Glad you had such a good trip Robsail. As Bakers2 has said it is such a great site in a beautiful area and Holy Island as an added bonus.

We love it up there as well, both the coast and the lovely inland areas. It’s been our go to place these last few years.

We managed an afternoon out, OH was comfy driving Jeep, so we headed off to Wortley Hall for a dog walk, had a nice coffee inside, then drove up to Ingbirchworth to a lovely ice cream parlour on a farm. Scenic drive back, weather held off and it’s was quite sunny, lovely to see daffy’s nodding, camellias and blossom trees blooming. We have some good plans for a weekly day out now, exploring some good stuff we have overlooked close to home, given ourselves a 50-60 mile radius. Once Easter holidays are over, we might do a night out using local Britstops as well with MH. All cleaned out, and ready to roll.

    Millie

I think we have come to the same conclusions about touring in Europe with our van but wouldn't be adverse to using other means like rail or cruises. We last went abroad with the van in 2016. The following year we already had the Tunnel booked but when we tried to get Red Pennant we hit all sorts of difficulties because Margaret was now using insulin for her diabetes. RP wouldn't cover her for that condition and suggested we look elsewhere for insurances. The reason for their refusal was the fact that Margaret did not take the same amount of insulin everytime she administered  it to herself. As many will know insulin is adjusted depending on blood sugar readings!

The only problem with ‘wing it’ is if things do go bad which could then leave a persons family/partner a whole mess of trouble & expense that was not expected nor budgeted for. I put into a kitty of a friend of a friend 15yrs ago to get the person medevac’d to the UK, it was £10k back then. It is not something I would ever consider.

It's good to read your post and I'm very pleased to hear you're back home again; I'd been wondering how you were since your last update from hospital.  I wish you a good recovery, at least the weather should start getting better as well, which will help with getting out and about again.  I sincerely hope you will be able to get to Spain later in the year.  Take care and very best wishes.

Pleased to read that you are well on the road to a full recovery from your ops, AD. Hope that you are fit enough come the autumn to be able to head "over there" as anticipated.

Big Thank you for all the lovely post's about Bodie,  we are still missing him. We collected his ashes the other day and plan to bury him  alongside our other Collie so they will be together.

HuskyDog, sorry to read you have also lost your dog, like you we are going to miss him on our caravan holiday's.

AD, all the very best for a speedy recovery and you get some time away later in the year.

Glad all trips away have been enjoyable, and that your house guests had a good time Brue, enjoy your railway tea.

Had a lovely sunny day for a change, actually felt a bit like spring,  even the washing dried outside. OH has completed the caravan modifications and cleaning, we are almost ready to get out and about.  We have booked a boat trip from Mull, hoping to sea the White tailed eagles,  we got the last couple of spaces, apparently bookings are almost full for this year and some of next too! 😱

    Busy day all round.

Blood tests first thing. Supposed to be a 9.15 appointment but had an email the other changing it to 9.20!undecidedundecided Anyway I wanted to avoid school run as I pass it on the way so arrived early at 9.00. Took my newspaper in to read whilst I waited but no-one waiting so I was done and dusted by 5 past. Do you remember pre-covid when blood test waiting rooms were heaving. These last half a dozen have been eerily devoid of patients. Presumably no-one seeing doctors whose stock responses used to be "Have a blood test"

Packing up for a cottage trip with MiL in tow to celebrate her 90th. It's been a procession of friends calling in to deliver cards and goodies all day.

Then to remind us of mortality we attended a neighbours funeral late afternoon.

We have a couple of reasonably dry days. Yesterday we visited Helix Country Park, the home of The Kelpies, and today, as well as a walk around Muiravonside CP we had a walk along the Union Canal and over the Avon Aquaduct, the longest one in Scotland and the second longest in Britain. This is our last night at Beecraigs before we move down to D&G.

Well, the tractor and the washing machine certainly earned their keep yesterday. After some last minute issues we opened the gates for business. Yay wind and rain and mud! We have 40 seasonal vans this year but luckily only 18 came yesterday. I managed to pitch most of them with the tractor with no real problems except the place looks like glastonbury festival on a wet day & I looked like I'd sat in a mud bath. Trying to iron out all the huge ruts caused by shunting those vans was a headache & I finally got in at 7 o'clock. Today I think we'll have to cancel or postpone all arrivals as it's been coming down in stair rods since 3am, along of course with 40mph winds! I'm now going out to check the grounds & see if all's ok with everyone. Not a good start to our season but hey the joys of being a wardenundecided. Second thoughts I'll leave it a bit as we now also have thick fog!!

Horrible weather for the start of the holidays. I see Tewkesbury is on flood alert, our local river has burst it's banks. Hope people have safe journeys and we all see some better weather soon! 🌞

Been out for shopping for DD for their week away, just had lunch, now we need to pack  the car.  Hoping the rain will stay off, we got a bit wet earlier coming out of Aldi.

It was supposed to be a small shop just to get them started, but they seem to have forgotten that, so OH had me go along too as there were quite a few heavy items, they will need to travel in our car.

DD and the boys are coming up later with clothes to pack  in the van, and OH still has some stuff to put in for them from the house.

Dealer has fixed the broken wheel spat with tape meantime, hopefully it will last, and found that Swift no longer supply new ones, so we will need to find one elsewhere, we have a link to a place that makes them.   Will ring them next week to see how long it takes to get one.  £195 including delivery, so not as bad as we had expected.

Been busy the last few days so just been catching up on posts. I did try last night but got the 'essential maintenance, message.

Sat enjoying a quiet cuppa before our Yorkshire gKids descend on us for the night. Parents coming to. Then tomorrow they are off to a wedding in Falkirk, followed by a few days in Oban and Fort William before heading back down home.

Our other gKids have gone back down to Wiltshire for their Easter hols, no sign of an appointment for granddaughters MRI yet but she seems to be OK for now.

WN, enjoy your cottage trip, say happy birthday to MIL please. I hope OHs rash subsides and you all have a good time away.

All those away or planning a trip I hope the weather is kind to you and you have a good time.

We are staying put for Easter and sorting the caravan ready for our trip to Italy at the end of April.

We do have a lunch booked to meet up with our pals we went to France with last year.

We are both on the same ferry to St Malo (next cabins even) though booked totally independent of each other.

They are staying in France while we are off exploring pastures new. We love France but decided we need to get out of our comfort zone before it's to late. Here's hoping we don't regret it.

Weather here is wet, windy and miserable. Jobs to be done in the garden but it's not inviting.

Right must shake a leg and get the curry on they asked for.

    Have a good weekend folks.

Hope you have a good time in the Peaks, WN - we'll be there in 4 weeks time, so if you could please not drink the Packhorse dry of Jaipur it would be most appreciated!  smile

And hope you are enjoying your time in Threlkeld, Corners - our weather for the last few days has been reminiscent of Lake District holidays! surprised

I remember the Packhorse being a pub that served some top class Cider from Brittany. Quite taken aback when I found out but boy was it delicious. Might just nip in late one afternoon to see if they still do. Enjoy your stay when you get here. Is it Red Setter weekend?

Yes, that's it - well remembered! We have a week in a cottage in Addingham, near where we used to live in Yorkshire first, followed by a week at Little Longstone arriving just in time for the Coronation celebrations! smile
