What are you all up to

The church also has oodles of history with Dukes of Norfolk lying in tombs there with their various offspring. Catherine Parr and Anne Boleyn were nieces of one of them.
OH spotted your deliberate mistake, WN, and claims the prize!😁😁

She is saving them for our next trip!! 😊
Sound like you had a grand day, and pleased that you made it without any problems. T will be a rest day tomorrow perhaps.
Tda, thanks for all the information. Enjoy your day(s) out at the ToB, and hope you do not come a cropper on your new bike.
Looks a grand site R&R, and pleased that you both had a relaxing time.
Not done much, apart from more weeding, these last coup!e of days, but have now booked nearly all the sites for our trip, just a couple more to finalise, making it a total of 15 sites, mainly CLs.

Yes, that’s the one OP👍 We parked up no problem there with our MH, short stroll to Abbey Gardens.
I missed the deliberate mistake, but I have just realised we have visited the graves of four of Henry’s six queens…..
Katherine of Aragon is in Peterborough.
Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard (along with their heads) are in St Peter ad Vincula in the Tower.
Catherine Parr is buried at Sudeley Castle.
Jane Seymour is with Henry at Windsor we have yet to visit, but I am not sure where Anne of Cleves is buried🤔 (edit…. She is in Westminster Abbey, hidden away behind Edward the Confessor, so will likely have seen it, but not realised)

Rufs - yes it is mainly grass which we like - and I tow with a 4x4 with low ratio box, diff locks and off-road tyres fitted - so we're OK!! If it's really wet it can get a bit 'slippy' for ordinary cars. However - in the other field (looking through the gate posts in that picture), there is a small strip of hardstanding area across the top of the field. I am sure if you spoke to Andrew when you booked, he could reserve one of those pitches for you.
The pitches aren't fully serviced but most of the caravan pitches either have their own water supply or are close to a tap. The pitch we always go on is probably the furthest from any tap but I manage to plumb in using about 20m of hose and a 4-way tap splitter so others (eg tent campers) can still use the tap or other vans can also plumb in. I have talked to Andrew about putting drainage in - but, because of the slope of the site, this would be virtually impossible. We've even talked about a soakaway at the bottom of the orchard but then he falls foul of the water authority because of the nearby stream.
I must admit, I raise an eyebrow at the "you don't have to be a member" statement and have talked to Andrew about it but he tells me that the C&CC are happy with this if the non-member merely says they are prepared to consider joining in the future. Who am I to argue?!! He is also not very good at counting and sometimes there are more than 5 vans there for a night or two. Do I care - not really, since there is so much space, you don't really notice.
It's just a lovely peaceful spot - we're always up early in a morning and it's wonderful to listen to the owls talking to each other across the orchard - and yet, only a couple of miles from Malton and everything that's accessible from there. Most of the people on site this last fortnight have become regulars which says a lot about it and those that weren't, said they were definitely coming back.

Was the Alpaca trecking at Wells next the Sea OP? We have seen them out and about near there and a friend of mine recently went with friends for a birthday treat and loved it.

Re not being a Member, we have stayed on a few C&CC listed sites where you don’t need to be a Member, not quite sure how it works, but I think they are called “Listed Sites”. Club Sites you do need Membership, and I assume CS’s as well, but like CC, some have more than one pitching area.

I see that Easter is the end of March and we usually go for a couple of weeks's over Easter - so might see you there!

Just to let you know CS that I have reported your post as its in poor taste and quite offensive.
Quite right Nellie. A quieter day today but somewhat "forced" upon us as it was raining all morning so we gave in to it. OH mentioned an art shop that she wouldn't mind visiting in Bungay so we headed there after lunch and she pronounced it worth the trip. We then decided to get a food shop in, planned for tomorrow so the day wasn't wasted.
I expected Ttda to spot the "error" first tbh but well done Mrs.N. Must admit it might not have been deliberate as I'd been looking at photos from Sudeley Castle from a visit last month and had "Parr" in my mind. Still as Dukey was a Howard I left it in when clicking the post sign. Was going to edit it but.... Another bag of Jelly Babies will be given to the winner.
Looks like the wind has changed to the east so that's my face stuck the way it is now, as the saying goes.

We have been waiting for ages for DD and family to say whether they want to use our caravan for the school October week, and if so, where they plan to go, as I have to tow the van to wherever for them.
We are flexible so, as we will be away just before them, we want to end up where they want to be. Time is getting short for us to book, so OH gave them an ultimatum on Wednesday that we need to know this week, and preferably by Thursday evening.
No decision was forthcoming, and many sites are now booked up for the date we wanted to set off, so we have sort of made a plan and booked a couple of sites just to get started, though meantime 4 days later than planned. Not ideal, but perhaps we can find a CL for the first few nights.
So far OH has booked a holiday park just outside Crieff, and CAMC Balbirnie Park in Fife to visit a school friend and her husband, who still stay near where we used to stay in the 70s. She has kept in touch with her school friend for almost 60 years now, friend's husband was at Glasgow University, studying engineering, at the same time as I was, and their daughter was at Glasgow university at the same time as our son, so we have a lot to talk about when we meet up.
After our meet up, we still have 10 days before DD & Co may want to use the caravan, so plenty of time to get to wherever they eventually decide on......or not.

It was the same in Home Bargains in town the other day!!😵😵

Another bag of Jelly Babies will be given to the winner.
No need for that, WN, but OH says thanks for the thought! Hope the weather picks up for the rest of your stay in East Anglia.
Yet more weeding in the garden, it's getting rather boring now but at least It is dry for doing it! Not a lot else going on until the car goes in for its service and MoT on Monday.

Rufs - pity there isn't a PM facility on this website - then we could communicate without having to subject everyone else to it!! Perhaps if someone could report this post, Rowena could send you my email address - is that how it works?
Don't take too much notice of what the website says - they usually open for Easter, regardless - unless it's diabolically wet, as happened one year. I have Andrew's mobile number and will have a chat with him although I suspect next year's opening times will be the last thing on his mind at the moment. He says this year has been the worst year in his lifetime of farming because of the weather and when we left he and his son were still working at 11pm most nights to try to get the harvest in. I know they are closing towards the end of this month just so they can get away on a much-needed holiday.
If we can swap email addresses, I'll keep you posted.
Enjoy your trip away

It might be a good idea to email Rowena to ask her to send your email address to Rufs. I have her email address - it is community.manager@caravanclub.co.uk.
.

Thanks millie - could you let me have it, please.

Oh - it's just popped up!!

It is community.manager@caravanclub.co.uk I think our emails crossed! Best of luck.

Sigh!!!
About an hour after I posted last night re finally booking 2 sites, DD got in touch to say they were thinking Inveraray might be a good place to visit in their school October Week holiday.
Having said several times that they thought they would like to return to one of the areas they had visited before, namely the Solway Coast, St Andrews, North Berwick, Ayrshire, Northumberland and Aberdeen, we thought we had made a couple of safe choices, leaving us well placed to head towards wherever they eventually decided on, and 9 days to fit in 2 more sites on the way. But Inveraray!!!!!
It is not that far from home, indeed to get there we would be passing within a couple of miles of our house, but a sensible route that would give us 2 more stops on the way is pretty much impossible as the direct route is over the Queensferry Crossing and then the M8 from Edinburgh to Glasgow and up Loch Lomond.
Also, in mid October, the weather is unpredictable, so maybe not the best time to be heading to the wetter west.......no idea what they would do to keep the boys entertained if it rains a lot.
We are picking them up tomorrow to go for lunch at our son's house, so will discuss further.

With all the good weather we've finished the jobs in the garden we had planned, some things still to tackle but they can be done over winter if it's not to cold or wet.
House has had a new security alarm fitted, this one is hard wired, no more batteries going dead while we are away and the alarm going off. This one we can arm and disarm using our mobile phone, so handy to have. OH has fitted a security camera to cover the drive and front of house including paths. The picture is surprisingly good even at nightime. Checked it this morning and it's surprising how much it picks up, the local cats were active.😁
Our friends husband has finally been to see the OT re his blue badge, after waiting 14 weeks. He has had the badge for 6 years now, he has several problems with walking which at 82 are not going to get any better. The OT agreed that he is getting worse and her report was that he should get a lifetime blue badge. Today they got a letter from the council saying they were not going to renew his badge 😡😲😩 how can it be that a consultant, a GP and an OT all agree that he should have a blue badge, that his condition is only going to get worse, yet a council clerk has the power to decide he doesn't need one.
If I didn't know the person concerned I wouldn't believe it but you just couldn't make it up, arrogance and jobs worth are the polite words that spring to mind, I'll let you each make your own mind up to the words I would like to use.
I've been busy making more crochet items, along with the 2 cushions, I have now made 3 bags. One for my knitting/crochet projects, one a smaller tote bag and an even smaller shoulder bag that my daughter has taken a fancy to. I found some nice cream material and made liners for them. Really please with them, now making a cardigan/jacket out of Granny squares each square has 4 colors but I've mixed them up so lots of different patterns. Looking good so far, I've spent a fortune on wool but am loving the challenge.
Good to read of folks trips away and the plans for those who are going soon. We head off shortly for a few months. MH almost ready, just got OHs stuff to go in and fridge food. I'm itching to get away so we may leave here a little earlier and have a few days in the borders before dropping in to see one of our sons in north Yorkshire. I have St Neots booked for 2 nights on the way down and a small site at Folkestone for the night before the tunnel.

Gosh TG you have been busy and enjoy your holiday, and your crochet items sound lovely my late MIL could do crocheting, watch tv and even do a crossword at the same time I have done a couple of the usual blankets many years ago although still have one and even one that my OH'S grandmother made so that is much older than mine.
We have been busy today a good sort out of OH'S shed he is not a tidy person follows his dad so things came out and I have been busy with the brush looks better and our cellier outbuilding also been done and things back where they should be also ladder out of our small pool taken apart and a few other things put away in my shed, we have also been busy in the garden and we took a full trailer and 2 large bags of garden waste to our tip.
Well a few things have gone in the caravan and will finish off next week before we leave here and our trip to the UK ours will be a shorter trip than yours TG only 1 month away.
Off to friends tomorrow afternoon and stay for 1 night then out for a meal on Monday at a restaurant we have not been to before so looking forward to that and then later will make our way back home.
A cloudy day here but go to 29.7C and thius week it could be 36C on Monday and the rest of week in the thirties a late burst of heat.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks.

Talking of crochet, I'm enclosing a photo of one such item adorning a Postbox in seaside Walberswick.
The thatched roof animals caught our attention as well. Love the little mouse. Finally a photo from yesterday. We were passing this church in Bungay and the ornate facade of the church stood out. It wasn't open unfortunately but its interesting in that I've not seen such an ornate Catholic Church like this one in England. It's St.Edmunds. The detail is best seen by opening the photo in a new tab and expanding it.
Had another good walk today. Parked on the common at Southwold (free still, found near the water tower) and walked through town, stopping for a coffee, to the front and on down to the quay then over the bridge to Walberswick and a welcoming drink in The Bell Inn before walking back over the common in Walberswick to Southwold. Bit cloudy this morning but warm with sun in the afternoon.
We were brambles and stung as we decided to pick Blackberries on the common but they were delicious with some Greek yoghurt and stewed apple.
Happy days.
Not much one can say without falling foul of T&Cs Tammy regarding your neighbour and blue badge. Hope he has someone to fight his corner.

What appalling treatment of your friend's husband about his Blue Badge TG I do hope he is not going to let it rest and will get his local Councillor, MP and probably the local press on the case.
Great photos WN especially St Edmunds Church in Bungay. So unusual and absolutely beautiful.

Here is some useful information from Citizens Advice on how you can appeal a refusal decision which might help your friend.

Had an enjoyable last day here in Suffolk.
Went to Minsmere bird reserve and basically strolled around it, in no rush. Quite cloudy but warm which suited us. We managed to avoid the local Ploughing competition but have to leave with the caravan that way tomorrow. Suspect there might be a bit of mud on the road.
Enjoyed our 6 nights here. Seemed to have got a bit of my old walking back.

Hope both of your trips to well TG and RK. And that you have a good day or two at Clumber, tda.
Looks as if you have a couple of interesting days looking at your photos, WN, Was it an Adnams you had in the Bell?
Managed to complete the bookings for the next trip; 1 CS, 1 C&CC site, 1 Rally and the rest CLs. Numerous sites that we have not used before spread across 4 counties. Lovely red sky tonight so hopefully tomorrow will be another fine day.
