what the final bill was.
Would I have done anything else - no way - all we were bothered about was getting her back, fit and well.
What absolutely amazed me though, was that they had the blood test results in 5 minutes and the Vet came into the waiting room and showed me the X-ray scans on her mobile phone, a few minutes after doing them. I will resist posing the obvious question!
