Yes good to see that the off track chatter has not impacted on performance. Perez was a bit closer this time, although I suppose providing he comes second they don't really mind how much the gap is?

Good to see young Ollie Bearman have a decent first ever Grand Prix race for Ferrari as well.

Ferrari have something to smile about tonight after Carlos Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix and Charles LeClerc came second. Quite remarkable that two weeks ago Sainz was having his appendix out! Wonder what the thinking is now about Hamilton going to the team?

The Monaco Grand Prix has always been considered the go to race for many and highly anticipated by Grand Prix fans. But things seem to be changing with complaints that it is just a procession behind who every gets on pole. Tyres seem to last the whole race so there are few pit stops to mix things up. Overtaking is difficult to almost impossible due the the size of the current cars. Lots of ideas on what could improve things. Mandatory pits stops, perhaps as many as two so that all tyre compounds are used. Re-jig the circuit to have at least one part of the track where overtaking can be achieved. Monaco only has one more year on its contract so it is possible we could lose this iconic race. Having been to a GP there the atmosphere is very different to other venues so just from that point of view I would vote to keep it, warts and all.

Whilst I agree with much of what you sat David, in my opinion there are now too many street circuits.  I would vote to dump Monaco in favour of another high speed track like Spa, Silverstone etc

+ 1. Monaco has been a boring race for many years. People perceive it has glamour but it is predictable and monotonous.

I would agree about proper "race tracks" as opposed to the current crop of street circuits. However I am somewhat nostalgic about Monaco and I think it would be a shame to lose it completely. Having said that I think they have to make some changes to the course for it to survive. Apparently the FIA have said they aim to make the cars smaller but that could take many years and the track could be lost by then.

Lewis Hamilton said they should have Monaco tyres with very high degradation forcing 2 or 3 pit stops.  The problem is that the FIA are mucking about with artificial aids to make racing more appealing.  There is already an EV F1 series so lets return to ICE say 1.6 with twin turbos where packaging a tiny engine would allow the cars to be so much smaller

What an absolute farce Monaco was !  Just a procession for the rich and famous and Mercedes telling Russell not to drive any faster !!  The majority of the drivers said that it was boring and I'm guessing a lot of supporters thought so too.

I took my campervan to Snetterton for 3 nights for the BTCC and really enjoyed it despite the weather and watched proper racing.

Oh well, the 1, 2 only based a couple of hours. Hard luck George, it wasn't your fault, but another win for Sir Lewis.
