My basic problem is that the system was replaced with an inferior untested product IMO. I agree that the app is poor and again appears to have again been un tested. The original late availability required one click et voila - done 👍The membership deserves better.

Hi Steve please belive me I am not trying to "point score" but you state :-

The first photo shows availability for this weekend

but it's incorrect, as for example it shows Barnard Castle as available but it isn't open untill March 1st.

I believe most on here want the same outcome ie a professionally produced system that works well across all devices and operating systems

I just tried availability for Bernard Castle on the website - it took ten seconds to tell me the site is closed until 1 March and then gives me the base price for dates after that. No problem at all.

The point is that it shows on the map as available, even worse there are cases when the map shows full or closed when in fact its not so you have to go directly into each site, it's not improvement to the original.

Unfortunately incorrect information on site searches is nothing new.

Even under the old system, I lost count of the times I did a search having given dates, to find that a number of the sites were either closed or didn't have the full dates I was after. Reporting it never made a difference.

Its a shame that the new booking system  has so many issues still to be resolved.

As has been said often it should not have been launched when it was.

Can't turn back the clock so need to move on and cope with it until it resembles something like a good experience.

Of course it's not the only offering for campsites so we all have a choice. I wonder how many will leave the club because of this and of course the high fee that is now demanded.

I won't be leaving but I will definitely spend more time looking at other providers. For me the extra cost is not a deal breaker and I am fortunate in that respect, it's more about the whole feeling of a change of priorities within the "Club" .I really do feel sympathy for members who are struggling to find the cash up front (followed by the price increase on arrival) the new system requires.

I referred to the first photo, to me that would be the one on the left. That shows Barnard Castle as closed, as it should for this weekend. The other photo illustrates a weekend in  the middle of March when most sites have opened.

Unless of course its putting photos in different positions on different devices.

On my Samsung S20fe the first top pic came up as the RH one,  so it must be as you say a device anomaly.

Had a look at booking Bunree at Fort William. Website is terrible !!  Previous booking system was poor but this is much worse !  - Now the clock isn't even ticking !!

£42.90 per night for a non serviced pitch in June with basic facilities.  I could get B&B for not much more !!   Apparently it would be £57.90 for a non member !!????........... Crazy !

I'll be cancelling my renewal !

I think your answer is in its popularity. More or less all of May and a fair number of dates in June are shown as low availability. May could have been booked under the old system but for June they would have had to pay deposits.

Perhaps worth trying North Ledaig. We stopped at both last year in September / October and Bunree was £88.20 for three nights, whilst North Ledaig was £71.50 that’s for 2 adults.

That's a ridiculous price for Bunree, to be honest I prefer North Ledaig.

Have just tried out the booking site on my old 15+ years laptop, it runs on Windows 7.  So far I have experienced no issues.

The map worked as it should, prices were displayed for the dates I had entered and changed as I scrolled along the calendar.

I did notice that The Clachan site which was formerly one of the  £17 a night sites is now £20+

Not bad value when you consider some CL’s are now charging £25 or even £30 per night

We have, reluctantly, booked one CL at £25, but will not go higher than  that.  Thinking we may even use CAMC North York Moors, £23.20 for the time we will be away.  Yorkshire does seem quite expensive.

Would be our only Club site in 2 years.

Same with Altnaharra our stay in September would cost 22% more. That still seems good value, what doesn’t is that for 3 adults the price has increased by 62%. Similar increases have been applied to both EHU and non EHU pitches. For comparison the next site we stayed at, Durness Sango Sands has increased their price by 10% non EHU and 11.5% EHU. The percentage increases there are the same with more adults. Altnahara is cheaper for children though at £1.7 as against £4, which for families could offset the other differences. Pets are free at both. Basically I suppose it’s very much swings and roundabouts. Comparisons will depend very much on your party make up.

    Sorry.
I shouldn’t have included the price per child when considering percentage increases, as Durness has facilities. So forget that bit. Suffice it to say they are more.

I've been bemoaning the blasted map search....awful.... I like to see site names and locations rather than price labels.....  so I now use SearchforSites, get the link from there to the actual site page and click book a pitch....boom straight there in double quick time. Also SfS has CLs and other club sites/CS site and independent sites listed. I've only booked 3 for 2023 and booked those before the new system became a "thing"..... I've a week to book early July and another 2 in September and I'll use the SfS way as much easier but also we've used CL's the past 2 years and with decent facilities too but much cheaper than the club sites.  Pretty sure there will be plenty of empty pitches in 2023. I paid €22 for 2 of us and the motorhome inc electric last weekend per night in Belgium on a hard stand. Safe Travels all...... but I thought I'd share my thoughts on the Map Search and how I now book.

I am checking things very carefully now against other local offerings and VFM.

I have noticed upon booking that the facility to view on map is not available !? i mostly use this to view a site on the map to see the surrounding area and it has in the past caused me to reject a site after seeing what is next to it,i now have to leave the club site and view the area on google maps and the log in to club site again to book or not and carry on viewing more sites.

Is it just me or am i missing something.the club must take into account we are not all IT wizards.

The new booking system has been described to me by a warden as an airline type system where as the old one was a hotel type system and he informed me that the club was loosing older wardens much quicker than they can be replaced.

This seems to have happened to all the no facility sites. Thetford is no longer one price throughout its opening period, so very much more expensive that before. One of the few club sites we occasionally have used, but no more.

I think it may have come from a Club comment to one of the TP reviews which suggested that an updated website would happen in the early part of the year. Mind you there are so many comments/rumours around it's difficult to know what the actual truth is?

That's why I asked DK, I've not seen anything about it. You're right though about comments / rumours, it's a job to know fact from fiction.

Yes, there was reference to it somewhere. I think also on this forum reference has previously been made to it’s supposed happening.

I think I posted about it after seeing reference to it on TP.  Certainly doesn't look any different but I have to say the website works a lot faster now for me. I haven't got as far as actually booking but search now works fine for me . My Samsung Tab 2019 packed up so at moment I'm using a Lenovo tablet from about 2015 on Android 5. Also works similarly on my Motorola phone on Android 11, so there's certainly some improvement.

Yes it was announced and it looks like the "front-page" of the web site has changed, the booking experience references, deposit info and faqs etc have been relegated to a back burner.

The only downside to this change is Trust Pilot still on the front page, still limping along with a 3.4 rating and still with many posts challenging the new system, costs and pricing. The other reviews are for anonymous sites.
