And discriminate against young families in the process. Those age discounts have to be paid for as SteveL mentions above. Or are you saying that the price without that discount is pure profit?

🤣 We keep meaning to do Pennine Way, but somehow end up in Cornwall!

I would be interested if the Caravan Club would explain why their sites in general are now more expensive than Camping and Caravan Club sites.
I can't see why the club has to explain anything, any more than Booths in Keswick has to explain why it's prices last week are more expensive for the same items than Morrisons in penrith.
The club sets it's prices and that's the end of it, all 'we' can do is either pay them or not, but looking at the bookings for Castleton, with many lows and full till mid September especially on SPs a lot of people are going there. I've no idea how popular the CCC site is, I've stayed on it once and for me it wasn't up to club site standards for either pitches or facilities (didn't help that the site manager wasn't happy when I wanted a different pitch), others no doubt will say it's great and that's fine we each make our own minds up - it's just my view.
All the club will do, is look at the occupancy rate and to put it bluntly say, those are our prices, people are paying them - great.

C&CC have used DP for several years but that’s separate from the age related discount which is fixed.

There is a similar debate about site prices currently on the C&CC Forum so its not exclusively a CMC issue. Those of us that can benefit from the C&CC older person discount can save a bit and it's been asked many times why the CMC don't do the same. The CMC have always taken the stance that any discounts should be available to all, not just one segment of the membership.

C&CC are offering deals for members by the bucket load just now, not just age concessions (which they are discounting further.) It might not be a good sign but it's certainly worth looking at. Discount wars between the two clubs isn't a healthy prospect, both need to fill sites to keep going.

"Booked Black horse farm for 1 night £46 Booked the next night near Rouen with heated indoor pool 26 euros The club needs to get a grip on reality."
But you still booked Black Horse? Seems to me the club know exactly what it's doing!

Presumably BHF was booked purely for convenience .... just like I did a few years back on my way to the Isle of White when I booked at Rookesbury Park(??) at a cost of £30 for the night. I knew I was being fleeced but it was convenient for Pompey!

We would often book a late afternoon crossing and find a site in France close to Calais, they are used to early evening arrivals so you could save that way? Everytime I have stayed at Black Horse Farm it always seems to be busy so the price doesn't seem to be putting people off. I assume you have more than two adults in your party as a quick check most of the prices I see are in the low to mid £30's?

It don’t help the old ‘dynamic pricing’ thing either🤷🏻♂️

We’ve used BHF & Daleacres about 20 years ago and found them expensive even then. We were then recommended (by our daughter) Howletts Farm CL £5 a night (no electric) plenty of space and quite. Been using it ever since. Now £7.50. Lovely owners make you welcome. 30 mins from Tunnel & 40 minutes Dover, convenient enough for us.

It will be a pity to see another thread concerning uk site fees closed as it is of concern to some. Many of the Trust Pilot reviews mention rising costs and it might suit the club to see these discussions closed but it doesn't help the membership!
Of course people can look elsewhere but a major point of membership is the use of club sites.

I'm currently on a site and it's full. Apparently the membership here are very happy. That's all the club will look at, occupancy and not online posts. In my view.
And threads are closed because posters get personal, contravene guidelines (as posted by the CM) not because of anyone's views.

I do know that I have the choice of going elsewhere, but it does not mean that I don't think that the prices have gone up a lot on CMHC sites, compared to many other sites. What are my reasons for staying on CMHC sites? One of my main reasons for choosing CMHC sites is that I am a single tourer who up until recently had 2 dogs with me, so it worked out as quite reasonable, as most sites charge for 2 adults and many sites charge extra for dogs. Other reasons are that most of the CMHC sites which I stay on have a toilet block and a pot wash, which I much prefer, rather than using the faciliites in my van, many have TV boosters so I don't have to fiddle about putting up and adjusting the TV ariel (which CCC sites don't have, or didn't when I was a member) and as most sites don't have a bar, entertainment or swimming pool, I am not paying extra for something which I am very unlikley to use and my view is that a site without the first two, is more likely to be quieter than one with them. I have yet to use the van this year but am hoping to do so in a few weeks time, so hope that when I do, I don't have too big a shock at the price and don't have any problems with the "booking experience".

As I've posted before on the other thread if you check the sites booking pages till see it's low all the way to mid August, and full more than a third all of that time. Same for the next four sites I'm on. In fact they are 'fuller'
So yes as someone who actually goes to club sites the 'membership' that uses sites is happy, and as I said it's occupancy rather than 'internet chatter' ( as you called it) the club will look at.

Well I can't understand why they willingly paid around £40 per night if they weren't happy?
Yes admit I'm basing my opinion on that, but can you think of a better polling method than someone actually buying something? Not just this week but going forward too? Or were they forced to pay to stay here?

Ok fair enough I should have said happy to pay and neither did I. But no idea about your site husky, perhaps one of those less popular sites with limited facilities. But as Dave alluded to it was off peak so good to get half full.
But as said if they weren't happy why did they pay to stay?

No but that's why I said apparently
