Well yesterday was a washout! (Weather-wise).... Today was cloudy but with one or two bright spells. It's cleared up to quite a nice evening... Cadac out for evening meal and still sitting oitside.... I won't say where we are, until a little later (to avoid spoiling the guessing game: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/uk-sites-touring/name-that-camc-site/?er=P860214#P860214

Sorry to read that others have been having poor weather, which has now arrived this evening in Nidderdale. We had a longer than anticipated tow this morning as the road we had intended to take was closed, which meant a detour and an additional 15 mls or so. However we will use a different route when heading back towards home. It thankfully stayed dry when packing up a and all afternoon so we were able to get a couple of walks in along the River Nidd path. I came across this interesting Gothic House, Castlestead, and this trio of statues on the old Station's turning circle. We now have a red sky after the heavy rain!!
Good to read that you all enjoyed your stay in S.Cumbria, even if the weather wasn't perfect, WN. I guess you will have found it much easier cleaning "The Van" than your caravan and car.
Fingers crossed that your car sails through its MOT, Helen.
Glad you had decent weather for the family BBQ, Millie. It sounds like you all had a super time.
I hope that the weather improves for all those who are out with their caravans/Motorhomes.

Nice day here today was windy this morning but cleared up and ended up quite warm. Took a trip up to Bristol today to visit the SS Great Britain we had been before but it was 18 years ago so we felt a return visit was due. What a great day very good museum with info about the boat and of course Brunel himself the ship has been restored since we were last here and gives a great impression of what life would have been like for those aboard. After we had been there we took a wander along the riverside which was very pleasant we had visited Bristol before and to be honest hadn’t been impressed but today we got a much better impression of it so a return visit may be on the cards. Nellie and WN will appreciate this I’m sure as the car was filthy so on the way back to the van I took it to one of the self wash places at an Esso £6 for a snow foam and jet wash so Volvo now sparkling again and should do now until we are back home at the middle of next week.
Millie sounds like you had a nice weekend. David enjoy your break

Lovely warm and sunny weather, here at NYM, David - just got things out of the freezer for tonight's BBQ Off into Whitby later on the basis that mid-week might be quieter than at the weekend.

...we're at Hunter's Moon. Certainly not beach weather, so after a bit of shopping at the supermarkdt, we drove out to Christchurch, and walked around the 'wharf' - visited the Mill (and the tea shop with the same name) and the Priory.
Still cool in the shade today, but the sun has come out, so we may well ha e a drive down to Knoll Beach at Studland. If it gets cooler, we can always visit the beach cafe.... 🤣🤣

Hot and sunny here on the Lofoten Islands. The weather on our trip overall has been pretty good, 2 hot and sunny days after our daughter and family arrived last week, and lovely every day since last Sunday.
My sister’s birthday party went well, 46 people in total, mainly family, and the following morning we had 27 for breakfast at her house.
We came here on Monday, by ferry at 7am, staying in an Air B&B, which is a nice house just outside a small town. Yesterday we visited the Viking museum nearby, today we oldies are visiting my cousins, and the young people have gone off to the beach. Tomorrow I am not sure what we are doing, and on Friday we take the ferry back to the mainland at 14.45, so only 4 nights here.
The time seems to have gone very fast, we travel back to UK on Monday afternoon.

Sounds a fantastic holiday K, and I bet you enjoying seeing family, catching up with your birth land.
Lovely day here, at the moment, hot and sunny. But I can see some very black clouds around as well.

Had to change our Waitrose shopping day to Wednesday as Margaret has the Dentist tomorrow and probably a tooth extraction, not something to look forward to. She has had to change the appointment a couple of times to fit in with her recent hand operation. In the meantime the dentist we have had for the past year of so is leaving the practise so she doesn't know if it will be a new dentist! Strange really as we have used this same practise all the time we have lived in MK, 45 years now and for much of that time we had continuity of practise staff. About five years ago they sold out to a company that runs multiple dental practices and now staff seem to change every five minutes! Not much we can do about it sadly.

".we're at Hunter's Moon. Certainly not beach weather,"
well i guess Hunter Moon is no more than 50 miles from Lee on the Solent and today has been gorgeous, water very clear and very warm had a brilliant swim PM today and most of the car parks empty i cycle down as only 5 mins then i cycle back round the air field just to get some additional exercise, would love to do more walking but knee replacements not 100 pct succesful so it is much easier to cycle.

Lovely day both weather wise and enjoyment wise.
Sunny for most of the day as we're off on a 2 night getaway. Started off at Rode Hall. Lucky for us it's a Wednesday as they only open on Wednesdays. Lovely gardens, small place but worth the stop. Will post some photos when we get home Friday. Then we paid a visit to Biddulph Grange NT. Preferred the more intimate Rode Hall. The NT not very good for people with mobility problems so we couldn't bring MiL here.
C&CC site at Blackshaw Moor2/3rds full. Had difficulty getting a CL/CS last night. Off to Coombes Valley RSPB reserve tomorrow.

....that was yesterday, Rufs. Today has been lovely,... spent the afternoon on Knoll beach, Studland..
P.S. I know what you mean about the limitations of knee replacements. I've had both mine done.... the most difficult thing is trying to kneel down... I know you're not supposed to, but I can manage a little using a kneeler for brief moments...David

Hey, Francis, Please to hear that the weather has picked up for you, R&R at NYM, and David, too at Hunter's Moon.
Good to read that you are out and about again, WN, Enjoy your time down at Blackshaw.
Today here has been probably the best weather wise for us this summer, with lots of sunshine but not over warm. We visited Coldstones Cut, a piece of public art on a monumental scale which overlooks the huge Coldstones quarry, and Toft Gate Lime Kiln before heading down to Grimwith Reservoir. There is a 4.5 ml walk around the reservoir, although we only did some of it. Definitely well worth a visit, especially for any walkers staying at the club's Grassington site.
I must say that it was a heck of a ride up to the Cut though!!

Aw, bless. I’m sure she will have had a fabulous life for a cow with you Goldie. Beautiful looking cow.
Gorgeous day here, and a few more to come hopefully. Glad you out and about WN, Biddulph Grange is indeed a challenge for anyone with mobility issues, we were there last year in a heat wave. Between Spring and Summer plants, so possibly not at its best, but we had a good day. CS site that might suit you, as it has very nice loos, showers, great views…….Castle Camping Ltd at Mow Cop. It’s £14 per night, without hook up, £18 with. We voted it our stop of the year last year, really nice. Little Moreton Hall is just over hill, not far away.
That looks very interesting Nellie, you don’t half find some great places👍
We have had fun today. Pool is now up, 3/4 full so far. Took some siting, mainly trying to find a flat bit in garden big enough, but we’ve done ok. If it works, then we can get the area sorted for next year. Forecast is for 26c here, next couple of days, so we might take the plunge late tomorrow.

I know Nellie I did feel a bit guilty about it but needs must and I must admit the machine done a good job
WN - I was out a cycle this morning and went along to the end of weston shore front where there is a sign for the pier to pier route. I must admit I had never heard of Clevedon until you mentioned it but after a bit of research SWMBO wanted to visit so I went out a cycle then we drove up to clevedon what a nice place we had a nice walk along the shore front then had a drink in a lovely beer garden overlooking the water. Weather here today has been brilliant so on way back to the van we got some chops and burgers to cook on the Cadac and spent the evening outsize enjoying the sun. Weather looking good for tomorrow too.
WN - Enjoy your break

Here's a photo taken on our dog walk, yesterday morning. I know I'm biased - but North Yorkshire has to be the most beautiful county in the country - especially on a day like that. (I'll await the reaction from you all) Whitby was heaving yesterday - it even took 15 minutes for me to stand in the queue to pay for the car park! Good for the local economy, I know - but the place has been totally spoilt. I was only thinking, as we wandered around, that it's nearly 70 years since I first went there - and how it has changed. All that charm, intrigue and character has disappeared. There's probably only Filey on this coastline that's managed to retain it somehow. Did manage to buy a couple of wonderful pasties, though - best I have had for a long time from a new shop that's opened on Church Street so the planned BBQ was postponed until this evening!
Ruswarp, this morning - just for a quiet coffee by the riverside and hopefully it shouldn't be as busy.

That is a snug fit Ttda and hope you enjoy it and the weather stays warm for you do you have a ladder or steps to get in it?
We have a very hot day here about 36C so not much being done outside and OH has a cardio appointment this afternoon so before that we drop a few things off at Emmaus Charity before hospital appointment.
Our pool is still covered up here and I have had issues with my right leg due to an old cycle accident a few years ago which makes going up the pool ladder difficult so as I only use it as OH not keen it will be coming down in the next week and will go back to the small inflatable spa which is easier for me to get into and does not take so much water but will reuse some of the water out of the pool for it and we can take it down for the winter as we have had a few issues with pool in the winter.
Hope folks are enjoying their breaks away, we are not sure if we will get away in the caravan this year and now booked a week in a gite in the Haute Vienne in late September same place as the B&B we have stayed in for 3 times earlier this year as we would like to explore the locality a bit more.

We had a lovely day out on a u3a coach trip to Rushden Lakes yesterday. We made a few purchaes and had a very nice lunch at Pizza Express. We then sat by the lake in the beautiful sunshine and had an ice cream. This was foĺlowed by an 'interesting' evening. I have had a problem with my right eye for a few days and as it seemed worse I rang 111 who said I should go to A&E. It was very busy and everyone was working really hard. The staff were all marvellous. I was seen by a doctor after about 4 hours who gave me a very thorough examination and thankfully ruled out a detached retina and said I had no tears or splits and has made an appt for me for the eye clinic next week. Got home at 1.00 am. We are meeting some friends for lunch who we havent seen for sometime today. I hope we can stay awake!
Glad you are away again WN. Hopefully you are enjoying the lovely weather. Your garden looks lovely TDA. So.much in bloom.

I hope your eye is better soon Millie, A&E is never the best place to be but we are fortunate to have it. Always so busy and the staff seem to stay bright and helpful. Hope you have a nice lunch with friends.
A lovely day yesterday, Hidcote first, it was very busy, we had to park in the overflow, overflow field. We only had a short walk around as have been there so many times before. Would have liked a coffee but the queue was too long. OH left me browsing in the second hand bookshop to walk back to the car with the comment of, ‘Do NOT go in the plant shop’. Opps, I did need a geranium for our bank and who could resist a Miss Wilmotts Ghost Thistle, Ill squeeze it in somewhere. The thistle will set me up for a challenge as it needs full sun and our garden is shady. Then we went on to Broadway and had a drink sitting in the sunshine at the Broadway Hotel, that was also very busy, but we managed to get a table overlooking the green and we watched the world go by, very nice.
Maintenance day today, the caravan door is sticking so OH needs his tool box and I have some windows to clean. Maybe sit out in this lovely weather for a read later. The phone has rung every day we’ve been here with the Dr, nurse or hospital arranging follow up appointments for OH after his GP visit. Could do without it while we are away as concerning and going to be busy when we get back

Millie, I'm glad all went well and it wasn't a detached retina.
Having a detached retina is a potentially life changing occurrence and time is definitely of the essence. a couple of days delay may result in loss of sight to that eye. If you can't get an appointment then either go direct to an Eye hospital or at least to an opticians. I was lucky that mine was operated on in time.

Thanks for the suggestion Ttda. Will bear it in mind if and when we're down this way again.
Might agree with you RandR but think Northumbria might give you a run for your money.
Good to hear hols going well Francis.
What a smashing day. Had a wander around Coombes Valley bird reserve. Met just 2 other people. It's up hill and down Dale. About 5 miles. In and out of sun. We visit about once every 5 years or so, usually in April or early May so a bit different today.
Fingers crossed for you Millie.

Margaret had her tooth out this morning, apparently a cracked root, no wonder it was painful! As a bonus the dentist we thought may have left was still there. Bit difficult deciding what to eat but getting a bit more adventurous as the day goes by.

David, I'm sure that Margaret is greatly relieved to have had the tooth removed, I know I would be, as there's nothing worse than toothache in my opinion. Is your dentist staying at the practice.
Pleased to read that you had a smashing day out today, WN. Guess you are back home again, and that your MIL manage fine while you were away. Don't think that we have been to that reserve, so must look it up for a future visit.
I don't envy you the high temperature that you had today, RK, the low 20s suits us just fine, definitely when trying to get to sleep in the caravan.
Sorry to hear that about your eye trouble, Millie, but pleased that it doesn't seem to be a detached retina. Hope the eye clinic can find out the cause of your eye problem.
Others out and about appear to be having enjoyable times at their respective locations.
An even warmer sunny day than yesterday but it has clouded up this evening. We went to Brimham Rocks werewe had a couple of decent walks. We keep seeing different rock formations each time we go there, the one below n particular today. Also here is the drone view of Coldstone Cut giving a super view of the whole monument.
