We haven,t booked it again. We would have booked all our sites by now but the deposits at 20% for each one would be in the region of 1K.

We go for 2 weeks at a time every month.

So what is there to complain about for you and/or who does rip off apply to? It's your opinion it's a rip off not a fact is it?

The deposit issue is a completely different matter but I didn't understand what you're saying?Other comparable non club sites will charge a deposit and have probably even worse T&C to deal with. You will have to pay the amount sooner or later with going away so regularly

Are you saying you're booking nearer the time but still using club sites?

Anyway you haven't been ripped off so all is good?

That's an increase of £5.94 a day, some would say that's not much, while other's think it a bit much.

Where I holiday the site prices have gone up this year but only by €1 a day.

I've worked out that the savings I make on pitch prices pays for the cost of the ferry, might want to think about it if you find the club sites to expensive (I do)

A cottage we stayed in last year (out of any bank holiday period) has doubled its price this year (that's a 100% increase wink). So we haven't booked it.

On the other hand, a hotel we stayed at for a weekend has actually come in £10 cheaper so we have booked it.

There seems little rhyme or reason in some hospitality price rises, so many variables, and certainly little point moaning about it. If it appears too expensive look elsewhere,  if it looks a good deal go for it! smile

Just had a go at that - ours comes in at 10.7% - helped, mind you, by the fact that Mr M spends very little on "new clothes and shoes"! (Mrs M does her best to compensate, though). laughing

+1, stuff goes up when inflation is running as high as it is👍🏻, food is up weekly, no one would lie to themselves by suggesting otherwise. Everything C&MC buy, hires or invests in is going up. They’ve got to get revenue from somewhere🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice link Brue. Ours is misleading as it attributes that over 30% of a figure of 10.1% is taken up by energy price increase but our energy is a fixed deal over 2 years and the same rates apply, more or less, to 2021 and 2022, give or take the odd month at beginning of 2021.

Not sure TG's calculations work for us either as the foreign sites last year consisted of sites in Netherlands that were commensurate with CLs, price wise, that we used in UK in Autumn, but can see the logic in what she says.

Edit - Not sure "rip-off" is the correct adjectival phrase either. "Value for Money" might be more appropiate.

Without getting political pension rises will increase tax returns as tax allowances aren't going up.

Inflation is affecting everyone so for some of us lucky enough to have disposable incomes we might need to think more about where  we spend it as per the OP.

I think CAMC have said that most people book within 21 days, this might work out better if the not yet revealed "offers" come along.

"I've worked out that the savings I make on pitch prices pays for the cost of the ferry"

Well, it's only a saving if you would actually be using club sites which I think you've said you don't. The difference in price may well be equivalent to the ferry price but to be accurate you mean "the savings I would make".  ( It's a bit like me saying the savings I make by not staying at the Ritz pays for my stay at Holiday Inn! wink)

Yes true about the tax, but not a lot to do about that.

But we're not talking about some essential spend like food or energy for our homes, but a holiday on a (club) site and having the ability and money to go there in the first place - cost of the outfit, servicing, car/MH tax (or whatever it's called) insurance, perhaps storage....

So I guess we're lucky in this respect and if that is all the cost of living crisis is doing to 'some' is that they have to choose a different place to have their holidays (but still a holiday remember) they're all doing pretty well in my view compared to many.

Also the OP's figures aren't right as was pointed out in the first few pages, did the OP come back on that?

    Clearly I cant speak for TG, but for me the correct phraseology would be;

"What I pay to stay at the Ritz Camping, sur le continent, would only get me Camping Holiday Inn in the UK"!!

Bottom line, it is £45 a night for an average offering in a  location with nothing much around it in a period after the school holidays. As Corners has said, "If not to your liking, go elsewhere". At that price, I suspect many will. The comparative occupancy rates at the end of the year will give the definitive answer.

Would I pay that much per night, If it had its own pool was adjacent to a beach of golden sand and a number of restaurants/pubs close by then possibly. In this case, not a chance.

Whilst I agree with your point that the bottom line is a site at £45 a night, the OP was talking about Blackpool South, so I don’t think it is true to say there is nothing much around it.  Close to a beach, nature reserves, Latham st Anne’s to name a few. Personally I would still be reluctant to pay £45.

I think CY was referring to a more recent comment about the increase at the New Forest site. Blackpool South isn’t £45 a night when the OP is visiting. I would agree I wouldn’t pay that either, didn’t like the site when we had a caravan and would like it even less now with a MH. However, that decision is purely down to location. I would pay it ( it is actually slightly more expensive) for Black Knoll, which also does not have a pub nearby, restaurant or swimming pool.

That aside although less popular than BK the more expensive service pitches in September are showing low to the 21st, which means that at least 23 of the 28 are secured with a deposit.

I have started thinking about giving up touring/using sites in this country. I am off sur Le Continent this year and will be comparing my cost with the £76 per day it cost to tour in England last year. I already make little use of Club sites compared to others available and it may turn out it is time to leave the Club although I would miss the opportunity to use CLs. My renewal is not due until late in the year so I have plenty of time to mull it over and to continue trying the alternatives.

It might work out cheaper or the same, but if we gave up our UK tour and did two in Europe, we wouldn’t get to visit UK places and countryside. As I put above it’s all about location, rather than purely cost.

Wow, that's some expensive touring - we didn't pay that much for any of the cottages/hotels we used last year, even taking fuel costs into consideration!  surprised

Thats a very puzzling post, PD. You say you make little use of club sites so your reasons will have almost nothing to do with 2023 prices for club sites - the subject of this thread - so it seems unlikely you'll make a saving by avoiding them.

I just looked at the cost of our 45 day UK tour and sites + fuel and gas totalled £35.50 a day. So on the face of it a lot for additional perhaps more expensive food than at home, plus of course visits to places. However, if I proportion the costs of owning the MH as well, I m sure I would get close to PD’s figure.

I'm on the C&CC Delamere Forest site , full facility site including WiFi, with age concession discount £21 per night,  Devizes site same price. Can anyone name a CAMC full facility site at that price?

Where does this £45 a night come from CY? The cost for couple at Blackpool is £36.90 in peak and 331.70 the rest of the time? Am I missing something?

Also £45 a night off peak is below the the average for a site with SP.

As for your predictions of low occupancy rates you have been posting something similar for a few years and so far it has not happened.

Yes many won't use club sites, but I suspect many will too.
