Commiserations to Helen and Trevor. 15 was a very good age and it would appear that his love for what the pair of you gave him was reciprocated in spades. Dogs are brilliant at that and the best sounding boards one could wish for. They never argue and always agree with you. We still think often of the ones we've had.
Woke up at 6.30 after a decent nights sleep and decided to let OH carry on sleeping until I made her a cup of tea, so I was a bit surprised to find her bringing me one 2 hours later. After that we eased ourselves gently into the day.
Food shopping. Bit surprised to receive a letter from British Gas asking me to make an appointment for boiler service. I'm normally chasing them. All done very quickly and efficiently online.

Good to hear that GS is recovering well B2, always worrying when little people are poorly.
We are unexpectedly sitting in DD's kitchen, having just had coffee and cake. The boys are still at nursery as Granny could not come to look after them today, and we had to take the caravan to get the wheel bearings changed.
DD got a message from her tenants yesterday to say one of the (mains powered and wireless linked ) smoke alarms was chirping every 30 seconds or so, could someone come and fix it?
I had agreed to go there this evening to take a look.....it will either be dust in it or the back up rechargeable battery has failed. However the "caravan gremlin" has struck again.
Arrived at dealer after the 30 mile journey to find that we only had 3 and a bit tyres left, and bits of the caravan missing. Tyres are only 3 years old. We had noticed nothing so no idea when it happened! Fortunately no damage to wheel box, so van can still be used, but new wheel spat will be required.
Dealer removed wheel, we do have a spare, and we took it away to get a new tyre fitted and then took it back there. All takes time, lunch was missed, and we had DD's dehumidifier to drop off, so decided to just come here and hopefully get fed.
Also, she said I could go to see tenants any time after 5.30, so waiting here till then, no point in going home. Was going to take bus along, it is only a couple of miles, and the parking is terrible, but apparently they have no ladder to get up to the ceiling.
If it is the battery, which is not replaceable, I will remove the whole thing so DD can source a suitable replacement. This of course will mean making a second visit, plus we need to collect caravan tomorrow.
On the plus side, the weather here today is lovely, on the minus side, it's going to be a very late dinner tonight .

Had a phone call from the garage where I ordered my new car on 1st November 2022 with some relatively good news. Apparently the car is now on a ship from Korea. Delivery expected mid/late May. Hope my joke about not getting stuck in the Suez Canal does not tempt fate! The colour I ordered has been discontinued and has been replaced by a metallic red without extra cost so that might have been worth the delay!
After, what seems a long time after her cataract operation Margaret now has here new glasses and everything is much improved eyesight wise. When she had her eye test for these glasses she did not do very well on the test with the little white dots. Fortunately today, a second test proved to be fine.

So I assume you will find your handiwork with the duster will be under increased pressure, David or you will find yourself spending more and more time on your knees

We have a similar experience with our friendly plumber. I am still waiting for an email at least from him following a job he did on our shower prior to us going away in the autumn. I have sent him emails asking for his bill but still no response from him. I just hope he is OK and not gone off to the Caribbean again to work on someone's private boat, as he his want to do.

TammyG, should you hear from David please pass on our Best wishes, its difficult when one is ailing to respond adequately, I know, but it helps if one knows that 'posters' care about the rest of the CT family when they have problems.
Best wishes to all and sundry who have family and/or friends under the weather right now.

nth - I think it's the same with our chap - his wife just happens to own the largest taxi firm in the area - so I don't think money is an issue and he seems to much prefer solving plumbing problems than worrying about the paperwork and being paid! Totally frustrating for an honest customer though, who just wants to settle up with him. I have a builder friend and this same plumber has serviced his parent's boiler for the last 20 years or so - and have never had a bill!

Good news DK. Are they still guaranteeing your trade in price though?
Any reason why Volvomans first post reply on this topic has been Deleted User? It always made me smile particularly bearing in mind the "problems" that we've all encountered since.
Mrs WN has come out in severe rashes across her body.(Makes an interesting game of join the dots though). This has been caused by an allergic reaction to a Heat cream she used before being diagnosed, according to Pharmacist. Apparently its the Diclofenac in it that's causing the issue as it contains Naproxen which she knows she is allergic to. Hopefully the remedy he supplied will help.

Apparently so, I have only paid £100 deposit but that seems to set the price for the duration of the order. The change of colour would normally be an extra £560 for metallic paint so not having to pay for that is a bit of a bonus. The only elephant in the room is how close will they stay to the original trade in price offered for my current car as that was not guaranteed?

Helen and Husky, sorry to hear about your much loved dogs passing. Pets become so much part of the family and it is a wrench when we lose them.
I hope Mrs WN’s rash goes soon.
Before we left our caravan site I walked to the river, where the site swan has made her nest in some reeds a little way out from the bank. It does look precarious and I hope the river doesn’t rise before the cygnets hatch. The male was guarding, he’s a bit of a monster, last year killing a goose that came too close and attacking rowers. But they did raise 6 out of 8 young.
Just as we were leaving we heard that our Granddaughter had been rushed into hospital again on Sunday night. A friend went with her and stayed with her. The ambulance got to the hospital at 11pm, they were in it all night and then she was taken from the ambulance for a CT scan on Monday morning, then returned back to the ambulance. She said it got very cold overnight. At 4pm on Monday afternoon they discharged her - from the same ambulance. 3 different shifts of paramedics. This probably goes some way to explain why there is often a problem getting an ambulance. The hospital did apologise and arranged for her to get a taxi home. She has been waiting 8 weeks for an MRI scan, they say they will try to hurry this up. She is feeling a little better today, rather than be alone she has gone to stay with her friends, who have been amazing, and she is resting in bed. She says she would rather we wait until the weekend to pick her up as she wants to finish an assignment!

Is it just me but the post is now reading in full but I swear it was shown as Deleted User when I first posted. Gee, I can't even blame the drink.
How worrying for you DEBSC. Best wishes.

DEBSC best wishes for your granddaughter. Whatever their age they're a worry! It seems madness that our NHS is under such pressure that this passes for 'normal'. Glad her friends are being really good to her.
Wherenext I hope Mrs Wherenext looses the rash quickly. I trust its just a rash and no other effects.
Wet here, uninspiring after a wonderful spring like day yesterday where we both pottered and worked in the garden. Had garden help booked for today and a bonus day tomorrow. Expensive - but hopefully would have more than broken the back of all the beds. Sadly gardener poorly Monday so cancelled last evening and I've just heard he's no better today so won't be coming tomorrow. Monetary saving but at what expense?? Having gardened on Essex clay all my life, I prefer it to this clay, you have to work it in the window. If it's too wet here it takes me back to pottery at school 😱😱😱 I can't recall it that bad in Essex.

Made it to White Water Park CAMC site. Went up to the Glass Beach yeaterday (Seaham) - lovely day. Today has bee rather rainy.... I think it has been similar everywhere.... went to Saltburn, but the rain was coming down so didn't venture on the beach. We did carry on driving up to Redcar and it stopped long enough for a very short walk on the beach. We'll see what tomorrow brings, but we are booked in for a 'Christmas Gift' Afternoon Tea... 😀
Just going back to read all the post I have missed... so sorry to read the news about AD's hospital admission - all good wishes... and about H&T's and Husky's dogs.. 🙁🙁
Best of luck with the new car DavidK...

We're on a CL where I think the owner had forgotten we had booked earlier. It's on a farm in the middle of nowhere (well nowhere to us and we were panicking about finding somewhere else!) The owners are away and we managed to contact them....at least the electrics are switched on. So all alone tonight! 🦉

Sounds like our kind of site, brue Gizza clue!!😁 Hope you enjoy the peace and quiet.
Fingers crossed that the cause of Mrs WN's rash is not because of something we said!! Hope that the remedy does the job. Wish her the best from us, p!ease, WN.
Debs, hope your granddaughter recovers and you are able to able to collect her without any trouble
DSB, hope that you are finding the site to your liking. Good to read that you have made it to a couple of your selected destinations, and you enjoy the rest of your stay there.
We had a beautiful day yesterday when we drove up to Beecraigs CP caravan site at Linlithgow. Had to detour en route, so arrived later than anticipated but not a problem as we are on a previously chosen pitch, and the site is very quiet anyway, with only 10 units on the 24 pitches. Had a couple of walks around the woods yesterday. Visited Bo'ness today, and although it was back to showery weather we had a couple of walks from the harbour and a third around part of the Kinneil Estate.

Certainly is, and an interesting church there too. Well spotted.

Back from our 5 day road trip south of Perth. Had a couple of days in Margaret River, a very good wine producing area where we had a full day wine tasting tour which included tastings at three Winery's, lunch and drinks at a brewery, cocktail tasting at a distillery, a chocolate factory and a cheese factory. A really fun day.
Then we spent two nights at the Crown Towers and Casino hotel in Perth and had lunch at the Nobu restaurant there. Back home today to chill ready for our flight back to the UK tomorrow evening. Looks like we will be leaving a sunny 28C for a rainy 12C.

WN Volvoman's post was missing for me as well, as well as a fair few other postings. I wonder why - what had they done wrong?! All is well now though as they are all back. Perhaps someone at HQ was bored one morning I hope Mrs WN's rash clears up soon.
DEBSC I hope your grand-daughter is soon better. What a worry for you. There seems to be a lot of illness around at the moment. I hope everyone recovers soon.
nellie It sounds as though you are having a good trip despite the rather dire weather. It rained most of the day here yesterday as well. It is dry at the moment but I am not holding my breath!
brue I hope you enjoyed the peace and quiet last night

Thanks for all your good wishes for our granddaughter, it is much appreciated. Very little is know about her condition and, because the family all think there should be more awareness about it is the reason I’m explaining it here. Although it is not life threatening, sadly she will probably never recover, but it’s a question of making it as good as she can be. Until she was 14 she was fine and energetic, with no inkling of any problems. Then suddenly she developed Postural Tachycardia or POTs. She has a severe form of this. It has affected her auto immune system and her brain doesn’t control her heart properly. Her blood pressure can fluctuate from very, very low to very, very high in moments. It also causes her many more complex issues. Due to all of this she faints very frequently throughout the day, never knowing it will happen, hence using a wheelchair to stop her constantly falling, often banging her head on objects. She also becomes very fatigued. Recently she has also started having more severe issues. We have struggled so hard to get her one of the very rare NHS specialists and it is looking as though she may have to return to a private non NHS Specialist as her symptoms worsen. However, she is a bright, determined, friendly, tenacious (sometimes stubborn) 18 year old, who is determined to get there, and I rarely hear her complain. So very proud of her.
