That’ll be the Dynamic deposit pricing kicking in then👍🏻😊

Ah, so that’s what Dynamic Pricing’s all about 😀

For a weekend or up to a four or five nights single trip depending upon site prices, it's not going to make much difference to the deposit as it will still be a minimum of £20 as Steve says, but for a week or two of course it will mean a significant reduction.
So it might be quite a clever idea, for many/most it won't make much difference but will perhaps entice those booking a two week summer holiday to book earlier or even at all and away from the competition?.
Interesting.

Dynamic Pricing....or a variation thereof?
why has this happened...perhaps a drop in take up as much recent comment has suggested....lots of spare spaces on sites as our many emails keep reminding us.
large deposits for those who book a whole years breaks early in the year was always going to mean finding a fair chunk of cash well before actually taking that time away. Not so attractive with current COL issues and the high level of CAMC prices.
that 20% deposit meant that, for someone booking five breaks at one time, they'd effectively have to pay for one of them in full before they take any...a real change (shock for some) for CAMC customers and perhaps a deterrent to a degree?
add in the change to 21 days for the 'free' cancellation and perhaps customers see more financial risk should late changes be required, many cite hospital appointments and the like...
the Club has reacted speedily to the changing financial pressures on members, perhaps this will encourage more take up?
However, prices remain high and those breaks will still need to be paid for irrespective of a lowering of the deposit level...
interesting to see what overall change this will make.

I like some of the FAQs:
I paid a higher deposit before this low deposit promotion started, can I have the difference paid back to me please?
I lost the full £25/20% deposit when I cancelled my booking within 21 days, am I entitled to an additional £5/10% refund?
You can guess what the answer is

Wow, so many tempting special offers from the Club around Club Sites.
Still not for us. We joined C&CC yesterday,

It may entice a few more to making advanced bookings but I don't think it addresses the real problem. As YT points out, It has no effect on the final price you pay which is the real problem the Club needs to tackle. You cannot help but keep wondering why the Club prices are so high compared to many commercial sites. If social media is to be believed more and more are observing this and even those previously wedded to Cub sites are going elsewhere. The Club's costs are clearly not all down to rising energy costs, if it was why are commercial sites price rises so much less? My thoughts are it all points to the Club's central costs being too high. Going back a good few years we did not have so many managers in the Club? Why are they needed now?

I won’t ponder too much I’ll look forward to your next bulletin-you are saving me research time. Thank you👍🏻

No,worries, you can do the next one if you like👍
most of the above is blooming obvious really and what was posted on CT the minute deposits at this level came in, the cancellation period changed and the prices went up....

It was sometimes mentioned that the 'insurances and ferry sales' supported the sites operation to a degree....
insurance options seem to have fallen away and I can get my ferry costs lower with a BF discount code...perhaps the pressure is back on sites and the club has realised it can't stand on its own as things stand?
however, this does make me wonder as the 'people costs' on site couldn't be any lower?

I could true, but mine would pale in comparison I’m afraid🤷🏻♂️. It is obvious your actioning of theories have evolved from an office environment. I just don’t have that empiricism-mine is more practical based so would be a poor example.

Interesting comments. I think people like to know where they are, yo yo pricing and constant changes to the system plus an unfamiliar booking layout that is only partially finished isn't enticing.
I realise the club can make money with extra pence added on every other day to site fees but it's not a budget airline, it's a paid up membership organisation. It needs stability for people to have trust in what's being offered.

Just to prove my point I had a look at some historic accounts. Operating costs have fallen by over £5 million while Admin cost have increase by £12 million since 2012.

Purely for the CS sites. Two nights, HS, tap, modern loos and shower block, views to die for, great dog walk, free wifi, lots of space. All for total of £30.
Our kind of place, our kind of prices. Their CS network and sites have come on tremendously since we were last Members back in 1998. It’s an area that doesn’t seem to have that many (reasonable) priced CLs, so we decided to join.
A larger selection of fields with a tap for us to stay in now🤣

And surplus have increased by £20m, appears a good place for a business to be? or am I missing something?

Which year was that? Was it due to COVID and the temporary increase in staycations? Typically the surplus vairies between £2 and £4 million. ( note it was a £10 million loss in 2020) While the accounts do not break everything down sufficiently to see what is really going on, it would appear, had the admin costs remained fairly consistant since 2012 and not increased by £12 million, then site prices could have been reduced not increased!

I don't understand your which year was that? It was the same time frame as your figures?
I'm also not sure what you mean by the syplus being £2 - 4m. It clearly states in the figures you posted (I can only go by that) that in 2012 it was £33.9m and in 2021 £54.3, so an increase in the same time frame as you gave of £20m.
Again, regarding admin costs, it could be that the increase led to the greater increase in the surplus and may have contributed to the decrease in operating costs? I am at a loss as how you know that site prices would have gone down? Perhaps the increase could have been even more? Neither of us can know for certain, as we're not running the club.
Personally I'm quite happy with the (to me) significant surplus (60%) increase and any business would be pleased with such a figure? After all no profit, no new sites or refurbishments. Well done club for me.
At the end of the day all these figures and club accounts don't matter to me in any way, and I would venture to many actually using club sites. That's the price, pay or not, and judging by the site full signs I've seen many times this week that's the way it is.

The short answer is you cannot work out the actual surplus from the figures I showed. It only shows part of the picture. I thought you had at least consulted the accounts.

...but the gross surplus will be reduced by costs, including the admin one for that year and other costs which we can't see on PDs photo...
even so, the 'surplus' minus just the admin costs is £3.6m in 2012.
in 2021 it's just under £12m, so 'net' profit has increased by £8.4m not £20m.
we can't see any other reductions on the chart so we don't really know the true bottom line..
if a company makes £2 profit this year and only £1 last year has it done well as it has doubled its profits?
companies often like to see their 'profits' based on the assets (capital employed) used to attain that level of profit. ROCE (return on capital employed) or ROA (return on assets)....
many of us could 'make a million' if we had a billion to invest...

If so then the same applies to your figures quoted PD you can't have it both ways? Your figures are subject to the same constraints I would say.
As to looking at the accounts I did post I am just looking and replying at what you posted and I also posted I'm not in any way interested in the accounts or even looking at them. You posted those figures not me.
But as I said it's probably all irrelevant to those that actually use club sites, or want to use them, all most people will do is look at the prices and decide, and as I posted this site has been full most days and the next one is looking the same, perhaps even more full but I'll report back.

Indeed BB, but if PD can simply look at changes over a time frame then so can I, and the surplus as stated by PD increased from £33m to £54m so I was correct in what I was posting and I never said the net surplus (not profit) was £20m.
Personally I think a net increase in £8.4m for the surplus is pretty good, far different from the single £1 you speak of and again well done the club.
But as always it outfits on pitches that's important from my point of view, and from what I can see it's doing very well based on the sites I've been on this year but perhaps I'm using the most popular sites, but I doubt it.
Now as this thread is about sites prices and not accounting costs I'll leave it there to stay on topic.
